In the recent past, vehicular adhoc networks (VANETs) have gained a lot of importance. The routing protocols play a vital role to deliver payloads from one vehicle to another one while they are moving at relative speeds. It is a challenging task to select a routing protocol for VANETs because of the uneven distribution and high mobility of vehicles. In this paper, we have analysed the two standard reactive protocols, adhoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) and ant colony optimization (ACO). The performance comparison of AODV and ACO routing protocols has been presented in this paper. The results show AODV performed better in terms of energy consumption and routing overhead. While considering the throughput, energy loss ratio, and delay ACO has performed. ACO resulted as upperhand.

This research work introduces a power management system for a hybrid energy storage system (PMHESS) configuration for urban electric vehicles utilizing a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). Consequently, the configuration includes two DC/DC interleaved converters that establish a connection between the battery and ultra-capacitors (UCs), thereby ensuring a substantial power capacity. The FLC is adaptable and sturdy, considering information from sources other than the vehicle, such as other vehicles or road infrastructure. The study explores incorporating road topography into the control structure to improve hybrid storage performance. Simulation results show that combining lithium batteries with UCs improves the energy source’s performance and reliability. The power management algorithm reduces sudden demands on the battery by considering the slope of the ground. The work proposes energy storage integration for electric vehicles, exploring its benefits through simulations. Overall, the proposed hybrid energy storage system (HESS) demonstrates high efficiency and power for urban electric vehicles. The results are validated using MATLAB/Simulink.

The microstrip antennas matured and improved over the last 25 years. Throughout these years, the limitations, and specifications of the said antennas have been overcome and significantly improved. Known to be lowprofile, suitable for mobile, and lightweight, these microstrip antennas are the focus of this research. In this paper, the researchers designed a microstrip antenna with varying lengths and substrates. They tested the changes and the effects in microstrip antennas of different lengths, along with altering substrates. To verify the differences, the researchers compared the performance parameters maximum gain (dBi), minimum gain (dBi), and S11 graph on each tested length and changed substrate. The rough set theory was used to determine the optimal design via MATLAB. From there, the researchers analyzed the results gathered and drew their respective conclusions. Additionally, they saw and compared each data result to know what antenna has the best performance parameters. From the results, a change in the dimension will result in a decrease in the said performance parameters. Furthermore, the change in substrate thickness also diminishes these changes.

A novel AC-DC quadratic boost converter (QBC) topology is presented in this paper which can provide higher power factor (PF), lower total harmonic distortion (THD) and higher voltage when compared to a conventional AC-DC boost convertero This is achieved by using additional switched capacitor and switched inductor in the power processing stage. The presented converter is analyzed theoretically, and a voltage gain equation is derived. A simulation model is created to evaluate the converter performance under various duty cycles, switching frequency, and changing output load. The input PF, THD, and voltage gain of the simulated model were compared with conventional converter to determine the validity of the suggested converter circuit. The results show that the efficiency, PF, THD and voltage gain value reaches approximately 97.9%, 0.98, 16.14, and 2.83 respectively at a duty cycle of 50% with fixed output load of 100 Ω. A dual loop voltage and current controller is also arrayed with the proposed circuit which allows further enhancement in PF (0.997) and THD (7.45%). This converter can be a suitable option for systems where isolation is not necessary but high PF, high voltage gain and low THD are required.

In this paper, we consider effective performance transmission under generalized α − κ − µ the fading distribution. The source-user links are assumed to be non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) channels through a downlink power do-main. Two users are selected to service in a situation with perfect channel state information (CSI) in accordance with the NOMA protocol. The closed-form ex-pressions of outage probability (OP) and bit error rate (BER) are derived with the effect of power allocation coefficient, target rate, and channel fading param-eters. In addition, we calculate numerical results to demonstrate the asymptotic expansion in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) analysis. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations are provided to validate and assess the accuracy of the analytical framework proposed.

This paper presents two image encryption methods which aim to improve the CAST 128-bit algorithm by increasing the security level of encrypted images. The first improvement uses a magic square of order three, while the second improvement uses a 2×2 matrix over GF(P). Both modifications are used in each round of the CAST algorithm, in place of a standard algorithm which uses XOR to increase the correlation between the plaintext and ciphertext. Simulations are carried out in order to evaluate the image encryption system with regard to complexity, time consumption, histogram, information entropy, differential attacks, noise evaluation, adjacent pixels’ correlation index, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) analyses, mean absolute error, and average difference. The experimental results demonstrate that the encryption and decryption time when using the proposed CAST 128-bit algorithm with magic square is less than the time required for the CAST 128-bit algorithm with the matrix. Conversely, the proposed CAST with the matrix is higher than the CAST with the magic square. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results confirm that the two proposed enhancements to CAST perform effectively with sufficient security levels.

This study measures the similarity of the short tandem repeat (STR) profile of human DNA. The similarity measurement had been done to the STR value of the allele loci in DNA profile between the query’s DNA to the reference’s DNA profile. The measurements were conducted on 27 DNA profile loci including the Y chromosome loci (YSTR). The YSTR loci were used as the main comparison of similarity measurements to determine the biological kinship relationship between the query DNA profile and the alleged male biological family. To measure the similarity of two STR values that have shifted due to several factors in the DNA source extraction process, a fuzzy similarity measure was used. The STR values of the DNA profile loci are described as triangular fuzzy numbers. Similarity value of the STR is the intersection of two isosecle that been compared. To conclude that the query has a biological relationship with the male reference, the similarity of the YSTR locus is equal or more than 0.75 and the similarity value of the other 24 DNA profile loci is greater or equal to 0.5. From the trial that have been done, 90% give the right results.

The government requires some vaccination for public health. This has led to a debate in recent years, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research aims to analyze the two sentiments of the public regarding the vaccination policy. This would be helpful to ensure the acceptance of the government campaign about vaccination. The data used was text data obtained from Twitter when Indonesia was facing the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The data were pre-processed by removing noise data, case folding, stemming, and tokenizing. Then, the data were classified with random forest, Naïve Bayes, and XGBoost. The results showed that all classifiers exhibit satisfying performance but XGBoost performs slightly better in accuracy value. This method can be deployed to be an automatic sentiment analyzer to help the government understand public feedback about its policies. This would be given by proper pre-processing and enough datasets.

This study investigates challenges and opportunities in adopting free and open-source software (FOSS) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Monteria, Colombia. The research reveals that around 77.5% of SMEs prefer free software, yet surprisingly, 80% are unaware of the benefits of open-source licenses, with nearly 45% not adopting them due to lack of knowledge. Implementing FOSS in SMEs offers legal and economic advantages, including reduced software acquisition costs, compliance with data protection and privacy regulations, and fostering innovation. However, adoption barriers persist, necessitating further research for enhancing implementation in Colombian SMEs. Notably, Colombia's ethical framework for AI serves as a guide for ethical AI and open-source software deployment, aligned with sustainable development goals. This study highlights free software usage prevalence in Monteria's SMEs and critical factors hindering full adoption. Addressing challenges and leveraging potential benefits can improve efficiency, regulatory compliance, and contribute to sustainable development. Continued research in this field can promote broader and stronger implementation of FOSS in Colombian SMEs.

High voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission is flexible towards the power control (produced by solar or wind) and can be transported over thousands of kilo meters with minimal losses over the high voltage alternative current (HVAC). It allows solar power to be integrated into the current power grid on a large scale. The author view in this article aims at providing an overview of methods used to integrate HVDC and solar systems. MATLAB/Simulink is used to simulate the solar power integration with HVDC transmission link. This article emphaises solar energy and grid integration, which results in quality and controlled electricity to the grid. Further the simulation studies are compared with real time data between the stations Pugalur AC grid (high solar energy region) and Thrissur AC grid (low solar energy region). Obtained results from the simulation, voltage and currents and power quality stresses the superiority towards the solar integration. The comparison studies enumerate the need to go situation for HVDC technology during the penetration of solar voltaic penetration into the utility network.
