A child of 9 months presented an iridial, semitransparent neoformation in the left eye, that protrudes from the anterior chamber to the posterior part of the cornea. The histologic examination shows the cyst wall formed of 2-3 layers of cubic epithelial cells, the superficial iridial stroma rarefied and dislodged and the deep one with a perivascular lymphoplasmocytic infiltrate. The posterior iris epithelium, at the formation level, is normal. Histological diagnosis shows an iridial congenital cyst placed intrastromally.

The patient, aged 44, presented fever and chills with altered general condition and received an analgesic-antipyretic treatment with salicylic acid and pyrazolon derivatives. A bullous eruption that followed was labelled incipient Lyell syndrome. Both cornea presented ulcers with a tendency to perforation and mucosynechial conjunctivitis. Pathogenic Staphylococcus albus was isolated from the conjunctival secretion. The ocular phenomena improved under mydriatic treatment and trophic medication. Lyell's syndrome is the result of a severe medicamentous toxemia. Stress is laid on the role of Staphylococcus aureus, phage type 71, in the process of epidermal necrosis with detachment of the epithelium and ulceration of the mucosa.

Systemic immune vascular pathology raises very often diagnosis and differential diagnosis difficulties generated by the multitude and polymorphism of its clinical symptomatology. Chorioretinal modifications, sometimes particular, may complete the general clinical picture of the systemic immune vasculitis, favouring a correct clinical diagnosis. At the same time, a better knowledge of the clinical picture of some general systemic affections may lead to a correct diagnostic interpretation of these chorioretinal modifications. The paper presents the author's own classification of the main systemic immune vasculitis and also several rare affections (with immunologic implications) with emphasis on the vascular chorioretinal syndrome and on the clinical general one.

The paper reports on a study of 32 cases of new-born children who presented various ocular congenital anomalies, studied by karyotype. The genetic investigation was performed for identifying the risk factors.

The paper reports on the functional results in the surgery of the glaucoma-aphakia pathologic relation, in a group of 30 patients: several very good, others moderate with uncertain visual prognosis, as a function of the precocity of the operation, blockage site and stage of the disease evolution. The present paper reports on the case of an 18-year-old man with congenital cataract and microphthalmos of the left eye, divergent strabismus and sursum vergens. Macular degenerative lesions were also present in the right eye, hypoplasia of the iris in both eyes and fixation nystagmus with equal jerks in both directions. The general physical examination showed congenital atrial septal defect. The morbid cardiac and ocular association plead for rubella embryopathy.

The authors report on the automation of an ophthalmologic clinic that includes the following steps: a) electronic, information, automation networks in certain departments of the clinic; b) integration of all the important tasks in a system that ensures a certain functional framework to the clinic (electronic clinic); c) inclusion of the ophthalmologic clinic in an all-country information specialty system; d) establishment of international information links in the field of ophthalmology.

The analysis of a group of 289 presenile cataracts, in patients between 31 and 60 years old showed that 33 cases were due to ovarian insufficiency, 9 of them appeared after ovariectomies for ovarian cyst, 9 after hysterectomies, 4 after other obstetrical and gynecological surgeries, 2 after ovarian inflammatory processes and 9 were generated by central ovarian insufficiency with precocious menopause. The low secretion of ovarian hormones and mainly of estrogenic hormones induces--at the level of sensitive receptors--involutive modifications such as the lens opacification.
