The conduction route of animal olfactory system has been proposed in this paper. Pattern recognition is considered as the inherent mechanism of the nature and the base of intelligence, which is established on simulation of brain computing pattern. According to this view, the pattern recognition module from computing pattern existing in the olfactory organs to current computer simulation mode inspired by the olfactory organs has been presented in gas inspection device, which mainly based on neutral networks. The module adopts the multi-function sensors array to establish the input layer of neutral networks for online perception. Due to the identification training of neutral networks the identification of qualitative and quantity is finally implemented through the self-learning and analysis.

This paper presents an automatic software upgrade method for an next-generation network (NGN) switch instead of the manual software upgrade. An expert system is designed for the automation upgrade, and a two-step inference is adopted in its inference engine. The expert system can handle most of exceptions and faults during the upgrade and make the software upgrade automation, and its knowledge base can be expanded by on-line learning and off-line learning. This paper gives the detailed implementation of the automatic upgrade strategy and the expert system, and describes the two-step inference algorithm. The automation upgrade method can save the NGN switch upgrade time, improve the reliability of the NGN switch software upgrade and decrease the network administrator (user) work force. The experiment result shows the automatic software upgrade method has the great performance improvement compared to the manual software upgrade.

An information retrieval (IR) process begins when a user enters a query into the system. Queries are formal statements of information needs, for example search strings in web search engines. In IR a query does not uniquely identify a single object in the collection. Instead, several objects may match the query, perhaps with different degrees of relevancy. An object is an entity which keeps or stores information in a database. User queries are matched to objects stored in the database. Depending on the application the data objects may be, for example, text documents, images or videos. The documents themselves are not kept or stored directly in the IR system, but are instead represented in the system by document surrogates. Most IR systems compute a numeric score on how well each object in the database match the query, and rank the objects according to this value. The top ranking objects are then shown to the user. The process may then be iterated if the user wishes to refine the query. In this paper we try to explain IR methods and asses them from two view points and finally propose a simple method for ranking terms and documents on IR and implement the method and check the result.

The company's quality goals would be achieved by the successful implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques. SPC techniques are simple statistical techniques to help identify process problems and it can be implemented as simple as analyzing data and plotting charts. This paper highlights the results of an effort to design the SPC computer-based system for conducting simple statistical analysis. The system named as SMEs-SPC (Small and Medium Enterprises - Statistical Process Control), which is able to offer more benefits to the Malaysian SMEs. The preliminary study involved interviews with company representatives, as well as observations on their environment. This paper is a continuation of our previous study which focused on issues concerning design and development of online SMEs-SPC system. This paper has offered some suggestions for developing the SMEs-SPC system, for example, enables users little statistical training to perform simple statistical analysis, users at all levels will be able to access data at flexible times; reduce time to input and retrieval historical data, prevent errors in calculation, trigger out-of-control data automatically and avoid late information on out-of-control event in production. The value of this study should be particularly useful to SME manufacturing firms that are contemplating the adoption of advance manufacturing technology.

The vehicle routing problem is one of the most challenging optimization tasks involved in searching optimal route sets in operational research. The objective of solving Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP) is to identify a set of shortest paths for a fleet of individual vehicles with fixed capacity from a central depot that serve all customer demand. This study describes a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) computing model, a modified Adleman-Lipton model, for calculating path distance with respect to vertex set of given paths with embedded capacity constraint, exponentially accelerating the search for the solution of CVRP with large nodes by executing molecular operation in parallel processing. This work provided molecular solutions via four steps: (1) generating the solution space of all partial paths, (2) collecting feasible paths, (3) calculating vertices capacity, and (4) gathering strands with the minimum distance.

This paper discusses the activating role of e-Governments in the Arab countries, by seeking new rules and innovative ways to provide services to the public sector. It starts from the analysis of different stages and dimensions of e-government through better understanding of the phenomenon and investment of opportunities in Information Technology in order to develop the role of governments and departments of public affairs particularly in Arab countries. In the developing countries most of the Arab governments may be doing their best to deliver the best services they can offer but with low level of efficiency and high cost. This raised many questions about productivity and performance of government agencies; the problem of low productivity and poor performance in the government sector that affected individuals and administrative units. This paper aims to analyze the different stages, concepts and dimensions of e-government and to understand the opportunities that information technology offers, especially in Arab countries in order to develop the government role as well as public affairs administration system

This paper describes a blind separation algorithm of monaural sound based on peak tracking of frequency spectra. We have already reported a blind separation method based on the change ratio of frequency components. However, it cannot handle a signal with frequency fluctuation such as a speech signal or a vibrato tone, because such type of signal is regarded as the mixture of different sounds. Our new method proposed in this paper can handle a sound with frequency fluctuation by tracking frequency peaks along time axis. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated with some experiments on real voice data.
