The use of wood as a natural and environmentally friendly material is expanding, but to increase the rationality of its use, it is necessary to know the qualitative indicators of this variable material. They depend on the species, the age of the tree, the region and the growing conditions. Evaluation of the quality of wood involves experiments that require time and special equipment. The least time-consuming procedure for assessing the quality of wood is to use macrostructure parameters, which include the percentage of late wood and the width of the annual layer. The width of the annual layer can be easily measured not only in the laboratory, but also in the field. The purpose of the study was to establish the nature of the change in the percentage of late wood in Scots pine from the forest-steppe zone along the radius of the trunk, as well as the parameters of the width of the annual layer, at which the percentage of late wood will be of the greatest importance. The percentage of late wood affects the physical and mechanical properties of wood, the greater its value, the better the wood.

The article provides quantitative indicators of the movement of fixed assets of the enterprise for the studied period of time. The tasks of organizing the production of power transmission poles from modified wood are divided into short-term and long-term. Short-term tasks include: attracting investments to create production; designing and manufacturing of the industrial plant SPK-5M and testing the technology of mass production of pillars with a length of 10.7 m; increasing the volume of production of poles from modified wood; creating additional jobs. The long-term tasks include: the organization of the production of power transmission poles from modified low-value hardwood according to the original technology; the introduction of the developed technology for the production of poles at an existing wood processing enterprise; mastering the supply of poles to the foreign market.

The article presents the results of experimental studies of the effect of forest fires on the structure of the annual layer and its parts of pine wood. The harmful effect of forest fires is expressed, first of all, in the direct destruction and damage of wood by fire. Wood raw materials harvested from various growing conditions differ in a number of qualitative indicators. In the practical use of wood damaged by fire, the characteristics of the macrostructure are used for a preliminary assessment of its quality, calculated for the most part according to the parameters of the annual layer. The revealed changes in the pre-fire and post-fire growth of wood will allow us to judge the quality and vital activity of pine stands growing in forest-steppe conditions.
