In the territory of the Republic of Croatia, not a single airport is connected to the railway infrastructure, which is a limiting factor for the further development of air cargo transport. The traffic network within the catchment area of Franjo Tudman Airport in Zagreb is not sufficiently interconnected, and therefore the implementation of the rules of the single market within the transport sectors is uneven. This paper aims to investigate the factors of intermodality of air transport and other modes of transport, focusing on cases of infrastructure integration in order to improve transport connectivity. The research analysed several airports where increase in cargo traffic was influenced by the expanding capacities and connectivity at the airport. By calculating the coefficient of utilisation of the intermodal surfaces of the reference airports, it was determined that the increase of these capacities does not necessarily lead to a significant increase in air cargo transport. However, due to estimates of the global growth of air cargo transport, an adequate and modernised infrastructure gives an advantage of better positioning in the transport market compared to those airports that do not have such resources. Based on the obtained results and increased investment to improve rail speeds and intermodal accessibility, the modular approach of expanding the infrastructure, through monitoring of cargo transport utilisation coefficient, is considered sustainable.

The traffic sign identification and recognition system (TSIRS) is an essential component for autonomous vehicles to succeed. The TSIRS helps to collect and provide helpful information for autonomous driving systems. The information may include limits on speed, directions for driving, signs to stop or lower the speed, and many more essential things for safe driving. Recently, incidents have been reported regarding autonomous vehicle crashes due to traffic sign identification and recognition system failures. The TSIRS fails to recognize the traffic signs in challenging conditions such as skewed signboards, scratches on traffic symbols, discontinuous or damaged traffic symbols, etc. These challenging conditions are presented for various reasons, such as accidents, storms, artificial damage, etc. Such traffic signs contain an ample amount of noise, because of which traffic sign identification and recognition become a challenging task for automated TSIRS systems. The proposed method in this paper addresses these challenges. The sign edge is a helpful feature for the recognition of traffic signs. A novel traffic sign edge detection algorithm is introduced based on bilateral filtering with adaptive thresholding and varying aperture size that effectively detects the edges from such noisy images. The proposed edge detection algorithm and transfer learning is used to train the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models and recognize the traffic signs. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated and compared with existing edge detection methods. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves optimal Mean Square Error (MSE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) error rates and has a better Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) ratio than the traditional edge detection algorithms. Furthermore, the precision rate, recall rate, and F1 scores are evaluated for the CNN models. With the German Traffic Sign Benchmark database (GTSRB), the proposed algorithm and Inception V3 CNN model gives promising results when it receives the edge-detected images for training and testing.

Rail transport is one of the branches of transport included in the group of land transport, and its operation is related to the transport of people and cargo by means of rail transport on a specially designated railroad built for this purpose. The article presents the classification of transported cargo in rail transport, the characteristics of the rail transport market in Europe, as well as the results of the analysis of the rail transport volume in Poland in 2010-2021. This analysis included an assessment of the following features: mass of transported cargo, performed transport and operational work, the average distance of cargo transport for a group of cargo transported by rail and the volume of intermodal transport. The obtained results allowed to conclude that the transport of goods by rail is systematically increasing. Moreover, intermodal transport is developing well.

Following the events related to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, increasing air traffic also increases turnaround agents' activity at airports. Turnaround operations are among the critical activities performed at airports, which must be characterized by punctuality and accuracy of the elementary handling operations. Lack of punctuality in ground handling causes delays in air traffic. On the other hand, a lack of accuracy can also cause disruptions that can turn into aviation incidents. Achieving punctuality and accuracy in aircraft handling is possible by minimizing the resulting disruptions during such handling. The safety management system (SMS) assumes activities to reduce the causes of potential incidents. In the turnaround process, the human factor, the technical aspect, and compliance with existing procedures are significant. The authors have extensively analyzed the disruptions arising during ground handling, learning its causes and effects, which will help avoid adverse events. Occurring disruptions can cause delays in the execution of flight operations but can also cause aviation incidents. Therefore, the authors focused on ground-handling disruptions that can cause adverse aviation incidents. The article presents the interference analysis results as an Ishikawa diagram. Using the FRAM method, an analysis of possible disruptions during the baggage handling process was carried out.

The main idea of the article is assessing the feasibility of introducing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for airlines. Moreover, the authors think that the environmental aspect in CSR is the most important, which predetermined the focus on this CSR component in the article. The article provides several examples of airlines that actively use CSR to improve their image, attract new, and increase the loyalty of existing customers. Environment indicators of the flight operations group on the performance indicators were established.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, PT. XYZ, the biggest aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company in Indonesia, implemented a new shift pattern for line-maintenance personnel. The new shift pattern allows maintenance personnel to have fewer working hours per day (7-hour shifts) in more shift varieties for 5 consecutive days. Maintenance personnel will have 2-morning shifts, 1-noon shift, and 2-night shifts followed by 3 rest days. This study aims to explore the risk of fatigue caused by the newly implemented shift pattern. Data were collected through electronic questionnaires from a total of 303 respondents. This study found that at the time of the survey, many respondents (78 of 303, 26%) felt tired and had difficulty concentrating, regardless of the shift they were in. Based on the duty time, the highest scores of level 6 (tired, difficult to concentrate) were discovered on night shift day 5. This result shows that although the organization had provided the maintenance personnel with the opportunity to obtain sleep during rest days, tiredness and fatigue were still experienced by the aircraft maintenance personnel. This study recommends necessary actions to be taken to prevent fatigue, especially from the noon shift afterwards, where fatigue level is increasing, and alertness level is decreasing.

This paper presents the results of a stability analysis of a slope located in the immediate vicinity of a railway line. The plans for the extension of this railway track include the construction of another line, which would run parallel to the existing one, within a few metres distance. It is expected that intensive goods train traffic will generate both static and dynamic forces in the underlying subsoil. Consequently, seismic vibrations will be generated in the subsoil, propagating mainly not only in the horizontal direction but also in the vertical direction. The method of seismic coefficient of the earthquake intensity determined by a pseudo-static method and horizontal component of acceleration is appropriate and recommended because it is simple, and the safety factor of the slope is calculated in the same way as in conventional stability calculations.

Research on the influence of geometric parameters of body bottom elements on the stress-strain state (SSS) of the truck with the general application of computer simulation methods was conducted. The nature of the change in static stress and displacement depending on the change in the proportions of the cross-section of the channel at fixed geometric dimensions of the workpiece and the thickness of the workpiece and the bottom material of the body has been studied. Analytical, numerical and experimental methods were used in the study of the stress-strain state of the metal structure of car bodies. Its weight minimization is an important aspect of a truck body design. Because an excess weight leads to increased production costs, reduced payload and reduced fuel efficiency. According to the concept of weight reduction with the provision of a given strength, the body model with variable parameters of the bottom elements is modelled and analyzed. CAD - body models and analysis of the stress-strain state of the channels of the bottom of the bodies have been performed using the software package SolidWorks.

Every year, a large number of traffic accidents occur on Polish roads. However, the pandemic of recent years has reduced the number of these accidents, although the number is still very high. For this reason, all measures should be taken to reduce this number. This article aims to forecast the number of road accidents in Poland. Thus, using Statistica software, the annual data on the number of road accidents in Poland were analyzed. Based on actual past data, a forecast was made for the future, for the period 2022-2040. Forecasting the number of accidents in Poland was conducted using selected neural network models. The results show that a reduction in the number of traffic accidents is likely. The choice of the number of random samples (learning, testing and validation) affects the results obtained.

With the expansion of the use of digital technologies, the nature of almost all service industries has changed. Taxi services are no exception. The use of mobile applications, and the creation of call centres, have simplified the access of passengers to taxis and created a new situation. Despite this, with the emergence of a new situation, new problems appeared. This article aims to study taxi services organization and regulation. Thus, surveys were conducted to study attitudes towards offered services for passengers and drivers, the main participants in the taxi market. The questionnaires are aimed at studying the satisfaction of passengers and the attitude of drivers to working conditions. The total weight of using a taxi in comparison with other types of urban transport is determined. The frequency and main reasons for requests for taxi services were identified. This paper also studied the degree of use of mobile applications for calling a taxi and the distribution of orders between taxi companies. Surveys among drivers were mainly aimed at studying the mode of their work and their attitude to the conditions offered by taxi companies. To solve the identified problems, an appropriate regulation method through a single digital platform was proposed.
