This study explores the role of gender in the networks of co-authorship publications, the impact of articles written by two or more authors, and the influence of high-impact articles on the academic careers. We analyze Peruvian biology researchers with publications in Web of Science Core Collection and SciELO Citation Index, as well as the curricula of the authors of greatest impact publications. A significant imbalance has been found in the number of male and female researchers as well as a significant disproportion of the number of documents published. The co-authorship network formation is not affected by gender, but women have high betweenness levels less frequently, which probably affects their effect on information flow. Finally having published a high impact research is related to promotion for junior researchers,

This paper offers an analysis of the impact of research in communication through a comparative study of citation in main publication formats -books and papersin the areas of journalism, audiovisual communication and advertising. With this aim, the three publications with greatest impact of 281 researchers (199 headlines and 82 professors) from Spanish public universities have been taken as a reference, thus counting 843 papers, that have yielded a total of 72,993 citations, according to Google Scholar. The research concludes that there is and harmonious coexistence of formats in this field, although the books show a longer time course while the journals are clearly chosen by the younger researchers. These conclusions are finally contextualized within the framework of current research policies in Spain.

Open Government initiatives and reuse of public sector information are implemented in most countries. The destination of this data are open data portals, digital repositories that centralize information of public administrations under the premises of open formats and free licenses. In Spain, the development of regional governments open data portals is undisputed, going from 11 open portals with an approximate offer of 5.000 datasets in 2013, to 17 repositories and more than 14.000 datasets in 2019. This study evaluates these regional government open data portals, considering four complementary dimensions: number of datasets, applications developed, based on these datasets, available interaction options and observed functionality in the portal, finding important intra-community differences.

In this paper, the level of development and implementation of mobile applications in Spanish universities is analyzed. First, we propose a categorization and service-oriented classification of the existing apps. Second, an assessment tool was designed. This instrument, called MappUn (Metric for Mobile Apps in Universities), includes functional areas, services and their weighting, with the purpose of assessing both the quantity and type of mobile applications, and detecting the most advanced or laggard areas of development. Finally, am-Learning ranking for Spanish universities was calculated according to the number of the mobile applications provided by them for the different services, allowing for the identification of leaders from which to derive significant experiences, best practices and advice. It was concluded that Spanish universities are still in the initial stages of m-Learning implementation or in a moderate development phase. Due to its simplicity, clarity, rigor and flexibility, this instrument can be applied to different academic contexts.

Scientific studies on Photography are generally published in publications about Communications, Art and History. However, Journals in Documentation Science could be also, hypothetically, a source of information about subject, especially in regard to processing and analysis (conservation, cataloguing, digitalization and circulation). Libraries, archives, museums, foundations, institutes and companies possess important photographic collections that can be reused for a variety of purposes and applications. The aim of this article is to analyze the scientific production on Photography in the main Documentation Journals over the past twenty years (2000-2019), in order to obtain information on authorship, contents and specific subject matters. This research has allowed us to discover that very few studies have been conducted on this subject: 146 articles from 161 authors, belonging to 61 public and private institutions, which analyze contents focusing on sixteen general subjects. The most relevant conclusions are the need for a broader investigation on Photography from the documentary point of view, and for the publishers to pay greater attention to the descriptors or key words in the articles, in order to facilitating and improving the location of the information.

The aim of this study is to analyze the scientific productivity of Higher Education, deepening in the doctoral theses parameters in this field, taking into account bibliometric variables and identifying the topics of the doctoral theses and trends in Higher Education in the attainment of the PhD degree. This study is descriptive longitudinal, retrospective and bibliometric of scientific production in doctoral theses on Higher Education defended in Spanish universities and registered in the TESEO database from its first publication, 1976, to the academic year 2018-2019. The analyzed variables in the study show he differences between men and women in the academic field, especially when holding the position of president of the doctoral thesis court. The results reflect that this field has undergone a process of consolidation with a linear and constant growth in the production of doctoral theses.
