Accuracy in Reverberation Chamber Antenna Correlation Measurements 混响室天线相关测量的精度

Mobile communication terminals with multiple antennas for simultaneous reception of a signal, e.g. for diversity or MIMO implementation, become more and more common. In such terminals the correlation coefficient of the signals received by two antennas is an important parameter. There are several methods for measuring the correlation coefficient. A fast and low-cost method is reverberation chamber measurements. This paper presents a numerical study of the accuracy of this method. Monte Carlo simulations are performed in which the correlation coefficient is estimated from data sequences with known correlation coefficient, with various types of errors applied. Average and spread of the estimated coefficients are presented, and conclusions are drawn on what to consider when designing a reverberation chamber for correlation coefficient measurements.

Small Antennas for Medical Applications 用于医疗的小型天线

Various types of medical applications of antennas have widely been investigated. Since these antennas are used in and around a human body, the size of the antennas must be small. Particularly, in order to realize minimally invasive treatment, small-size antennas are desired. This paper describes a few antennas for hyperthermia which is one of thermal therapies for cancer. The authors et al. have developed a coaxial-slot antenna, which is one of thin microwave antennas to be employed for interstitial as well as intracavitary microwave hyperthermia. Two different types of coaxial-slot antennas are then introduced for the treatment of brain tumor and bile duct carcinoma.

Antennas Challenges for Body Centric Communications 以身体为中心通信的天线挑战

Communications using antennas on the body is now of interest to enable systems to be developed for a number of applications, including personal entertainment, communications and health related needs. This paper discusses some of the challenges facing designers developing antennas for these applications. For communications links on the body from different equipment, such as a mobile phone, headset or health sensor, channels are currently being characterised and antennas are required that operate well in such a varying environment. Some requirements and early types are discussed. Antennas using fabric materials are also being studied and some examples are shown.

This paper investigates the application of a small ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with a reduced ground-plane effect in a wireless USB dongle, which is attached to a laptop computer. The antenna is printed onto a piece of PCB and embedded into a wireless universal serial bus (USB) dongle. The radiator may be co-planar or perpendicular to the PCB. The impedance and radiation characteristics of the proposed antennas are examined when the antennas are placed in free space as well as attached to a laptop computer.

Sub-diffraction Focusing through Compensated Bilayer of Anisotropic Metamaterials: Theoretical Analysis and Experimental Verification 各向异性超材料补偿双层亚衍射聚焦:理论分析与实验验证

We analyze the sub-diffraction focusing through compensated bilayer of anisotropic metamaterials as an expansion of the perfect lens configuration, and study the material loss and retardation effect on the image properties. Through rigorous analysis of the electromagnetic wave transmission and numerical calculations of the electromagnetic field distribution, we demonstrate that the anisotropic bilayer lens exhibits a decreased sensitivity to material loss and retardation, therefore has a better image with sub-diffraction resolution than that of the isotropic perfect lens configuration. We also report on the realization of the planar lens of anisotropic compensated bilayer through periodic loaded transmission line metamaterials. We show that the circuit simulation and experimental result verify the sub-diffraction focusing at microwave frequency. The measured half-power beamwidth of the point source image formed by the lens is 0.08 effective wavelengths, which is far beyond the diffraction limit.

Broadband Linearly Tapered Slot Antenna with Corrugated Edges for Phased Array and Multi-beam Systems 用于相控阵和多波束系统的波纹边宽带线性锥形槽天线

This paper reports uniplanar linearly tapered slot antennas (LTSA) with corrugated edges exhibiting wide impedance bandwidth and improved radiation patterns with experimental verification. The antenna is fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) and the input impedance of LTSA is matched to 50 Omega CPW feed line by means of Marchand baluns. Impedance, radiation and gain characteristics of the proposed antenna both on low-index RT-Duroid and high-index silicon substrates are presented and discussed. From experimental results, the measured impedance bandwidth of the corrugated antenna developed on RT-Duroid is widened from 4 GHz to 5.5 GHz at 17 GHz. The effect of corrugation structure at the edges of silicon-LTSA is more pronounced for radiation pattern and the analytical results show modification of distorted radiation pattern into correct LTSA radiation characteristics.

The antenna is suitable for integration into mobile devices especially laptop computers and offers advantages in size, cost, and performance. Future study will concentrate on extending the antenna bandwidth to cover the UMTS band. Further antenna size reduction is necessary for smaller laptops.

High frequency ratio antenna for RFID tags 用于RFID标签的高频比天线

A novel high frequency ratio of about 180 for dual-frequency radio frequency identification (RFID) antenna with two different operation mechanisms (near field and far field operation) is proposed. The proposed antenna is obtained by printing a rectangular-spiral-shaped and a meander-shaped line, which is placed above on a rectangular microwave substrate as a RFID tag's antenna where its ground plane is at the bottom of substrate. The proposed antenna is fed by a 50 Omega microstrip line printed on the same substrate, and the antenna's two resonant frequencies can be excited with good impedance matching. Closer to omni-directional radiation patterns and the lower cross-polarization levels (at least 25-dB) are also obtained

The proposed antenna is obtained by printing a rectangular-spiral-shaped and a meander-shaped line, which is placed above on a rectangular microwave substrate as a RFID tag's antenna where its ground plane is at the bottom of substrate. The proposed antenna is fed by a 50 Omega microstrip line printed on the same substrate, and the antenna's two resonant frequencies can be excited with good impedance matching.
