The article describes the theoretical and experimental studies into the rolling resistance coefficient of rollers of belt conveyors in mines. The experimental testing based on the theory of similarity and dimensions has produced the relationships of the rolling resistance coefficient, the main structural parameters of bearings and the service properties of plastic lubricants at dynamically varied temperature and different belt speeds and roller loads. The reduction in the rolling resistance force applied to the rollers at the adjusted rolling resistance coefficient makes it possible to increase the operating energy efficiency of belt conveyors in mines due to the rational use of modern plastic lubricants.

The adversities of geology and permafrost hydrogeology in operating roadways under conditions of increasing depth of mining in the Kupol deposit are formulated. It is emphasized that safety of mining will depend on endogenous and exogenous processes. The article presents the systematization of geological processes by the criterion of their hazard for two zones of the Kupol deposit: the upper zone of permafrost rocks and the lower zone of thawed rocks. The importance of taking into account the biocorrosion processes induced by the activity of various microorganisms—cryophiles, mesophilic micromycetes tolerant to low temperatures and some anaerobic bacteria—is for the first time highlighted. The geological processes systematization for the Kupol deposit has been accomplished for the first time ever.

The article analyzes the development and evolution of the structural and geodynamic systems of the sedimentary complex in the Caspian region, and the results of structural and tectonic modeling of individual tectonic zones in the region. Based on the modeling results, an important feature of the morphology and structure of the basement surface and sedimentary complex in the Caspian Sea is the tracked sea extension of many elements detected on land. The main features of the morphology and structure of the basement surface and sedimentary complex in the Caspian region are the presence of superdeep depressions of the earth’s crust, with the basement depth up to 16 km or more in the North Caspian and up to 20–24 km in the South Caspian, as well as the distinct longitudinal (sublatitudinal) tectonic zonality of the region. Constructed as a result of the implemented reconstructions, the gener alized geological and tectonic model of the uneven-aged basement surface comprises the sea and continental parts of the region under study. article reports the integrated analysis of the history, geodynamics, modern faulting system, internal structure and spatial occurrence of Paleozoic and Paleogene (Eocene) accumulations of oil in the promising Chezhen block of the Chezhen sag of the Jiyang depression in the Bohai Bay Basin in East China. After review of the new geological, geophysical and field studies, the authors find out that in this structurally complex system of faults and fractures of different age, orientation and types, the present-day spatial occurrence of oil reservoirs is governed by the neofaults which blanket the whole geological section, including the Paleozoic period. The studies (analysis of polished sections) into internal structure (micro fracturing) and oil saturation of rocks produce some new data of interest for the theory and practice. The studies of samples from the reservoir and non-reservoir rocks in exploration drilling in the Shahejie pay horizon show that oil saturation is connected with the presence of the younger age system of micro fractures (permeable) of horizontal and vertical (faults) orientation. The further exploration in the promising Chezhen block of the Shenli oil field is recom-mended to continue in the zones of the Cenozoic faults as any rocks (irrespective of their lithology, including low-porosity rocks) can be saturated with oil in these zones which con-tain the best-type reservoirs (fractured) and feature active fluid neodynamics.

Dialectical contradictions generating problems in performance of coal mines are the strategic landmarks in the creative research and innovation activity of mining engineers. Striving for success involves resolving of dialectical contradictions in the development and implementation of innovation intelligence potential in mining engineers as a governing factor of innovation fruitfulness. The dialectical contradictions in the development and implementation of innovation intelligence potential at the stage of innovation creation are discussed. At this stage, it is required to resolve contradictions in thinking of a mining engineer. A breakthrough arises from breaking stereotype vision and from pushing and overshooting the limits of the prevailing way of thinking. The procedure is developed for the need–can contradiction resolution and creativity intelligence buildup in an engineer to form the innovation potential which is a way toward the breakthrough thinking and original decision-making. The contents and nature of contradictions at the stage of innovation implementation origi-nate from the specific performance of an engineer, and from such intelligence properties as vision, power and will. The approaches and means used by the outstanding Soviet mining engi-neers–innovators to overcome contradictions and implement inventions are described. In the present-day conditions of the Russian coal mining industry, the fruitful integration of innovation and promotion skills can form an exclusive innovation intelligence potential in a mining engineer, which is of specific value for both the person and mining company.
