We demonstrated, for the first time, a C-band wavelength demultiplexer based on a Bragg reflector waveguide using InP material. The device shows a large angular dispersion of ~0.75°/nm. Channel resolution is as small as 64GHz.

We jointly optimize network flying platforms (NFPs) deployment and free space optics (FSO) topology formation to minimize the number of NFPs. Moreover, we propose a heuristic algorithm which provides similar performance and lower complexity.

The frequency chirp in directly modulated monolithic optical injection locked (MOIL) DFB laser is investigated. Using the beat frequency technology, the frequency chirp of the MOIL DFB laser is relatively measured. Comparing with the free running state, the frequency chirp in the MOIL DFB laser at directly-modulated state is suppressed significantly.

We have demonstrated accurate frequency transfer via an ultra long span optical-fiber link by passive phase conjugation, which is based on frequency mixing. Combing with the phase-lock-loop, our compensation technique can eliminate the effect of phase noise that introduced during the optical-fiber transmission, so the phase of remote signal is synchronized to the phase of local reference signal. The transfer stability of our experiment with 2.4 GHz frequency signal through a 1007 km fiber link is 6.9_10-14/s and 4.1_10-16/104s.

An optical fiber hydrogen sensor based on Mach-Zehnder interferometer was proposed. The Mach-Zehnder interferometer is composed of a waist-narrowed taper, a waist-enlarged taper and a single mode fiber. The SMF between two tapers was coated with a film of palladium. The energy distribution of the optical fiber sensor was analyzed by using the finite element means. Hydrogen detection sensitivity reaches about two times than the others with an exponential correlation coefficient of 96.9% under the hydrogen concentration range of 0%-3.6%.

In this work, an all-fiber passively Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser(EDFL) is firstly demonstrated by using NbSe2 quantum dot as a saturable absorber(SA), to the best of our knowledge. A stable passively Q-switched laser at 1533 nm is achieved at a threshold pump power of 42 mW by inserting the NbSe2-SA into the EDFL cavity. By increasing gradually the pump power from 42 to 192 mW, the pulse duration decreases from 5.12 to 2.53 μs and the single pulse energy increase from 35.07 to 98.19 nJ. The results indicate that NbSe2 quantum dot has excellent saturable absorption properties, which will have wide potential applications in the field of pulse lasers.

Metasurfaces refer to planarized ultrathin metamaterials which promise an effective approach to control not only waves in the free space but also surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) which is an attractive form of electromagnetic waves propagating along the interface between typical metals and dielectrics. Topological transition metasurfaces have emerged as a fascinating platform to control SPPs. In this work, we propose topological transition metasurfaces for achieving anomalous terahertz surface wave propagation. Combining different complementary H-shape resonators, we observe anomalous wave propagation at the interface where eigenmode of the resonator experiences topological transition. The proposed metasurfaces open unprecedented venues for anomalous surface wave propagation and guidance which show great capabilities for designing photonic devices.
