The random access technique has a bigger influence to the performance optimization of CDMA2000 data traffic. A CDMA2000 random access technique based on self-similar model and its performance analysis are put forward in this paper. The simulation results indicate that the access performance of CDMA2000 data traffic based on self-similar model is attenuated by power law, related to such parameters as fractal coefficient H and network load G. The CDMA2000 fractal window random access protocol (FWRAP) is put forward and it can improve the access performance of CDMA2000 data traffic distinctly.

Due to the strong ability in combating multipath fading, OFDM has been adopted in IEEE802.11a standard and has received considerable attention. The fundamental physical layer parts of OFDM-based IEEE802.11a are modeled and simulated in this paper. Second, we discussed the bit error rate performance of BCH, cyclic and convolutional coding in AWGN channel. Moreover, the system performance of four working modes defined in IEEE802.11a standard which are BPSK, QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM are compared respectively. Especially, we analyze the system performance of PSK and QAM with or without Rayleigh fading. We conclude our work based on simulations and analysis.

In this paper, we present an optical wireless communication system with cells linearly distributed along the railways continuously, which could provide seamless-access high speed data networks for passengers on the high speed railways (HSR). Using three different wavelengths, 10 Gb/s data rates networks access has been obtained in simulations.

Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) is an efficient technique to reduce the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals without any distortion. For further improving the PAPR reduction performance, a continuous-phase PTS (CP-PTS) scheme has been proposed. In this paper, an improved phase selection algorithm is developed for CP-PTS for more efficient PAPR reduction. We show that the proposed technique can efficiently improve the PAPR reduction performance but without additional computational complexity.

Cooperative relay communication techniques, which form the virtual MIMO systems through cooperation among different nodes, have been attracted more attentions. This paper provides an overview of state-of-the-art capacity for cooperative relay networks. Firstly, it introduces backgrounds, basic model and working mode of cooperative relay networks. Then, the capacity of amplify-and-forward (AF) dual-hop fading channel is summarized, and the two-way AF single-relay fading channel capacity and power allocation criterions are discussed. Finally, it states the main research results for the performance of the relay selection algorithms in the two-way multiple relay, and proposes the future research directions.

The 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) long term evolution (LTE) standard uses orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access (OFDMA) in downlink and single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) scheme for the uplink transmissions, which utilizes single carrier modulation and frequency domain equalization. In this paper, we compared and analyzed the performance of the nonlinear companding schemes, i.e., Raised-Cosine-like scheme and power function scheme, to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of SC-FDMA signals, and summarized the nonlinear features that the schemes should have. Both the nonlinear schemes could transform the original SC-FDMA signals into nonlinear-distributed. Moreover, the schemes can compress the large input signals, while maintaining the average power constant. Computer simulation results show that the PAPR reduction performance of the power function scheme is better than that of the Raised-Cosine-like scheme.

In recent years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are booming to meet the fast-increasing requirements of data-centric services. Current researches on heterogeneous WSNs usually assume the integration of fixed sink node or gateway in WSNs. A few researches have concerned about the mobile terminals acting as a gateway. In order to support high priority communication Quality of Service (QoS), this paper proposes a cellular-assisted QoS-aware resource allocation algorithm for the convergence of cellular networks and WSN. A mobile terminal acts as both sensor nodes for WSNs and UE for cellular networks. Thus, this mobile terminal can act as a gateway and scheduler to manage the resource of WSN, and significantly reduce collisions and guarantee the QoS of WSNs through BS-assistance. Simulation results show better system performance, in terms of high priority WSN data transmission delay and packet loss rate.

A dual-band printed diversity antenna for UMTS and 2.4/5.2-GHz WLAN operation is proposed. The antenna consists of two back-to-back F-shaped monopoles placed symmetrically with respect to a protruding T-shaped ground plane. Across the two bands, the antenna has two highly decoupled ports and can provide pattern diversity to combat multipath fading.

Internet of Things (IoT) built on the existing (mobile) Internet has emerged as a solution to effectively interact with environment around us. In this paper, we investigate the application of IoT in the area of pervasive medicine. We propose a practical network architecture for local medicine and health system based on GSM/3G/Internet infrastructure and Wireless Body Area Sensor Network (WBASN), called Community Medical Networks (CMN). CMN needs lower cost for deployment, supports user's mobility, can reduce the time and cost of diagnosis and treatment of diseases (especially chronic/paroxysmal diseases) as well as realizes individualization (patient-centered), cooperation and data-sharing in a distributed manner. We describe the implementation of CMN in detail in application level and operation level (business model). We also analyze the requirement of traffic related parameters of CMN when using WCDMA and Zigbee-based WBASN. A promising use case of CMN for heart disease is given to illustrate the feasibility, economical and social benefit of implementing CMN in typical Chinese cities.
