The inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) is the blood supply vessel in the left colorectal cancer (CRC) and is the focus for clinicians during the operation of the left-sided CRC. Different IMA treatment methods will affect the blood supply of the anastomotic bowel after the operation, thus affecting the prognosis. Nevertheless, the individual anatomical variation rate of IMA is great. It is the crucial to perform precise high/low ligation and standardized lymph node dissection according to the anatomical characteristics of IMA in laparoscopic radical resection of left-sided CRC. In the present study, we reviewed the effects of IMA length, classification, the relationship with adjacent vessels and ureter, and different IMA treatments on the prognosis of patients.

Research progress on surface modification of three-dimensional printing porous titanium alloys 三维打印多孔钛合金表面改性研究进展
Pub Date : 2023-01-01 DOI: 10.4103/digm.digm_23_22
Hongwei Liu, Xi Cheng
Three-dimensional (3D) printed porous titanium alloy has good mechanical and physical properties and chemical stability. It is widely used in the field of additive manufacturing to realize the personalized customization of complex structures, such as industry, military, aerospace, and medicine, especially in the customization of personalized orthopedic implants and the repair and reconstruction of bone defects. However, due to the biological inertia of titanium alloy, the cell adhesion of the untreated metal surface is poor. Therefore, surface modification to enhance the biocompatibility and promote bone activity and antibacterial activity of 3D printed porous titanium alloy has become a research hotspot. In this article, the surface modification technology of 3D printing porous titanium alloys is reviewed from four aspects: physical modification, chemical modification, biochemical modification, and metal ion coating.

Background and purpose: To characterize the global physician community's opinions on the use of digital tools for COVID-19 public health surveillance and self-surveillance.

Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, random, stratified survey done on Sermo, a physician networking platform, between September 9 and 15, 2020. We aimed to sample 1000 physicians divided among the USA, EU, and rest of the world. The survey questioned physicians on the risk-benefit ratio of digital tools, as well as matters of data privacy and trust.

Statistical analysis used: Descriptive statistics examined physicians' characteristics and opinions by age group, gender, frontline status, and geographic region. ANOVA, t-test, and Chi-square tests with P < 0.05 were viewed as qualitatively different. As this was an exploratory study, we did not adjust for small cell sizes or multiplicity. We used JMP Pro 15 (SAS), as well as Protobi.

Results: The survey was completed by 1004 physicians with a mean (standard deviation) age of 49.14 (12) years. Enthusiasm was highest for self-monitoring smartwatches (66%) and contact tracing apps (66%) and slightly lower (48-56%) for other tools. Trust was highest for health providers (68%) and lowest for technology companies (30%). Most respondents (69.8%) felt that loosening privacy standards to fight the pandemic would lead to misuse of privacy in the future.

Conclusion: The survey provides foundational insights into how physicians think of surveillance.

1 The contact map of cases assists in early decontamination of public facilities. The artificial intelligence‐generated digital algorithm can be used to color‐code various regions in the country as red, yellow, and green, a data which can assist authorities in easing the present “lockdown” regulations. At present, there are more than 100 million users for the “Aarogya Setu” in India. Linking the “Aadhaar” – the 1.22 billion Indian citizen biometric database[5] – with “Aarogya Setu” has vast future potential in easing international travel, social mapping, and containing any catastrophic epidemic disasters in the post‐COVID‐19 era, provided public trust and transparency are ensured.
