The digital business ecosystem paradigm emerged worldwide as an approach supporting the adoption and development of interoperable infrastructures among SMEs, supporting them to achieve their goals efficiently. The aim of this article is to present a novel three-layered approach towards the creation of a digital business ecosystem for the shoe manufacturing domain, following ebXML scenario and framework, and using open-source software. Relevant related works are also discussed, emphasizing the innovative aspects and advantages of this novel approach.

OpenSocial: From Social Networks to Social Ecosystem OpenSocial:从社交网络到社交生态系统

Unlike the physical world where social ecosystems are formed from the integrated and managed relationships between individuals and organisations, the online digital world consists of many independent, isolated and incompatible social networks established by organisations that have overlapping and manually managed relationships. To bring the online digital world in-line with the physical world, integration of social networks, identification of overlapping relationships in social networks, and automation of relationship management in social networks are required. OpenSocial is a framework that enables social networks to interlink and self-organise into a social ecosystem guided by the policies of individuals and organisations.

Towards Improving the Availability of Service Compositions 改进服务组合的可用性

The proliferation of open Internet-scale service-oriented platforms based on standards, such as WSDL, SOAP and BPEL, enables the composition of independent Web services into new value-added services. Such service compositions define the information flows between autonomous and potentially heterogeneous services across the boundaries of independent provider organisations. The availability of individual services in such digital ecosystems is likely to be variable due to fluctuating usage load and resource limitations imposed by a service provider's infrastructure. This problem becomes more acute as the number of services in a composition increases. This paper presents a mediation model for improving the availability of composed services. The mediation model masks failures in a service composition by transparently selecting (and executing) an alternative composition at runtime. Service consumers use a common interface to a set of functionally equivalent service compositions while a selection mechanism identifies the most suitable (alternative) service composition. An evaluation of our implementation of the proposed mediation model demonstrates that the consumer perceived availability of value-added services can be improved significantly.

Providing Security for Digital Ecosystems with Adaptative Encryption 利用自适应加密技术为数字生态系统提供安全保障

One of the most important issues for digital ecosystems is the encryption of sensitive data across the different ecosystems, as the heterogeneity in their nature, capabilities and necessities make it very difficult to find a solution that may be applied to all of them. There are not proposals that suit these specific needs of digital ecosystems, especially the flexibility, required for defining adequate security policies and favouring secure information exchange. In this paper we show how adaptative encryption can provide digital ecosystems with a flexible, while secure, means for protecting information.

UN/CEFACT's modeling methodology (UMM) is a UML profile for modeling global B2B choreographies. The current UMM version comprises three main views for describing a computation independent model from a neutral perspective. Currently, the UMM version is missing a platform independent model showing how each partner has to realize the message exchanges to support the agreed choreography. In this paper we derive such a platform independent model from a UMM business transaction - a key artifact of the computation independent model. The resulting model is based on a state machine describing the local view of a participating business partner. This state machine unambiguously defines how a business partner has to react on incoming messages and on message expected but not received.

A Novel Fingerprinting Architecture for Relational Data 一种新的关系数据指纹体系结构

In this paper, a novel fingerprinting architecture called NoFiA is proposed to protect relational data in database systems from illegal duplications and redistribution. NoFiA has three features: 1) It is able to embed different fingerprints according to the differences of users. 2) Through this architecture, the fingerprinting process doesn't modify the original data. 3) It is easy to manage the parameters of fingerprinting. A prototype of this architecture has been realized. A lot of experiments have been made to validate the usability of NoFiA.

Determining and Satisfying Search Users Real Needs via Socially Constructed Search Concept Classification 通过社会建构的搜索概念分类确定和满足搜索用户的真实需求

The focus of the research is to disambiguate search query by categorizing search results returned by search engines and interacting with the user to achieve query and results refinement. A novel special search-browser has been developed which combines search engine results, the open directory project (ODP) based lightweight ontology as navigator and classifier, and search results categorizing. Categories are formed based on the ODP as a predefined ontology and Lucene is to be employed to calculate the similarity between retrieved items of the search engine and concepts in the ODP. With the interaction of users, the search-browser improves the quality of search results by excluding the irrelevant documents and ontologically categorizing results for user inspection.

Modeling Semantics of Business Rules 业务规则的建模语义

Organizations are showing growing interest in paradigms where business models and services compatibility is adaptively tested, e.g. by applying automatic systems to check business rules consistency. In this paper, we build on the original proposal by OMG of using first-order logics for representing business vocabularies and propose an approach based on description logics (DL) as formal logic support for business rules. By translating SBVR business vocabularies and rules into OWL DL ontologies, standard inference procedures of DL can be applied to check the business model consistency in the open-world, which is the default interpretation of SBVR models. Moreover, SBVR facts that cannot be expressed with OWL DL are translated into SWRL rules so that they can then be integrated with the starting ontology and evaluated, albeit within the boundaries of the closed-world made of known facts. We exemplify this process by translating a fragment of the EU-Rent example, drawn from the SBVR specification, into a OWL+SWRL knowledge base.

WS-BPEL is for specifying business process behaviour based on Web services. Business processes can be very long and encounter expected or unexpected exceptions. Compensations, or dealing with faults, can be a long, complex and imperfect process. In this paper, the FCT-Handlers of WS-BPEL are analysed to show the features that might be modified to be suitable for the real business processes in 3rd party logistics applications.

SMEs in Developing Countries Face Challenges in Adopting e-commerce Technologies 发展中国家中小企业在采用电子商务技术方面面临挑战

Although research indicates e-commerce offers viable and practical solutions for organizations to meet challenges of a predominantly changing environment, the few available studies related to SMEs in developing countries reveal a delay or failure of SMEs in adopting e-transformation technologies. The various factors identified as causes for the reticence can be broadly classified as Internal Barriers and External Barriers. This paper presents a model for barriers to adoption of ICT and e-commerce and the results of an exploratory pilot study and survey. This research also identifies support required by SMEs in a developing country, Sri Lanka.
