Urban regeneration is a common challenge especially for post-industrial cities. Cultural and creative entrepreneurship is one possible option since culture-led urban development is a sustainable approach, involving different types of communities, increasing social cohesion, and cultural dynamism. The paper aims to understand how knowledge exchange is connected to social innovation and urban regeneration, analysing several situations in Romania. Several dimensions are considered, such as the role of the policy framework and public administration, the dynamics of the relationship between the actors involved, knowledge sharing processes, innovation drivers and the impact of cultural and creative initiatives on the urban, physical and mental fabric.

This paper aims to explore granular understanding of creative placemaking within the trajectories of creative city discourse, and to analyse creative placemaking strategies that revolves around the creativity of individuals in terms of their 'making' practices. The methodology presents a literature review on the evolution of creative city discourse, and a content analysis of the placemaking components since 2010. The discussion intends to delineate particular drivers and key tactics put into context. The findings present four major drivers, namely; arts, design and craft as ways of making; individuals as creative initiators and makers; action areas as physicality of co-creation; and creative partnerships as channels of collaboration. The results contribute to a new narrative moving creative city from validating placemaking in primarily economic terms toward a broader consideration of social assets and place-specific values through co-creation, production and community engagement.

The manufacturing industry, traditionally anchored in material resources, now faces the challenge to integrate knowledge-related activities to leverage development and foster jobs, wealth and economic growth. This study used extensive literature review, a qualitative study in manufacturing companies in Caxias do Sul (Brazil), and a Delphi consultation with experts from 12 countries to create a conceptual framework for knowledge-based development (KBD) in the manufacturing industry. The study revealed that knowledge markets nowadays require organisations to shift from a price-led competition to an attribute-led competition to foster better results through the implementation of knowledge assets in their value proposition. The framework generated is a guideline for repositioning the value system of the manufacturing industry in a knowledge-based universe.

This study addresses the diffusion of innovation in commercial clusters through the formal network analysis. The objective is to describe the innovation diffusion processes in business networks from Rogers' model perspective in which innovation is influenced by its social structure. The research considered the relation between centrality and diffusion potential of actors of a commercial cluster in Brazil. A survey was applied in the cluster of bars and restaurants of Vila Madalena region in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As result, the network with approximately 70 organisations was mapped. It allowed us to understand the social structure of the cluster, as well as the identification of the structural properties of the network. We found a significant relationship between centrality and innovation of the actors present in that cluster.

The aim of this research is to study the nature and extent of impact of learning and growth perspectives on dynamic capability. The associated constructs were developed from content analysis from expert interviews and extensive review of literature. The constructs were measured using a Likert scale for a sample of respondents from the Indian IT industry. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used for testing reliability, validity of the model and hypothesis testing. Results indicated that information capital and human capital had higher significant impact on alliance management, reconfiguration, learning and integration capabilities. Considering the ever-growing complexity and dynamism in the IT industry, the results from the study helps to gain insights into the nature and extent of impact of learning and growth perspectives on dynamic capabilities in a granular form. Accordingly, the study adds to the current literature in strategic management, particularly on how to win.

Open innovation platforms (OIPs) have been described as a new generation of co-creation spaces that enable the different actors of the innovation ecosystem to interact with each other and to facilitate user-driven innovation. Here the utility of OIPs was scrutinised with two case study examples: one from South Korea and one from Finland. In the two cases, OIPs provide a problem-solving cooperative model that gives young innovators authority promoting their transformation from users into producers and co-creators of innovative products and services. Moreover, OIPs play a key role in the innovation ecosystem by facilitating collaboration, diversity and social sustainability. The two cases are, however, very different in terms of transferability. While the Korean OIP is motivated to maintain its long-term investments in one region but less inspired to relocate and spread its success model to other regions, the Finnish OIP has expanded internationally to several other countries.

The role of absorptive capacity (AC) has been widely recognised in the innovation literature. This study examines the predictive role of AC for business performance, and evaluates the mediation of market orientation (responsive-proactive) and innovation competences orientation (exploitation-exploration) in that relationship. The findings show that innovation competence orientations are more important to business performance than market orientations and that innovation competences are better enhanced by AC than by market orientations. AC is not only confirmed as an antecedent of ambidextrous market and innovation competence orientation, but it also helps directly and indirectly to explain business performance. Responsive market orientation (REMKTOR) and innovation competence orientation mediate the positive relationship between AC and business performance. The intensity and significance of the indirect effects reveal the specific knowledge-transformative roles of market and innovation competences orientations. Firms seem to mitigate uncertainty by adjusting their preferences toward less risky innovation strategies.

The main aim of this paper is to address and elucidate both the functions and the roles of intelligent transport systems, and to provide an overview of their development in Turkey. The major objectives of this paper are to give a clear understanding of and comment on intelligent transportation trends, and to discuss the impact of intelligent transport on traffic status in Turkey. Most of the indicated technologies and applications belong to various disciplines; hence, through the present paper's material, we attempt to close gaps and offer a comprehensive overview. Some of the key intelligent transport system indicators are road and traffic information, dynamic traffic light sequences, smart bus stops, emergency vehicle notifications, emergency services, electronic toll collection, variable messages, wireless communication, and traveller information. Understanding these components can help developers and researchers comprehend how advanced sending can play a crucial role in intelligent transport systems.

This paper examines the role of Technology-based Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (T-KIBS) as potential suppliers of crucial knowledge for innovation in foreign and domestic manufacturing firms in medium technology sectors. An emphasis is made on the mechanisms in which T-KIBS impact the innovation outputs of firms. The analysis is based on a sample of 3 907 manufacturing firms with 10 or more employees from the period of 2010 to 2013. The results show that product innovation in medium-low-tech (MLT) and medium-high-tech (MHT) manufacturing firms is positively influenced by T-KIBS to different extents depending on their ownership. Our findings suggest that T-KIBS might be linked to greater rates of innovation in manufacturing firms in an emerging economy.
