This paper obtains semi-analytical solutions for the nonlinear Schrodinger equations (NLSEs) using the multistep reduced differential transform method (MsRDTM). The implemented method yields an analytical approximate solution over a longer time frame, in which the method applied is treated as an algorithm in a sequence of small sub-division of intervals of identical length compared to the traditional reduced differential transform method (RDTM). Excluding the need of perturbation, linearization, or discretization, this method offers the benefit and reliability of the multistep algorithm. The outcomes show that the MsRDTM generated highly accurate solutions of NLSEs than the RDTM. In addition, the results show that the suggested method is straightforward to use, saves a significant amount of computing work when solving NLSEs, and has potential for broad application in other complex partial differential equations (PDEs) in the fields of engineering and science. The accuracy of the method is shown through the tables and graphical illustrations provided.

Smoothing is a method of data analysis that aims to provide well-defined patterns or signals by removing noise or unstructured patterns from data sets. To obtain clean and smooth data, Hanning is applied as one of the important components in smoothing. However, Hanning is not resistant to outliers. Therefore, this study aims to determine the best type of Hanning that is able to obtain the greatest performance of 4253HT smoother in signal recovery. Functions of Linear, Complex Sinusoidal, Custom Pulse Train, and Sawtooth signals corrupted with five levels of contaminated normal noise were used as signals in the smoothing process. All signals were applied to assess three different Hanning types, which were Tukey, Husain and Shitan. Besides, a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) was used as an evaluator to determine and assess the performance of 4253HT smoother when utilizing an alternative Hanning. Based on the overall performance of 4253HT smoother, Husain Hanning presented the best outcome and worked most efficiently at all levels of noise except at the lowest noise (10%), which Tukey Hanning executed better. The findings of this study could benefit other researchers to decide the best Hanning to be used before performing forecasting and further analysis to improve the accuracy of predicting.

This research investigates the changes in sedimentary load along the Pantai Punggur to Pantai Perpat coastline in Batu Pahat, Johor, particularly during the northeast monsoon period from October 2022 to February 2023. The study aims to produce a mapping diagram of the shoreline profile and volume changes across various locations and their association with monsoon changes. The research utilised aerial images captured by UAVs, which were analysed using Pix4D and Global Mapper software. Data was collected for six months from September 2022 to February 2023, with the observation period experiencing a high tide phenomenon on November 24, 2022, resulting in a significant change in the data for that month. Shoreline profile results did not establish a conclusive link between sediment load changes and erosion or accretion due to the lack of volumetric data. Consequently, an analysis of volume changes was conducted using the Global Mapper application. In conclusion, the northeast monsoon wind and high tide phenomena during November 2022 significantly impacted the shoreline profile and total volume of the Pantai Perpat and Pantai Punggur areas.

This paper examines the structural changes of the companies listed in the technology sector in Bursa Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The closing price of each stock is used as the basis for calculating the cross-correlation between the companies' returns. Minimum spanning trees are employed to analyse the relationships and visualize the correlation changes for each period. Additionally, degree centrality is utilized to analyse the network's structure further. This study covers the period from 2020 to 2021 and involves 39 companies within the technology sector. The findings reveal significant fluctuations in the companies' correlations each year. Moreover, the most influential companies vary according to the period, demonstrating position changes. The fact that Inari Amertron (INAR), Revenue Group (REVE), and My EG Services (MYEG) consistently become leading players in different years shows how strong and influential they are in the technology sector. This suggests that these companies have the ability to shape market trends and possibly even control the direction of the industry. The results provide valuable insights for investors and policymakers, aiding in visualizing company relationships and facilitating strategic portfolio optimization.

The Industrialised Building System (IBS) has been adopted in the Malaysian construction sector to replace the conventional building approach. Despite the government's attempts to encourage IBS adoption, the use of IBS in Malaysian building projects remains low. This study aims to gather stakeholders' views on drivers, barriers, and strategies to improve IBS implementation in Malaysia. About 52 questionnaires were received from IBS stakeholders in Johor such as consulting firms, contractors and IBS manufacturers. Average Index Analysis was used to analyse the questionnaire data on the main factors: current drivers, factors when considering IBS construction, current barriers and strategies to increase IBS construction. From the questionnaire survey, among the main drivers of IBS construction in Malaysia are technology advancement, reduce completion time and improve quality and productivity. Stakeholders also perceived that supervision on continuous and regular improvements and IBS implementation needs planning for productive process among the main factors when considering IBS construction. Meanwhile, the main barriers for IBS construction perceived are high initial cost investment in projects related to IBS construction, lack of skilled workers and unable to adapt instant changes to design modification in IBS construction. Several main strategies were noted to enhance the IBS implementation such as improving the balance between supply and market demand, innovation in creating eco-friendly sustainable construction and factory production optimization for IBS items. The outcomes of the study could assist relevant parties to understand the current drivers and barriers of IBS construction, and further help them to enhance the IBS implementation in Malaysia.

Electronic technology makes work more manageable, and various electronic gadgets have been invented to assist humans. One of the most time-consuming activities is household chores, such as laundry. Daily laundry tasks are easier to manage with the help of washing and drying machines. However, the folding task is still done by hand and is not automated. A towel is one of the main clothes in daily life. Commonly, people use bare hands to fold the towel. However, this task consumes much time and energy; consequently, boredom, tiredness, and fatigue occur. The existing device to fold towels usually has a large physical compartment and is mainly used for industrial purposes, such as at hotels or laundry shops. The towel-folding machine is in increasing demand in our daily lives. Therefore, this project was developed and designed to eliminate the tedious folding of towels. The main aim is to design and develop an effective mechanism for folding rectangular towels using electronic components. The other objective is to compare the timing of folding rectangular towels using a simple device and by hand. As a result, the prototype represented a semi-automation system incorporating mechanical and electronic designs. The prototype assembly has a folding board made from polypropylene plastic. The amount of time to fold one towel using a semi-automatic folding board remains the same throughout the process, while the amount of time required to fold towels by hand increases. In conclusion, a prototype was designed and developed successfully with various electronic components: HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, MG996R servomotor and Arduino. Besides, by comparing the timing of folding rectangular towels using a simple device and by hand, 94 seconds was reduced when folding 50 sheets with the aid of the device, compared to by hand. In other words, the effectiveness of the device is 20%.

Basketball players normally use jump shots to score points during a game. The player must shoot the ball depending on their own experience that requires a long period of time to train. The player can learn faster and master the shooting skills with the assistance of video and data analysis. This paper determines the scoring effectiveness, the body posture and release angle of normal and fade–away jump shots in basketball using the biomechanics analysis. Recording devices were used to record the jump shots and the results were analysed by using several software including Wondershare Filmora, KMPlayer, Openpose, MATLAB, and Logger Pro. With the aid of biomechanics formula, MATLAB and Logger Pro software, the shooting angle, acceleration, energy, force, etc data were obtained. Results showed that the average angle of release that scored for both normal and fade-away jump shots were 59.4 and 59.5 degrees respectively. Normal jump shots had been concluded as more efficient due to 15 % higher scoring than the fade-away jump shots while they required 9.5 % less power to perform. Therefore, it was found that the improvement to the Openpose software can benefit many people. In potential future application, instead of detecting human posture, detecting objects might be a breakthrough for future application around the world.

In potential future application, instead of detecting human posture, detecting objects might be a breakthrough for future application around the world.","PeriodicalId":506443,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Research in Applied Sciences and Engineering Technology","volume":"114 s432","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141002753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
The main focus in this study is to enhance and classify the image of a type of filamentous fungi named Penicillium and Aspergillus. For image enhancement, fuzzy-partition gamma adaptive histogram equalization (FpGAHE) is proposed to improve the quality of an image, in particular the low quality of a microscopic image. Two stages have been considered in this technique. In the first stage, a fuzzy partition is developed to handle the inconsistency of the grey level values of the images by introducing a fuzzy set. In the second stage, surrounding neighbourhood is employed to avoid the imbalance data and reduce the drastically changes of brightness values of the image. The performances are evaluated into two parts i.e., image processing and image classification by using the collected microscopic images of fungi species. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique, the existing techniques, HE, AHE, CLAHE, GC and AGC is compared to the FpGAHE. In image processing, the result attained shows that the proposed technique has a better performance by obtaining the highest value for the PSNR, SSIM and FSIM evaluation for the species of A. terreus in clean condition. Meanwhile, in image classification, five different nearest neighbour classifiers have been tested. The results show the proposed FpGAHE with Improved Fuzzy-Based k Nearest Centroid Neighbour (IFkNCN) classifier perform the best result compare to other nearest neighbour classifier by obtaining the value of 92.59 and 93.95 for the salt and pepper and Gaussian noise corrupted images respectively.

Traditional simple machine topic is frequently theoretical and does not provide enough hands-on practise. Students may as a result fail to comprehend the fundamentals of simple machines and their applications. This research presents an innovative educational kit for simple machine learning. Students can utilize this kit to understand the fundamental concepts behind simple machines like levers, gears, and pulleys. This study investigates the creation of a simple machine kit using CAD software as a teaching tool for fundamental mechanics. A survey study is employed as part of this technique in order to ascertain audience needs and expectations. Beginning with idea generation and followed by rigorous evaluation, the process of developing the kit focuses on aligning pedagogical viability, marketability, and profitability. The selected concept is then transformed into a detailed technical drawing specifying dimensions, components, and assembly instructions, ensuring coherence between educational goals and machine learning integration. Iterative prototyping and testing further refine the kit's design, ensuring seamless interaction between machine learning elements and LEGO-based components. This approach culminates in an innovative educational kit that effectively imparts foundational machine learning principles through an engaging platform. The simple machine kit made through this research can then be utilized as an educational tool in primary, secondary, or higher education environments to facilitate students' grasp of basic mechanics. Students learning product design may find this novel approach both enjoyable and useful in their studies.
