Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the major techniques in wireless communication. Message delivery process will be damaged by channels during wireless transmission, so channel estimation on received side is very important. We disregard slight carrier interferences occurring after frequency estimation and frequency offset of OFDM system have been completed, but a wrong decision-making may be brought out due to phase revolving on constellations that caused to the rest of frequency offset. In this paper adopt an OFDM combined amplitude-locked loop to suppress co-channel interference according to signal characteristics of demodulation and separate in wireless channel environment. The proposed amplitude-locked loop separation system can be implemented and combined the statistic independent characteristics and mathematics algorithm to modulate for original signals.

In Taiwan, with the global medical technology advances, the average age of people is extended year by year. Also, due to the growth of older population, elderly welfare consciousness rises. The demand for older people on the appearance service is getting more and more attention, especially for hair, makeup, clothing, and other overall styling service. This study aims to investigate the application of multimedia design in older people for hairstyles, makeup, clothing and other colors overall beauty. Through interviews with experts, the researcher tries to understand the elderly after retirement, for the demands of their appearance. Collected through interviews with experts, this study comes to the following conclusions: 1. Elderly is still quite seriously for their outer looking, especially, elderly women. 2. Elderly, due to decreased visual acuity and colors, can not see clearly for certain colors, and easily confused, especially the darker color is not easy to differentiate. 3. According to the analysis, elderly women in central and southern part of Taiwan, are more diverse in the color of clothing and tone of acceptance than younger women in the same area. 4. Experts believe that senior citizens are likely to change in their hairstyle, make-up, and the overall styling due to environmental differences.

Power-assist robots are expected to assist the motion in daily living of physically weak persons. The concept of perception-assist has been proposed to assist the sensory ability in addition to the assist of motor ability of the user. In the perception-assist for a lower-limb power-assist robot, perception-assist can be applied to avoid the unexpected stumbling of the user. In that case, a virtual wall is used to avoid the stumbling of the user. In this paper, the dynamic property of the virtual wall is varied according to the user's foot position to make the proper lower-limb motion. Experiments results show the effectiveness of the defined dynamic property of the virtual wall.

Nowadays production improvement of orchids in flower nursery is relying on intelligent environmental management. Such objective can be realized by cooperating with automation controls, computer science, and sensing technologies. In this paper, we introduce our orchid nursing system involving sensors' alignment processes. Here an enclosed mobile nursery is equipped with a low-cost embedded system for monitoring and control applications. Environment's information is then detected by peripheral sensors, which are picked out from coarse ones using efficient error convergent algorithms. According to our elimination result of sensors, proposed alignment mechanism can efficiently converge the deviation between sensors and is promising for real-life nursery construction in the future.

Bimodal biometrics can overcomes some kinds of limitations of single biometrics and obtain a higher accuracy than single biometrics. In this paper, we propose a palm print recognition method based on the adaptive fusion of 2D and 3D palm print images. 3D palm print contains the depth information of the palm surface, while 2D palm print contains plenty of textures. Firstly, the biometric trait can be obtained by an adaptive fusion method. Combine the 2D and 3D Palm print images together by a complex vector. In this phase, we use the automatic weighted combination strategy. We assume that any test sample can be expressed as a linear combination of all the training samples in complex space. Then we can find M near neighbors of the test sample by solving the linear system and use the effect of the M near neighbors to perform classification. The experimental results show that the proposed method can obtain a higher accuracy.

The implementation of smoothing robust control for a delta robot has been explored in this paper. Delta robots are usually used for the high speed pick-and-place or highly precise applications in the manufacturing factories. For the inherent mechanical structural constraints of delta robots, they would make the motion control more complex than serial manipulators. A delta robot control system is a highly coupling system and easy to induce position errors or chatter due to the effects of other attached limbs. In order to solve the serious problem, this paper implemented a smoothing robust control method, MDDS, to guarantee the smoothly and robustly dynamic behavior as we designed. The method has the capabilities of dynamics prediction and disturbance estimation, and then outputs the control efforts to deform the dynamic manifold of the controlled plant into the desired manifold. In the hardware structure, the paper uses a self-designed kernel development board with PC-based HMI to execute the experiments. The control methods are designed by the combined kernel of DSP and FPGA. We also develop the PID control method in the development board to make comparisons. Moreover, the validation of this control architecture for a delta robot is verified successfully through the results of experiments.

This paper contains experimental procedure of webcam-based eye-tracker specially for low power devices. This paper consists of five processes. First one is background suppression for reducing average processing requirement. Second one is Haar-cascade feature-based face detection algorithm. Third one is geometrically eye-position determination. The fourth part is to detect and track eye-ball center using mean of gradient vector. The fifth and last step is to detect where the user looking. We simply calculate percentage of movement of eye to detect either it looking left, right, up or down. This procedure is highly effective with satisfactory accuracy. It also requires less processing power.

A corner-based image alignment algorithm based on the procedures of corner-based template matching is presented in this study. This algorithm consists of two stages: training and matching. In the matching phase, the corners are obtained using Harris corner detection algorithm. These corners are then used to build the pyramid images. In the matching phase, the corners are obtained using the same corner detection algorithm. The similarity measure is then determined by the differences of gradient vector between the corners obtained in the template image and the inspection image, respectively. Furthermore, it further applied the refined function to evaluate the geometric relationship between the template and the inspection images. Results show that the corner-based template matching outperforms the original edge-based template matching in efficiency, and both of them are robust against lighting changes.

This research tries to make use of extensibility of matter-element to transfer the descriptions of design problems and solutions into creative fields. By possessing a symbolic system and transformation rules, the Su-Field analysis model can assist designers to diagnose and solve most design problems. The concrete result includes, introducing concept extension of matter-element into symbolic developments to derive out more creative solutions. The advantage to combine construction of symbolic system in Su-Field model and the transformation and extension of matter-elements are also assessed by preceding an innovative design case, labor-saving mop. The case study successfully demonstrates that the proposed design process is feasible and efficient.

A simple electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement method to characterize the influence of microstructure on the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is proposed in this paper. The membrane electrode assembly (MEA) with and without the anodic micro porous layer (MPL) are evaluated respectively by EIS. The interaction of anode and cathode are on-line measured during the discharge regime of DMFC. By the separation of anode and cathode EIS, the effects of anodic MPL on the anode and cathode reaction are systematically discussed and analyzed in an operating DMFC. Moreover, the functions of anodic microstructure on the full cell impedance that correspond with the practical cell performance are interpreted reasonably.
