Sequential use of blocplan, solver, and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to optimize the double row facility layout 依次使用平面图、求解器和粒子群优化 (PSO) 优化双排设施布局

Facility layout optimization is used to increase company productivity by minimizing waste on transportation, movement, and waiting time. It was mentioned in several previous studies that optimal facility layout can reduce production costs by up to 40%. Because of this importance, many previous researchers have carried out research in the field of Facility Layout. The differences between each Facility Layout research are in the characteristics and criteria being analyzed and the optimization method used. The several approaches used to optimize the layout are constructed algorithm, exact algorithm, and metaheuristic. These three methods have their respective purposes and to the best of our knowledge have not been used sequentially. So, this study aims to find the best layout for the double-row facility problem with aisle width consideration using three sequential methods. There are BLOCPLAN for the constructed algorithm, solver for the exact algorithm, and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for the metaheuristic. The result shows that the use of BLOCPLAN gives a better result of Total Material Handling Cost (TMHC) in PSO. For more machines, PSO has better results than Gurobi Optimization.

This research in the Industry 5.0 field focuses on a human-centered simulation of the FAS200 SMC educational production line, utilizing Tecnomatix Process Simulate Human software for developing a virtual human environment. A key aspect of this study is the integration of inertial sensors, enhancing the accuracy and depth of ergonomic analysis. These sensors play a pivotal role in capturing precise human movement data, crucial for ergonomic assessments. Adopting a defined working methodology, the study extensively employs the RULA method to evaluate operator postures in the production line. This approach has led to significant ergonomic improvements, evidenced by a 40 percent reduction in the RULA index at each workstation. The integration of inertial sensors has been instrumental in achieving these results, providing detailed insights into human movements and interactions with the production environment. The research transcends traditional ergonomic assessments by incorporating a new human-centered approach, emphasizing the well-being of individuals working alongside machines. This approach, bolstered by the use of inertial sensors, marks a significant advancement in ergonomic studies, aligning with the principles of Industry 5.0. The findings hold substantial potential for application in industrial settings, signaling a shift towards more human-friendly and efficient industrial practices.

Adopting lean product development in new production system introduction process for sustainable operational performance 在新生产系统引进过程中采用精益产品开发,实现可持续运营绩效

This research explores adopting the lean product development (LPD) concept in the new production system introduction process (NPSIP) to achieve both pre-launching and post-launching operational performance considering sustainability aspects. An empirical study was conducted in a multi-national pharmaceutical company, having lean practice for over a decade. Two case projects for launching the new production system were followed in retrospect, and data was collected by interviewing experts. In the case company, evidence were found regarding adoption of soft lean practices in the NPSIP, however, lack of adoption of hard lean practices. Several challenges were identified that hinder achieving both pre-launching and post-launching operational performance, which could be mitigated by adopting LPD practices. This paper contributes to the broad lean literature by expanding its implication within the NPSIP context. Additionally, a set of LPD principles and practices is proposed that could be adopted in the NPSIP context. Adopting the LPD principles and practices in the NPSIP, manufacturing companies can launch a new production system faster, and achieve target sustainable operational performance faster, resulting in additional competitive advantage.

A requirement-driven approach for competency-based collaboration in industrial data science projects 工业数据科学项目中基于能力的协作的需求驱动方法

The ongoing digitization of online learning resources has led to a proliferation of collaboration platforms for specific areas of application and disciplines. Simultaneously, especially manufacturing companies need to gain and secure knowledge in the field of Industrial Data Science (IDS) and to collaborate with partners to form a competitive value chain. In this paper, collaborative and competency-based requirements for applying industrial data analytics are adapted into specifications for implementing a collaboration platform. The currently absent requirements of IDS projects are defined and then turned into platform-specific functions. In an ongoing research project the functions are applied in an online platform. The usage in a system of dynamic value networks validates the defined requirements in a practical environment. The innovation of the platform is its clear focus on IDS project practitioners, who are typically comprised of several different domains. It secures a long-term use of deployed data analytics solutions in the industrial environment. The first version of the developed collaboration platform is available online and still in validation.

Improvement of the sustainable performance in a textile company using the lean-green methodology 利用精益绿色方法提高纺织企业的可持续绩效

The textile industry represents one of the greatest threats to the environment. It is the second most polluting industry, generating hazards with its solid waste, gas emissions, water pollution, among others. The objective of this research was to assess the effects of the implementation of the Lean Green methodology within the textile industry to optimize the sustainable performance of the companies and to address the problems of the sector mentioned above. The case study selected was the dyeing area of a Peruvian textile company where the Lean Green methodology was implemented in a sequential design of six phases to then evaluate its effects on sustainable performance. The findings show that the implementation of the proposed model improves water consumption by 18% and electricity consumption by 43%, which has a positive economic impact. Not only in the environmental area, there is also a 120% increase in productivity. The value of this proposal lies in the fact that it can be replicated in other companies in the sector, both locally and regionally. It was also proposed to include the operational criterion in the measurement of sustainable performance for a better dimensioning of the improvement.

An adaptive differential evolution algorithm to solve the multi-compartment vehicle routing problem: A case of cold chain transportation problem 解决多车厢车辆路由问题的自适应差分进化算法:以冷链运输问题为例

This research paper introduces an adaptive differential evolution algorithm (ADE algorithm) designed to address the multi-compartment vehicle routing problem (MCVRP) for cold chain transportation of a case study of twentyeight customers in northeastern Thailand. The ADE algorithm aims to minimize the total cost, which includes both the expenses for traveling and using the vehicles. In general, this algorithm consists of four steps: (1) The first step is to generate the initial solution. (2) The second step is the mutation process. (3) The third step is the recombination process, and the final step is the selection process. To improve the original DE algorithm, the proposed algorithm increases the number of mutation equations from one to four. Comparing the outcomes of the proposed ADE algorithm with those of LINGO software and the original DE based on the numerical examples In the case of small-sized problems, both the proposed ADE algorithm and other methods produce identical results that align with the global optimal solution. Conversely, for larger-sized problems, it is demonstrated that the proposed ADE algorithm effectively solves the MCVRP in this case. The proposed ADE algorithm is more efficient than Lingo software and the original DE, respectively, in terms of total cost. The proposed ADE algorithm, adapted from the original, proves advantageous for solving MCVRPs with large datasets due to its simplicity and effectiveness. This research contributes to advancing cold chain logistics with a practical solution for optimizing routing in multi-compartment vehicles.

Advances and emerging research trends in maritime transport logistics: environment, port competitiveness and foreign trade 海运物流的研究进展和新趋势:环境、港口竞争力和对外贸易

The operations of international trade drive global economies, with maritime transport serving as a key pillar in market connectivity and acceleration. The opportunities presented by Industry 4.0 to connect supply chain actors through integrated logistics pose a challenge that fuels the number of studies in this area, with a particular interest in the transportation stage due to its responsibilities for efficiency. This study conducts a systematic literature review by analyzing scientometric aspects and identifying research trends related to maritime transportation logistics. The PRISMA methodology, graph theory, and bibliometric indicators such as indegree, betweenness, and outdegree were employed to process the information related to maritime transportation logistics from the Scopus and Web of Science databases spanning from 2000 to 2022. The gathered information and results were processed and analyzed using R-studio and Bibliometrix tools. The documents were classified as original, structural, and research trends, with the latter focused on topics related to the environment, port competitiveness, logistics optimization, and economics. Finally, an agenda for future research in the field is presented.

Supply chain (SC) disruptions were massive in 2020, with many manufacturers forced to close their operations temporarily. The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has changed the way enterprises perceive risks and the potential effect on their supply chain. Many enterprises are now very dependent on third-party services, so it is necessary to adapt to sustainability challenges. This paper aims to provide a detailed review of research related to risk assessment and mitigation of the SC under lockdown due to COVID-19. Then, it identifies risks associated with supply chains (SCs) during the pandemic using the Failure Mode Effect Analysis. Finally, it suggests improvements to have a fully resilient supply chain. In addition, it explored Supply Chain Resilience (SCR), its phases, and strategies by examining an enterprise that managed COVID-19 pandemic disruptions and turned their potential losses into revenue. Furthermore, we discussed a case study where the enterprise increased its total income by nearly $1 million.

Heijunka-Levelling customer orders: A systematic literature review Heijunka-平整客户订单:系统性文献综述

Heijunka is the central concept of the Toyota Production System which aims to maintain both flexibility and stability of the production system by producing the same quantity of products every time interval (a day, a shift, an hour, etc.). This study is a systematic literature review whose objective is to give an idea about the most important research areas regarding this concept and to propose an agenda for further research. A total of 60 articles were reviewed using specified inclusion and exclusion criteria. The review showed that heijunka received little attention in the academic literature and disclosed the existence of three main research topics, namely: Implementation of heijunka and its benefits, Heijunka-related problem-solving using optimization, and Heijunka and Industry 4.0 technologies. This review could have some limitations related to the number of reviewed articles. It is possible that, unintentionally, some important articles haven’t been included.

Hybrid genetic algorithm to minimize scheduling cost with unequal and job dependent earliness tardiness cost 具有不相等和作业相关的早迟到成本最小化的混合遗传算法

This article presents two combinatorial genetic algorithms (GA), unequal earliness tardiness-GA (UET-GA) and job-dependent earliness tardiness-GA (JDET-GA) for the single-machine scheduling problem to minimize earliness tardiness (ET) cost. The sequence of jobs produced in basic UET and JDET as a chromosome is added to the random population of GA. The best sequence from each epoch is also injected as a population member in the subsequent epoch. The proposed improvement seeks to achieve convergence in less time to search for an optimal solution. Although the GA has been implemented very successfully on many different types of optimization problems, it has been learnt that the algorithm has a search ability difficulty that makes computations NP-hard for types of optimization problems, such as permutation-based optimization problems. The use of a plain random population initialization results in this flaw. To reinforce the random population initialization, the proposed enhancement is utilized to obtain convergence and find a promising solution. The cost is further significantly lowered offering the due date as a decision variable with JDET-GA. Multiple tests were run on well-known single-machine benchmark examples to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed methodology, and the results are displayed by comparing them with the fundamental UET and JDET approaches with a notable improvement in cost reduction.
