BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES : Osteoarthritis affects many individuals worldwide and is caused by multiple factors that lead to joint wear and tear, inflammation and, consequently, chronic pain that is difficult to treat. It is predominant in seniors, but not restricted to older age groups. Pain reduction is prioritized when facing crises, so that rehabilitation work and postural corrections can be applied later. The present study aimed to evaluate the analgesic potential of tapentadol extended-release (ER) in three patients with osteoarthritis who had undergone numerous previous treatments and had a history of moderate to severe chronic pain.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES : With the necessity to assess musculoskeletal complaints caused by computer use, The Maastricht Upper Extremity Questionnaire (MUEQ) was created, which aims to assess musculoskeletal complaints of the upper limbs, shoulder complex and cervical spine in computer users. However, there is currently no comprehensive summary in the scientific literature on the psychometric properties of the MUEQ. The objective of this study was to conduct a synthesis of all available scientific evidence that has analyzed the psychometric properties of the MUEQ.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES : Shoulder painful dysfunctions comprises one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders that requires specialized assistance. Dry Nee-dling (DN) became an adjuvant approach with increased use in clinical practice to treat this type of condition. The present study discusses the literature related to DN in the treatment of myofascial trigger points (MTPs), shoulder dysfunctions and associated pain. METHODS : A narrative review through search of articles from 2010 to 2022 written in Portuguese, English or Spanish was performed in Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Health Information from the National Li-brary of Medicine (Medline), Web of Science and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) databases using the keywords: <“Dry Needling”>; <“ Agulhamento a Seco ”>; <“Myofascial Trigger Points”>; <“ Pontos-Gatilhos Miofasciais ”>; <“Shoulder Dysfunctions”>; <” Disfunções do ombro ”>. The qualitative analysis was performed determining the level of evidence for DN treatment of MTPs, shoulder dysfunctions and pain.

HIGHLIGHTS People who were more resilient had less pain. Less resilient patients had more painful joints. Resilience can help the clinical outcome of the disease. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory, chronic and autoimmune disease that causes joint damage and can lead to physical disability. Patients with chronic and debilitating diseases such as arthritis need to adapt to the new reality. These changes may have less impact on patients with greater self-efficacy and resilience. Psychosocial factors influence the quality of life (QoL) of these patients, so the aim of this study was to assess resilience in this population and its relationship with pain, functional capacity and disease activity. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study carried out with patients at a medical specialties clinic, using a sociodemographic, a clinical-laboratory, a health assessment, a disease activity score questionnaires and the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale. The data was analyzed using Fisher’s Exact, Chi-square, Student’s t and ANOVA tests. RESULTS: 120 patients participated in the study, 89.2% female, mean age 56.9 ± 10.7 years. Pain was classified as severe by 40.8%, 65.8% had disease in remission and 50.8% had mild disability. The resilience of 49.2% was high. There was an association between lower resilience and: presence of painful joints (p=0.004) and greater pain intensity (p=0.014). There was a lower average of resilience (130.95) in participants with severe disability. CONCLUSION: Patients with less resilient rheumatoid arthritis had greater functional disability, painful joints and greater pain intensity. In addition, from the moment additional measures are adopted, such as educational actions and behavioral strategies, with an emphasis on resilience, which help in the control and clinical outcome of the disease, there will certainly be a positive impact on the quality of life of these patients.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES : Chronic Pelvic Pain (CPP) is characterized by persistent pain in the pelvic region for more than six months, affecting both men and women and causing significant impairment in quality of life (QoL). Two of the main non-invasive approaches are Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS). These techniques aim to modulate neural activity and promote pain relief. In this context, this research conducted an integrative literature review to summarize the results of relevant studies, aiming to identify the key parameters used in TMS and tDCS for CPP treatment. The objective was to assess the effect and efficacy of non-invasive neuro-modulation as a therapeutic intervention for CPP. CONTENTS : For this integrative review, electronic searches were conducted in Pubmed, Scielo, PEDro, Medline, Cochrane, and Scopus databases, examining studies in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. The keywords “pelvic pain,” “transcranial direct current stimulation,” and “transcranial magnetic stimulation” and their derivatives were searched in the three languages in studies from 2013 to 2023. Seven studies were included for analysis. Both techniques showed positive effects in managing CPP, im-Parameters
