This is the second report on Division of Health Examination Statistics the school achievement of children 6-11 years of age in the noninstitutionalized population of the United States as estimated from the Reading and Arithmetic subtest data of the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) obtained in the Health Examination Survey of 1963-65. It contains findings by selected demographic and socioeconomic variables. The National Center for Health Statistics, of which the Health Examination Survey is a major program, was authorized under the National Health Survey Act of 1956 by the 84th Congress as a continuing Public Health Service function to determine the health status of the population.
