Paralyzed patients have always been ideal candidates for physiotherapy. Regardless of the cause that led to the onset of paralysis (whether localized or generalized), physiotherapy helps these patients with devices and methods designed to restore their proper functioning of the body, as well as the quality of life. Obtaining the standing position is the main stage in the therapeutic process, being the indispensable element for the entire protocol. The present study focused on the devices we developed over time, adapting them for each patient, depending on the degree of damage they presented and the possible associated pathologies. At the same time, we wanted these devices to be available for any therapist or even owner, being made of common materials, easy to find, but also affordable.

Peri- and neonatal diarrhea syndrome in young livestock involves numerous adverse consequences on the body, leading to their debilitation and death. Newborn infants, due to their vulnerability caused by an underdeveloped immune system, are at risk of contagiousness from many etiological agents.

Systemic hypertension is a cardiovascular disease increasingly present in geriatric cats. Its consequences on the target organs are also particularly on the eye ,at the level of the retina. The afflicted individuals may present lesions of choroidopathy and hypertensive retinopathy. The objectives of the reported study were to evaluate the clinical and ophthalmological findings, the causes of systemic hypertension in these cats and to discuss the visual prognosis of the individuals. This retrospective study was carried out on a number of 14 patients. The selection criteria were represented by cats suffering from hypertensive retinopathy having a systolic blood pressure greater than 160 mmHg and having an ocular lesion: retinal vascular tortuosity, effusion, hemorrhage, retinal detachment or hyphema. Medical records were reviewed for individuals’ reports, the medical history, ophthalmic examination findings, and ocular ultrasound scans. Most cats were referred because they had decreased visual acuity (42.9%), a history of chronic kidney disease or even for hyphema, glaucoma and anisocoria. Auscultatory cardiac abnormalities were diagnosed in half of the individuals. Chronic kidney disease concomitant with systemic arterial hypertension was the most common (n=12), followed by hyperthyroidism (n=1). The four cats with blood pressure monitoring (n=4) after the administration of amlodipine showed a decrease in blood pressure.

Biosecurity is ensured in a pig fattening farm by implementing a set of organizational and technical measures in order to prevent the introduction, persistence and spread of pathogens, as well as in order to protect animal and public health. This paper describes the main objectives of biosecurity in a pig fattening farm to prevent the risk of introducing and spreading of African swine fever.

Mannheimia haemolytica, formerly known as Pasteurella haemolytica, is a bacterium belonging to the family Pasteurellaceae. It is commonly found in the respiratory tracts of cattle and other ruminant animals, and is a significant pathogen in the cattle industry. This bacterium is known to cause bovine respiratory disease (BRD), which can lead to severe economic losses in the livestock industry.

Osteoarthritis is a common disease of the synovial joints, affecting millions of dogs worldwide and evolving with pain, understanding the mechanisms of pain being the key to success in its prevention and treatment. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of drug combinations in treating pain for chronic patients. In this micro-study, 15 dogs that presented symptoms associated with locomotor pain were included, the main objectives being to determine the degree of pain using a specific questionnaire, to evaluate the questionnaire compared to general and paraclinical examination techniques and to demonstrate the effectiveness of drug therapy and relief of symptoms associated with locomotor pain using long-term pharmaceutical supplements. The study revealed that: therapies with nutraceutical supplements, in the case of locomotor pathologies in dogs, have been shown to have fewer adverse or side effects compared to anti-inflammatory therapy. Treatment with chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine revealed the most positive results in the therapy of locomotor pathologies. In addition to establishing the diagnosis through certain imaging methods, such as computed tomography/radiology, the diagnosis of locomotor disorders can also be ensured, with a high margin of accuracy, through acute/chronic pain interpretation methodologies such as specific questionnaires.

This material is structured as an retrospective study regarding the identification, diagnosis and aplication of a treatment protocol for patients presented with clinical signs compatible with pyrethrin intoxication. The suggestive clinical signs are: hypersalivation, central ataxia and convulsive events. The emergency treatment protocol consists in the management of the convulsive events and toxic shock, removal of the toxicant from the action site and post-presentation monitoring, as well as case resolution.

Canine distemper disease, a viral disease that affects canids, domestic and wild, regardless of age, race and sex, is one of the frequent infectious diseases in this species, evolving seriously, with a fatal outcome. Vaccination schemes practiced in companion canids also include vaccination against this infection produced by the canine distemper virus (CDV). This study aims to monitor the titer of anti-CDV antibodies after vaccination, in order to evaluate the efficiency of post-vaccination immune response.

Lens subluxation is mainly produced by the interruption, damage or degeneration of the suspension system of the zonules. In the case of felines, the primary etiology responsible for the appearance of this pathology is represented by anterior uveitis preceding the moment of diagnosis, often complicated by secondary glaucoma.

Considering the fact that in the specialized literature the data regarding the comparative morphology of the eyeball in birds are summary, being only details regarding the general structure, size and color, for a limited number of species, we considered it necessary to make a complex table, which includes all the anatomical elements from the level of the eye, especially those integrated to the artistic anatomy, a field of great importance for professional taxidermists. Following a laborious study, carried out on different reference materials, we managed to draw up this original table, which is intended to be a useful tool for the correct and easy choice of artificial eyes used in professional taxidermy. Based on this table, top manufacturers can be ordered to manufacture complex artificial eyes that present all the anatomical elements characteristic of a certain bird species.
