Recent Advances In Exponential Random Graph Modelling 指数随机图建模的最新进展

Abstract:Exponential random graph models (ERGMs) are one of the most popular statistical methods for analysing relational network structures. ERGMs represent generative statistical network processes that allow researchers to specify sufficient statistics in the form of counts of network configurations associated to potential dependencies between and across particular sets of nodes. In this paper, we review some of the most interesting recent advances for the ERGM framework. In particular, we focus on the modelling extensions for valued, multi-layer and multi-level networks.

Flux Limitation Mechanisms Arising in Multiscale Modelling of Cancer Invasion 肿瘤侵袭多尺度模型中出现的通量限制机制

Tumour invasion is an essential stage of cancer progression. Its main drivers are diffusion and taxis, a directed movement along the gradient of a stimulus. Here we review models with flux limited diffusion and/or taxis which have applications in modelling of cell migration, particularly in cancer. Flux limitation ensures control upon propagation speeds, precluding unnaturally quick spread which is typical for traditional parabolic equations. We recall the main properties of models with flux limitation effects and discuss ways to construct them, concentrating on multiscale derivations from kinetic transport equations.

. We show that there are many sets in the boundary of a bounded symmetric domain that determine the values and norm of holomorphic functions on the domain having continuous extensions to the boundary. We provide an analogue of the Bergmann-Shilov boundary for finite rank JB ∗ -triples.

A Characterisation of the Quaternions Using Commutators 用对易子描述四元数

Abstract:

Let R be an associative ring with 1, which is not commutative. Assume that any non-zero commutator vR satisfies: v2 is in the centre of R, and v is not a zero divisor.

We prove that R has no zero divisors, and that if char(R) ≠ 2, then the localisation of R at its centre is a quaternion division algebra. Our proof is elementary and self contained.

Parallelogram Frameworks and Flexible Quasicrystals 平行四边形框架和柔性准晶体

The first-order flex space of the bar-joint framework $G_P$ of a parallelogram tiling $P$ is determined in terms of an explicit free basis. Applications are given to braced parallelogram frameworks and to quasicrystal frameworks associated with multigrids in the sense of de Bruijn and Beenker. In particular we characterise rigid bracing patterns, identify quasicrystal frameworks with finite dimensional flex spaces, and define a zero mode spectrum.

A finite group is said to have "perfect order classes" if the number of elements of any given order is either zero or a divisor of the order of the group. The purpose of this note is to describe explicitly the finite Hamiltonian groups with perfect order classes. We show that a finite Hamiltonian group has perfect order classes if, and only if, it is isomorphic to the direct product of the quaternion group of order $8$, a non-trivial cyclic $3$-group and a group of order at most $2$. Theorem. A finite Hamiltonian group has perfect order classes if, and only if, it is isomorphic either to $Qtimes C_{3^k}$ or to $Qtimes C_{2}times C_{3^k}$, for some positive integer $k$.

We consider formal maps in any finite dimension $d$ with coefficients in an integral domain $K$ with identity. Those invertible under formal composition form a group $G$. We consider the centraliser $C_g$ of an element $ginG$ which is tangent to the identity of $G$. Elements of finite order always have a large centraliser. If $g$ has infinite order our main result is that $C_g$ is uncountable, and in fact contains an uncountable abelian subgroup. This holds regardless of the characteristic of $K$, but the proof is quite different in finite characteristic than in characteritic zero.

Necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for the infinitesimal rigidity of braced grids in the plane with respect to non-Euclidean norms. Component rectangles of the grid may carry 0, 1 or 2 diagonal braces, and the combinatorial part of the conditions is given in terms of a matroid for the bicoloured bipartite multigraph defined by the braces.

Coboundary operators for infinite frameworks 无限框架的共边界算子

We consider, from the point of view of operator theory, a class of infinite matrices in which the matrix entries are determined by an underlying graph structure with accompanying geometric data. This class includes the rigidity matrices of infinite bar-joint frameworks as well as the incidence matrices of infinite directed graphs. We consider the following questions: When do these matrices give rise to bounded operators? Can we compute the operator norm? When are these operators compact? And when are they bounded below?
