O ver the last decade, a vast improvement on intraocular lens (IOL) options steered cataract surgery towards a more sophisticated approach concerning the final refractive goal. On a particular note, the availability and adoption of toric IOLs, either in monofocal or multifocal platforms. This allowed for a better final quality of vision, but also addressed several complex steps, especially regarding proper diagnostic assessment during surgical planning. More than 50% of the patients who undergo cataract surgery have corneal astigmatism ≥ 0.75 diopter (D), which is within the range of surgically treatable astigmatism and may significantly limit an optimal visual outcome if left uncorrected.

The purpose of this study was to report the ocular findings in an unusual case of ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasia-clefting (EEC) syndrome and review the etiology and clinical presentation of similar cases in the literature. Thys study is an observational case report of a 13-year-old woman with complaints of epiphora and red eye. On examination she presented with lacrimal punctal agenesis and neovascularization in both eyes. She was treated medically and without any surgical intervention. Corneal changes in EEC can have variable presentation. The etiology of such keratopathy seems to be due to several factors and limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) being the most recent factor involved. Recurrent infection from lacrimal drainage obstruction and tear film instability are other risk factors for disease severity and progression. Since these patients present several anomalies, it is important, to follow an interdisciplinary approach to reduce complications and provide the best possible medical care.

Lymphomas are the most common primary orbital tumour in adults 60 years of age and older. We present a case of a 79-year-old woman complaining of red eye, tearing and diplopia. She had history of a thyroid nodule with normal thyroid function, uncontrolled hypertension and impaired fasting glucose. The Weiss coordimeter showed right eye lateral rectus palsy. Right 6 th nerve palsy due to microvascular disease was assumed. At the follow-up visit performed six weeks later, there was a constant esodeviation of the right eye with proptosis and a temporal mass on the right ocular globe. The biopsy was diagnostic of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The differential diagnosis of orbital masses is complex. Initial manifestations are non-specific and clinical suspicion of an orbital mass may not arise until considerable growth of the lesion. The relevance of this case is its initial presentation with rapid evolution and the fact that the patient had thyroid disease.

Purpose: Describe a Case Report. Introduction: Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is a rare endocrine emergency, which can occur due to acute hemorrhage or infarction of pituitary gland, usually in the context of a pituitary macroadenoma. 1 The most frequent ophthalmologic symptoms/sings are impaired visual acuity, visual field defects and diplopia. 2,3 A dense bitemporal hemianopic scotoma can cause a rare nonparetic diplopia, so-called hemifield slide phenomenon. Results and Conclusions: This brief report describes a patient with this phenomenon caused by a PA from a pituitary macroadenoma. 2,3,4
