A Simulation Study on Increasing Capture Periods in Bayesian Closed Population Capture-Recapture Models with Heterogeneity 异质性贝叶斯封闭种群捕获-再捕获模型中增加捕获周期的模拟研究

Capture-Recapture models are useful in estimating unknown population sizes. A common modeling challenge for closed population models involves modeling unequal animal catchability in each capture period, referred to as animal heterogeneity. Inference about population size N is dependent on the assumed distribution of animal capture probabilities in the population, and that different models can fit a data set equally well but provide contradictory inferences about N. Three common Bayesian Capture-Recapture heterogeneity models are studied with simulated data to study the prevalence of contradictory inferences is in different population sizes with relatively low capture probabilities, specifically at different numbers of capture periods in the study.

Concomitant of Order Statistics from New Bivariate Gompertz Distribution 新二元Gompertz分布阶统计量的伴随性

For the new bivariate Gompertz distribution, the expression for probability density function (pdf) of rth order statistics and pdf of concomitant arising from rth order statistics are derived. The properties of concomitant arising from the corresponding order statistics are used to derive these results. The exact expression for moment generating function (mgf) of concomitant of order rth statistics is derived. Also, the mean of concomitant arising from rth order statistics is computed using the mgf of concomitant of rth order statistics, and the exact expression for joint density of concomitant of two non-adjacent order statistics are derived.

The purpose of this study is to examine issues involved with choice of a link function in generalized linear models with ordinal outcomes, including distributional appropriateness, link specificity, and palindromic invariance are discussed and an exemplar analysis provided using the Pew Research Center 25th anniversary of the Web Omnibus Survey data. Simulated data are used to compare the relative palindromic invariance of four distinct indices of determination/discrimination, including a newly proposed index by Smith et al. (2017).

A new growth modeling approach is proposed to can fit inherently nonlinear (i.e., logistic) function without constraint nor reparameterization. A simulation study is employed to investigate the feasibility and performance of a Markov chain Monte Carlo method within Bayesian estimation framework to estimate a fully random version of a logistic growth curve model under manipulated conditions such as the number and timing of measurement occasions and sample sizes.

Algebraic expressions for estimating missing data when one or more observation(s) are missing in Rectangular lattice designs with repetition were derived using the method of minimizing the residual sum of squares. Results showed that the estimated value(s) were significantly approximate to that of the actual value(s).

Measure of Departure from Marginal Average Point-Symmetry for Two-Way Contingency Tables 双向列联表偏离边际平均点对称性的测度

For the analysis of two-way contingency tables with ordered categories, Yamamoto, Tahata, Suzuki, and Tomizawa (2011) considered a measure to represent the degree of departure from marginal point-symmetry. The maximum value of the measure cannot distinguish two kinds of marginal complete asymmetry with respect to the midpoint. A measure is proposed which can distinguish two kinds of marginal asymmetry with respect to the midpoint. It also gives large-sample confidence interval for the proposed measure.

Upper Record Values from Extended Exponential Distribution 扩展指数分布的上记录值

Some recurrence relations are established for the single and product moments of upper record values for the extended exponential distribution by Nadarajah and Haghighi (2011) as an alternative to the gamma, Weibull, and the exponentiated exponential distributions. Recurrence relations for negative moments and quotient moments of upper record values are also obtained. Using relations of single moments and product moments, means, variances, and covariances of upper record values from samples of sizes up to 10 are tabulated for various values of the shape parameter and scale parameter. A characterization of this distribution based on conditional moments of record values is presented.

Weighted distributions are used in many fields, such as medicine, ecology, and reliability. A weighted version of the generalized inverse Weibull distribution, known as weighted generalized inverse Weibull distribution (WGIWD), is proposed. Basic properties including mode, moments, moment generating function, skewness, kurtosis, and Shannon’s entropy are studied. The usefulness of the new model was demonstrated by applying it to a real-life data set. The WGIWD fits better than its submodels, such as length biased generalized inverse Weibull (LGIW), generalized inverse Weibull (GIW), inverse Weibull (IW) and inverse exponential (IE) distributions.
