Bandopadhyaya (1980) developed a dual to product estimator using robust modified maximum likelihood estimators (MMLE’s). Their properties were obtained theoretically and supported through simulations studies with generated as well as one real data set. Robustness properties in the presence of outliers and confidence intervals were studied.

A new distribution, the exponentiated transmuted Singh-Maddala distribution (ETSM), is presented, and three important special distributions are illustrated. Some mathematical properties are obtained, and parameters estimation method is applied using maximum likelihood. Illustrations based on random numbers and a real data set are given.

Inference for Step-Stress Partially Accelerated Life Test Model with an Adaptive Type-I Progressively Hybrid Censored Data 具有自适应i型渐进式混合截尾数据的步进-应力部分加速寿命试验模型的推断

Consider estimating data of failure times under step-stress partially accelerated life tests based on adaptive Type-I hybrid censoring. The mathematical model related to the lifetime of the test units is assumed to follow Rayleigh distribution. The point and interval maximum-likelihood estimations are obtained for distribution parameter and tampering coefficient. Also, the work is conducted under a traditional Type-I hybrid censoring plan (scheme). A Monte Carlo simulation algorithm is used to evaluate and compare the performances of the estimators of the tempering coefficient and model parameters under both progressively hybrid censoring plans. The comparison is carried out on the basis of mean squared errors and bias.

This study examined performance of the beta-binomial model in comparison with GEE using clustered binary responses resulting in non-normal outcomes. Monte Carlo simulations were performed under varying intracluster correlations and sample sizes. The results showed that the beta-binomial model performed better for small sample, while GEE performed well under large sample.

Confirmative Evaluation: New CIPP Evaluation Model 验证性评价:新的CIPP评价模型

Struggling trainees often require a substantial investment of time, effort, and resources from medical educators. An emergent challenge involves developing effective ways to accurately identify struggling students and better understand the primary causal factors underlying their poor performance. Identifying the potential reasons for poor performance in medical school is a key first step in developing suitable remediation plans. The SOM Modified Program is a remediation program that aims to ensure academic success for medical students. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of modifying the CIPP evaluation model by adding a confirmative evaluation step to the model. This will be carried out by conducting a program evaluation of Wayne State University’s School of Medicine Modified Program to determine its effectiveness for student success. The key research questions for this study are 1) How effective is the Modified Program for student’s success in the SOM? 2) Do students benefit from a modified program in medical school? 3) Will the CIPP program evaluation model become more effective by adding confirmative evaluation component?

Economic Design of X̅ Control Chart under Double EWMA 双EWMA条件下X控制图的经济性设计

Designing of parameters plays an important role in economic design of control charts for lowering the cost and time. Manipulating sample size (n) and sampling interval (h), the effect of double exponentially weighted moving average (DEWMA) model was studied for the Economic Design (ED) of X̅ control chart. Optimum sizes and level were obtained when the characteristics of an item possesses DEWMA model. When shifts are uncertain the optimal design for DEWMA chart should be more conservative and should be implemented for benefiting the consumers as well as producers.

New variants of entropy as measures of item-fit in item response theory are investigated. Monte Carlo simulation(s) examine aberrant conditions of item-level misfit to evaluate relative (compare EMRj, X2, G2, S-X2, and PV-Q1) and absolute (Type I error and empirical power) performance. EMRj has utility in discovering misfit.

The impact of sparse data conditions was examined among one or more predictor variables in logistic regression and assessed the effectiveness of the Firth (1993) procedure in reducing potential parameter estimation bias. Results indicated sparseness in binary predictors introduces bias that is substantial with small sample sizes, and the Firth procedure can effectively correct this bias.
