Seizures are one of the most common neural disorders, and may be sporadic or recurrent (epilepsy) crisis. In the case of people with epilepsy, these must be treated throughout their lives, being a major phenytoin prescription for seizure control medicines out. However, despite having several decades in the market there is very little information about their genotoxic effects. Therefore in this study to evaluate the ability of phenytoin to induce genotoxic damage for 30 days using the micronucleus test in mice Mus musculus CD-1 strain. It was determined that the three doses of phenytoin used (2.8, 4.2 and 6.64 mg/kg) induced clastogenicity in mouse chromosomes, that at higher doses the damage is greater. Furthermore, also inhibiting cytotoxic damage induced cell kinetics for doses of 4.2 and 6.64 mg/kg.

Five species of the genus Anastrepha Schiner are reported for the first time from the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. A. bezzii Lima, A. minuta Stone, A. tumida Stone, A. furcata Lima and A. sp. new species, of which last two are new records for Mexico. Some taxonomic aspects are discussed, as well as the relationship of the ecosystems present in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec with the vegetal communities of the Southern Hemisphere, possible diversification patterns of the species present in this region and their relationship with their congeners of Central and South America. With these new reports the number of Anastrepha species recorded in this state increased to 27.

A population of C. acutus was studied in the Natural Protected Area “Estero el Salado” in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México, among november of 2015 and september of 2016. The population abundance was evaluated and the age structure, mortality rate and growth rate were analized. Five samplings were performed in November, December, March, April and September, in order to carry on the species monitoring, finding an abundance of 15.74 ind/km SD ± 6.65, and the neonates population’s mortality rate, which showed constant values, increasing the neonates survivorship. As well the age structure was analized and it was consisted of 62.5% neonates, 28.5 juveniles and 9% sub-adults, without presence of adults, subsequently catches of the organisms were made in order to measure the total lenght of crocodiles, and thereby obtain the growth rate, wich was between 0.12 y 0.17 cm/day. This is the first study that analized the mortality rate of C. acutus neonates in a mangrove swamp, therefore this information could be used to perform better conservation strategies.
