We have investigated a quasi-phase-matching AlGaAs waveguide using cathodoluminescence spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. We found that the anisotropic diffusion of Al/Ga atoms causes Al-composition modulation as well as interface corrugations.

We present the observation of dispersion-free edge states in a honeycomb lattice. We show the existence of surface states on both zigzag and bearded edges, and display their dispersion-free nature by tilting the input beam.

We demonstrate comb generation with spacings of 80, 40, and 20 GHz using cascaded parametric oscillation in silicon-nitride spiral microresonators. Our measurements indicate that the comb linewidth is due to fluctuations in the pump power.

We have demonstrated the reduction of reflectance in curvilinear lamellar hyperbolic metamaterials and hyperbolic metamaterials with deposited TiO2 scatterers. The effect is accompanied by an enhancement of the sample's transmission and its non-reciprocity.
