Objectives: To investigate macular and peripapillary vascular density (VD) in patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) compared to healthy controls. Methods:Whole face scans of the superficial and deep macular layers and whole face and peripapillary scans of the radial peripapillary capillaries (RPC) were obtained using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA, AngioVueR, Optovue) in ten patients with AN and ten age-matched controls. The primary objective was to determine whether there was a difference between the vessel density (VD) in the above areas in AN and controls. P-values ≤ 0.0125 were considered statistically significant. Results: VD in the superficialmacular en-face OCTA image was significantly lower in the study group compared to the control group. Neither the deepmacula nor the radial peripapillary capillary (RPC) in the whole-face image nor the RPC-peripapillary imaging appeared to be significantly different. Conclusion: Patients with AN showed reduced VD in the superficialmacular layers compared to healthy controls, which can be discussed as a consequence of the malnutrition. OCTA could be a useful non- invasive tool to detect reduced peripheral blood supply to show vascular changes that occur before ocular symptoms.

On the clinical significance of reduced executive functions in elderly patients with mental illnesses Research question: Executive functions (EF) show increasing deficits in old age. There are also numerous studies demonstrating the importance of EF in relation to depression, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder in older patients.
Methods: The study presented examined this question in a sample of patients in a psychosomatic clinic who were in middle (< 60years) and older age (≥ 60years) (N = 150) and compared them with a psychologically non-stressed comparison sample (N = 157).The survey instrument used to assess EF was the Trail-Making Test (TMT).
Results: The results show age and setting differences, i. e. older as well as mentally ill subjects showed worse results; an interaction effect was also found. Associations of symptoms and EF were found only in the elderly sample, but not in the middle-aged sample.
Conclusions: The results show that the importance of impaired executive functions is a clinically relevant variable in psychotherapy of the elderly.

Primaryemotions and attachment in mental disorder Objectives: There is increasing evidence for associations between primary emotions and attachment with mental illness. This study illuminates the mediation relationship of these psychodynamic constructs in relation to psychiatric disorders.
Methods: 921 subjects (69.9 % female) were examined, who completed the questionnaires Brief Affective Neuroscience Personality Scales including a LUST Scale, Experiences in Close Relationships - Revised 8, and ICD-10 Symptom Rating online. A path analysis was conducted to evaluate the mediation effects of attachment anxiety.
Results: A disease-specific pattern of direct associations between primary emotions, attachment anxiety, and psychological impairment emerged (all p < .01). Attachment exerted mediating effects primarily for SADNESS (p < .01), and to a lesser extent for LUST and CARE (p > .01).The model provided variance resolution ranging from7%(eating disorders) to 47%(depression).
Conclusion: The results demonstrate the relevance of affective explanations regarding the development of psychological symptoms, as well as therapeutic implications.

Objective: Controversy exists about the comparative efficacy of different group formats, e. g., open versus closed. Most of the findings come from outpatient, closed group research. In practice, the open format is more widely used. This monocentric study aims to compare the efficacy as well as group cohesion during inpatient group psychotherapy for depression delivered in an open versus closed format.
Methods: 291 depressed inpatients (ageM= 55.7, SD = 11) of a psychosomatic-rehabilitation clinic were consecutively assigned to either open (n = 117) or closed (n = 174) cognitive-behavioral groups, further subdivided into groups based on length of the stay. Using multilevel models, we examined depression and group cohesion concerning changes in patients' random effects over time.
Results: Both group formats showed a reduction in symptomatology (d = 1.8). A significant group format x time interaction in favor of the closed format was found regarding group cohesion.
Conclusion: While group cohesion improved in the closed format only, we did not find any significant difference between group formats regarding their efficacy. Further research should focus on randomized controlled trials comparing both formats directly.

The Relation between the OPD-2 Axis Structure and the Static/Dynamic Risk for Committing Child Sexual Abuse in a Sample of 30 Men with Sexual Interest in Minors from the Dark Field - A Pilot Study Objectives: The present pilot study examined the relation between the OPD-2 axis structure of 30 men with a sexual interest in minors from the dark field and their static and dynamic risk factors for committing child sexual abuse.
Methods: Two independent raters estimated the structural dimensions based on notes from outpatient psychotherapy sessions using the OPD-2 structure checklist. The interrater reliability of the structural data was moderate. Pearson/Spearman correlations between these structural data and the previously assessed static and dynamic risk were calculated.
Results: Attachment was the only structural dimension to correlate significantly positively moderately with the dynamic risk. The less integrated the structural dimension of attachment was, the more pronounced the dynamic risk was.
Conclusions: The correlation between the structural dimension of attachment and the dynamic riskmay provide first indications of the potential of structure-oriented psychotherapeutic interventions formodifying dynamic risk in individuals with a sexual interest in minors from the dark field. The limitations of the methodological approach constrain the significance of the findings, prompting further research on the relation between structure and risk.

Does the therapeutic style differ in age-homogeneous and age-heterogeneous therapeutic dyads?
Background and aims: Differences between age-homogeneous and age-heterogeneous therapeutic dyads have rarely been the subject of research. The present study aimed to investigate differences in therapeutic style (Healing and Stressful Involvement).
Method: A sample of 527 questionnaires completed by therapists of different ages was available. Therapy style was compared between two patient groups (under 40 and over 65 years old) and three therapist groups (25-39, 40-59, ≥ 60).
Results: The results show in particular more stress experienced by younger therapists in the treatment of older patients, while older therapists report less stress. There were no or fewer differences in the treatment of younger patients. The regression-analytical results show that the experience of stress in the therapy of older people is associated with a greater fear of old age.
Conclusion: Finally, some conclusions are discussed with regard to training and supervision of therapists in the treatment of older people.
