Materiał i metody: W artykule wykorzystano publicznie dostępne dokumenty i dane EUROPOL, FRONTEX oraz Komisji Europejskiej. W badaniach nad przestępczym wykorzystaniem migracji w celu handlu ludźmi wykorzystano metodę analizy ilościowej i jakościowej. Wyniki: Liczba ofiar handlu ludźmi wykrywanych w Unii Europejskiej po 2012 roku utrzymywała się na względnie stałym poziomie, pomimo wzrostu liczby nielegalnych migrantów. Wnioski: Skuteczność przeciwdziałania przez Unię Europejską nielegalnej migracji i związanemu z nią handlowi ludźmi nie jest w pełni satysfakcjonująca.
