Understanding parents’ satisfaction with quality is necessary for offering services that better meet the needs of children and families. However, there is a paucity of such research in Guyana. Through a descriptive survey, 51 parents provided insights to guide decisions about service at the University of Guyana Early Childhood Centre of Excellence. Five areas of service quality identified by the Caribbean Community policy-making body on effective early childhood settings were examined: programme participation, staff engagement, management and administration, parent/family partnership, and health and safety. Over 90% of the responses about the quality of service were positive, indicative of influence by the detailed self-administered questionnaire. Negative responses, especially by parents of the youngest groups of children, suggest there are elements of services that are not adequately met, acceptable, or sufficiently visible to some parents. Being the first research of this kind in Guyana, early childhood service providers, and other stakeholders might find the parents’ recognition and interpretation of quality informative and a reference point for considering critical issues concerning quality provision for young children.

Nothing But Publishing: The Effect of Paid Service in Academic Publishing for Graduates With Weak Academic Ability

Paid services in academic publishing provide easy access to those graduates with weak academic ability. This essay aims at investigating the underlying causes of paid services in academic publishing and their effects. The main data were obtained from semi-structured interviews and were quantitative analysed. A group of 76 graduates who were believed to ne of weak academic ability were invited to the interview. The results show that graduates benefit from paid services, making graduation, promotion and further education possible. Because core journals cannot accept their low-quality essays, they have to ask help from literary agents at a high cost which is the result of lacking regulations on illegal ways of charging. A published paper was all that graduates needed to succeed and such an irrational requirement expedited the wild development of irresponsible literary agents. Marketisation of academic journals adds false value to the graduates. The university should review its assessment system and reduce paid services in academic publishing at the root.

In recent years, there has been a promotion and emphasis on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The integration of interdisciplinary concepts and applications in English classrooms has brought new value and significance to English teaching. This study aims to investigate the students’ perceptions by STEAM-Integrated CLIL instruction into English Classroom, a Halloween Jack-O-Lantern as an example. The participations were eight freshman students from different department in a university in central of Taiwan. Through a survey, the research aims to analyze different aspects of STEAM and assess the effectiveness of English learning outcomes. The results indicated that the students were satisfied with the application of STEAM education in CLIL instruction in English classroom.

This study aimed to investigate an approach for assessing the quality of doctoral dissertations, specifically focusing on the consistency between essential elements, namely the literature review and quantitative analysis results. To accomplish this, a mixed-methods design was employed. The qualitative data were analyzed using semantic network and thematic analysis techniques, while the quantitative data were processed using SPSS procedures. The study's findings demonstrated that this mixed-methods model effectively facilitates the examination of dissertation quality and consistency among key elements, such as the literature review and data analysis results. By integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches, researchers gain a comprehensive understanding of the dissertation's quality and the alignment between its different components.

Analyzing Cooperative Learning Thematically: An Exploratory Case Study With a Composite Qualitative Model

This study explores how educators implement Cooperative Learning (CL) in their teaching methods through an exploratory case study using Saldana's model (2016) as the initial coding framework. Thematic coding, guided by Segev's semantic analysis techniques (2022), uncovered diverse perspectives among participants, highlighting various themes supporting CL models. Nevertheless, a consistent theme that emerged was the central concept of CL within the semantic analysis graph. The amalgamation of semantic analysis and thematic coding combined open and theoretical coding for a comprehensive understanding of the data. Furthermore, the incorporation of semantic discourse evidence strengthened the analysis, resulting in a theoretical representation of CL.
