Currently, the English language is determined by a high degree of use of abbreviated vocabulary and a developed system of abbreviation models in modern English, including the field of medical texts. Studying the features of the appearance and translation of such abbreviations allows us to determine areas for further improvement of translation practices, in particular in the field of medical subject-matter.

N. N. Boldyrev) which, on the one hand, have characteristics of lexical language categories: in case of prepositions, this is the relationship between reality objects and, on the other hand, have characteristics of grammatical language categories. The study dwells upon one of the fundamental emphases of the cognitive approach to language and its units: the recognition of their semantic motivation through their usage by the following key factors: cognitive and communicative. The analysis of prepositions’ meanings was performed with the method of primary meaning projection defined as prototypical on all the other variants. The study has proved that every semantic variant of the prepositions is the product of conceptual derivation. The primary meaning development proceeds through the mechanism of semantic deri-vation. The primary meaning acquires the status of prototype in every subsequent semantic variant, which ensures explicability of a preposition being used in another function with no exception, including semantic and grammatical features of the relatum and referent.

dars of pregnancy of animals and primitive women are recorded in the drawings and signs of the cave. A successful pregnancy calendar (trapezoid) contains the sign “Y”, which is the sign of birth of a child or cub. An unsuccessful pregnancy calendar (inverted trapezoid) contains the sign “ ⅄ ”– the sign of the death of the fetus or child. The death sign “ ⅄ ” next to the trapezoid means the death of the mother. It has been proven that the drawings and signs of the Kapova cave are drawn in accordance with the three-dimensional perception of space by primitive man. Forward is progress, backward is regression; to the left is progress, to the right is regression; down is progress, up is regression. The results of the study prove the hypothesis existing in Russian science about “prehistoric overhunting” – the extermination of mammoths and woolly rhinoceros by primitive people of the Upper Paleolithic.

The property of emergence is presented as a result of changes in any structural units at different levels of a system. Accordingly, the property of emergence reflects the statics of a system, which depends on even minor changes in the structure of a system at whatever level they occur. The article, based on the material of the Chechen language, in particular, on some changes in the Code of Spelling Rules of the Chechen Language, demonstrates that changing, clarifying some existing rule or introducing a new one leads to the need of making adjustments, radical changes or even exclusion of a number of other rules, which leads to the emergence of new properties of the emergence of the language system as a whole. It is stated that the changes that were made to the spelling rules of the Chechen language had a positive effect in ordering not only the spelling, but also the grammar of the Chechen language, in accordance with the principles and rules dictated by the emergence of the language system as a whole.

A structurally incomplete utterance can be qualified as “non-utterance” (it doesn’t correspond to the system language norms). However, it is a communicatively relevant (or communicatively irrelevant) item of spoken language syntax with its own pragmatic purpose.
