The COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the world as an important health problem for the past 2 years, has brought about high morbidity and mortality rates for cancer patients, and therefore, cancer patients have been defined as a vulnerable group in terms of the pandemic. With the rapid spread of COVID-19, many cancer patients had difficulty in accessing health services, were faced with the postponement or delay of their treatment and controls, or postponed their applications to health institutions for fear of COVID-19. As a result of the research, during this period, it was observed that the incidence of anxiety and depression increased in cancer patients and they experienced high levels of fear and distress associated with COVID-19. Among the main sources of these psychological problems are concerns about not being able to access health services, information needs, and problems related to caring, as well as fear of coronavirus sensitivity, difficulty tolerating uncertainty, and feeling lonely in relation to living socially isolated come to the fore. Understanding the psychological effect of COVID-19 on cancer patients can assist in planning care and meeting the psychological support needs of cancer patients during future crises.

The present review was written to describe the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on followup and treatment process of gynecological cancers and breast cancer in accordance with current literature, guidelines from national and international cancer associations Recommendations were provided based on the consensus conference model In the follow-up and treatment process of gynecological cancers and breast cancer, there are many factors, such as the clinical course of patient, the possibility of an emergency of the patient, the stage of the cancer and the current status of the chemotherapies Although opinions in all types of cancer differ among themselves, general beliefs are postponement of non-urgent surgical operations, re-evaluation of chemotherapy processes, postponing appointments for new non-urgent diagnoses, reducing the length of hospital stay of patients in emergency procedures, conducting consultations by telemedicine or telephone, treatment of patients with COVID-19 suspicions after 15 days, planning biopsies or surgeries according to the staging status of cancers and planning conferences as video conferences in cases that require a multidisciplinary approach Patients diagnosed with cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic should not be lost, followup and treatment should be continued witho-ut disruption, patients should be remembered to be in the high-risk group in this process and necessary hygiene measures should be taken in both follow-up and treatment concerning risks and COVID-19 pandemics © 2021, Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology

OBJECTIVE We aimed to assess how Turkish Radiation Oncology departments responded to the COVID-19 out-break and to what extent adapted their routine practice per recent guidelines and recommendations. METHODS In late March 2020, a national survey was designed for Turkish radiation oncologists who were actively practicing and members of the Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology (TSRO). The survey created with an online survey program (www.SurveyMonkey.com), including 28 focused items. It was sent to all members of the TSRO on April 4th 2020. RESULTS Of responders, 17% noted to already complete these arrangements even before the first case announced. All of the responders declared that their team members, including the secretaries, nurses, and radiation therapists in the clinic, worked with appropriate protective equipment. While one-third of the centers (35%) stated to implement a weekly shift, the other 1/3 (29%) chose to use daily shifts for social distancing and decreasing staff contact. Sixty-two percent of all responders indicated that multidisciplinary tumor boards discontinued, and the remaining 38% stated to continue with online video conferencing programs (65%) or meeting in large rooms with a limited number of attendees social distancing (35%). CONCLUSION Our survey revealed the importance of early precautions, communication by other Radiation Oncology Departments, following published guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the importance of using web-based applications for multidisciplinary tumor boards.
SurveyMonkey.com)进行的,包括28个重点项目。

RESULTS Eight (0.94%) out of 843 children who underwent appendectomy during the study period were detected with histological evidence of ACT and were included in the study. Median tumor size was 0.35 (range, 0.1-1) cm. The tumor had invaded the muscularis propria in 4 (50%), the submucosa in 2 (25%), the subserosa in 1 (12.5%), and the mesoappendix in 1 (12.5%) patient. All the patients had tumor-free margins and none of them had lymphadenopathy at diagnosis. Mitotic index and Ki67 levels were >2 in two patients. Only appendectomy was performed in all patients. No recurrence was observed in any patient throughout the follow-up period. Patients were followed up for a mean±SD; 41.2±11.1 months.
