Reverse mortgages (RM) are an attractive tool to increase retirement incomes and to face the needs of health care for elderly people. The investor in the RM market faces several risks: longevity risk, as retirees’ life expectancy increases, interest rate risk, especially in the low-rate post-crisis period, property market risk, in the last stage of the current business cycle. In our pricing model we incorporate the overall risk of the RM, focusing on the feature of the developing Chinese market.

The article presents the data of the assessment of the physical development and functional state of highly qualified gymnasts engaged in rhythmic gymnastics. It was found that high-skilled gymnasts have heterogeneity of somatotypes determined according to the B. Heath-J. Carter scheme and heterogeneity of types of autonomous nervous regulation of heart rate variability, systolic, diastolic blood pressure and respiration, determined on the spiroarteriorhythmocardiograph device. Highly qualified gymnasts have vago- and normotonic types of regulation of heart rate variability; normal-sympathetic- and hypersympathicotonic types of regulation of the variability of systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure, vagotonic type of regulation of the variability of the respiratory rhythm. Statistically significant differences gymnasts, successful in the medal standings at the international competitions and gymnasts participating, but not in high prizes in competitions, consist in the ability to resist fatigue while performing strenuous mental work (differences were revealed in 10-letter “Mental performance” at a constant speed (p > 0.0001), and 3-letter test (p > 0.001)), data stabilometric test “Target” indicator “Time stability on the left foot” (R > 0.039) with the advantage of a high performing gymnasts artists. Fleshed out the possibility of using the parameters of the morphofunctional state of gymnasts in training for the qualitative evaluation of the physical development of gymnasts, evaluation set their sports uniforms indicated the possibility of developing the reference parameters of the morphofunctional status of gymnasts and recommendations on the frequency of the survey of morphological and functional status of gymnasts involved in rhythmic gymnastics.

This paper presents a brief literature review of previous studies methodologies, models, and contexts in studying firms’ upgrading in Global Value Chains (GVCs). The key context of this paper is set within Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Through the literature review, this paper offers to identify the opportunities of theoretical novelty and ways to elaborate on understanding firm dynamics in Global Value Chains in the context of 4IR. The approach based on Business Model (BM) innovations and new forms of organizing for business (such as platforms) is used to synthesize from previous research findings and build on to newer explanations of firms’ entry, learning, and upgrading within GVCs.

There is a recognition of 99% of economic enterprises in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) is small-and medium- size enterprise (SMEs) and 94% of employment. It is crucial that strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs in the Lao PDR as to sustainably develop localisation and identity of Laos to fulfil the needs of generalised systems of preferences certificate of origin. The Logit Model was employed to examine the impact of trade liberalization including the World Trade Organization (WTO) and ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) on SMEs performance. In addition, the second objective of this study is to investigate the factors affect the SMEs performance. The result shows that AEC awareness has significant impact on SMEs performance. In addition, there are various factors affect SMEs performance. Therefore, Lao government should promotion of implementation of AEC.

Chinese small towns are usually developed with single core industry, and the urban brand is the identity of a town that formed with the development of its industry. However, when the core industry representing its urban brand is facing a changing situation or market, will the brand be a motivation or an obstruction of the development of a town? The paper combined top-down and bottom-up research method to study the function of the urban brand in Wangqingtuo town in Tianjin, China. We studied over 400 samples (including government staff and town citizens) to make questionnaire investigation about the town’s branding. And we found that the solidified urban brand is a complicated emotional symbol for both government and citizens. The town has demand of exploring and developing new dominant industry, and it has the expectation to keep branding and upgrade its current core industry.

The introduction and implementation of finansijsko upravljanje i kontrola (FUK, financial management and control [FMC]) in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) aims to incorporate a modern public internal financial control (PIFC) system into traditional public resources management models. This area is one of the reform areas in which Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is obliged to harmonize the legislative framework and practice with the good practices and regulations recommended by the European Commission. The establishment and development of the PIFC are also an obligation of Bosnia and Herzegovina established by the Stabilization and Association Agreement between the European Community and the member states, of the one part, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, of the other part. The public internal financial control (PIFC) system focuses on enhancing transparency, financial discipline, and dedicated use of public resources, that is, transparent, economical, efficient, and effective management of public resources, and control of the use of those resources. The topic of this paper is “financial management and control in the public sector” where the aim is to show, through the conducted theoretical research, the level of achievement of the establishment of this system in public sector institutions in BiH. The European Union wants to direct all potential member countries towards development of internal controls in the use of their own resources, but also to create a control environment that would ensure the dedicated use of EU funds. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is no single legal framework in terms of a single law governing public internal financial controls. The contents of the applicable legal provisions at all three levels (BiH, FBiH, and Republic of Srpska [RS]) are largely congruent thanks to the Coordination Committee of Central Harmonization Units (CHJs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through which the harmonization of regulations and practices in the development of public internal financial controls is ensured.

In this paper, using data for the Bist 100 index, we investigate the presence of nonlinearities by employing several nonlinearity tests. The Brock, Dechert, and Scheinkman (BDS) and runs tests were first applied to the series to show an initial indication of nonlinearity. The findings for the BDS and runs test of randomness were followed by other sets of direct nonlinearity tests developed by White (1989), Terasvirta (1993), Keenan (1985), and Tsay (1986). Also, the Threshold Autoregression (TAR) test is employed as a final test to confirm the existence of nonlinearity in the Turkish stock exchange market. From the results of the nonlinearity test, it is concluded that the Bist 100 index is characterised by the presence of nonlinearities and cycles. This finding is in contrast with the efficient market hypothesis (EMH) implying that the Turkish stock exchange market is inefficient.
