The health requirements brought about by the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) led to the urgent organisation of health services. Nurses played a crucial role and generously took care of the civil and military populations. Objetive: we want to highlight the work carried out by nurses of the women’s branch of the Catholic Action Youth, led by their president María de Madariaga, who was appointed Deputy Inspector of women’s hospital services; and justify the creation of the Sisterhood of Nurses Salus Infirmorum. Method: It is study historical-desccriptive, based on primary and secundary sources from the archives of Catholic Action Youth and Salus Infirmorum. Results: Over 4,500 nurses of the Women's Catholic Action Youth provided care and assistance in hospitals, pharmacies, and garment workshops for combatants, visited hospitals and trained nurses. This work led to the subsequent creation of the Salus Infirmorum Sisterhood in 1942 founded by María de Madariaga as a group of Catholic nurses. Conclusion: The young women of JFAC actively participated in the national camp. Finished the war, it is created and and developed the Salus Infirmorum Sisterhood as a result leadership by María de Madariaga in the JFAC.

With the sublime emotional description that Stephen King achieves of the main characters in Misery, the writer manages to delve into the world of affections and feelings, exploring the art of care and its negative aspects. He manages to delve into the figure of the nurse Genene Jones, representative of the role of the angel of death, making visible theories that frame these typologies and their acts. Objective: to describe the behaviours, experiences, beliefs and values set out by Stephen King in the story "Misery" (1987). Methodology: Phenomenological-historical study with an exploratory approach in narrative and secondary sources of the events that took place in the period between 1950-1990. Results: The piece is a masterful analysis of Genene Jones' nursing practice. It also reflects the transformation from the role of an angel of death, carried out by a health professional, to become a serial killer. Conclusion: The study of the horror literature allows the study of the nursing role to deepen and increase the knowledge of the nursing role, both for health professionals and nursing students and the general population.

Introduction: The cinema disseminates the social imaginary from various human images and archetypes, such as the professional nurse, in their area or outside of it. Thus, this study allows an approximation of the filmic language intertwined with the historical-social analysis of what this professional is and what he represents. Objective: To describe and analyze the social imaginary about the representation of nurses in cinema, considering the cultural and historical context of each chosen film work. Methodology: This is a qualitative, analytical and historical-social-cultural research, based on the theoretical framework on the "social imaginary", in three works of cinematographic art from different times and countries of origin: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, from 1975, “Atonement”, from 2007 and “The Father”, from 2020. Results: Nursing is portrayed differently in film films, such as the one that invokes great icons and their achievements or contributions to the development of professionalization, but without frequently discussing the historical process of the identity construction of what it is to be a nurse and what he does, in favor of the social collectivity. Conclusion: The study contributed to the demystification of the integrated and stereotyped look, in the hope of consolidating itself culturally and advancing in the description and careful, careful and current analysis of the differences in the being and doing of nurses, as a social actor of their time and the structural context in which it is inserted.
