Gorlin-Goltz syndrome has mainly three components; basal cell carcinoma, jaw cysts and skeletal anomalies. However, various cases of this syndrome with over 40 different kinds of components have been reported. In this paper, a case with Gorlin-Goltz syndrome treated in our clinic have been presented and discussed.

The studies carried upon the pontic-mucosa relation, show that inflammatory changes take place in the adjacent soft tissue. It was also reported that inflammatory reactions were observed in the 95% of the cases following the removal of the prosthesis. In this study the clinical and histopathological data of the cases showing pontic designing complaining about their prosthesis, were evaluated. Clinically in almost all the bridges there was a question of collapsing and pressure upon the mucosa, particularly at posterior group bridges. The histopathological examinations of the sections taken from the underpontic mucosa having hyperemic appearance, showed bleeding regions, degeneration and descuamation in epithelium, and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration at the surface regions under epithelium. These findings prove the chronic inflammatory process in the mucosa under the bridge pontic.

In the recent years, silicone elastomeric impression materials are widely used in prosthetic dentistry. The accuracy and dimensional stability of these silicone elastomeric impression materials affect the success in their clinical usage. In this study, accuracy and the time-dependent dimensional stability of silicone based impression materials were evaluated. The effect of time is important when using silicone elastomeric impression materials. The result of this study clearly indicated that the silicone impression should be poured as soon as possible.

In this study relation between Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD) and anxiety was investigated. For this purpose 2 different questionnaires were given to a total of 360 students (192 girls and 160 boys) aiming to determine the anxiety levels and their tendency to develop TMJD. After obtaining the results from the questionnaire for TMJD, the students are first divided into 2 main groups according to have TMJD or not, then into 5 consisting of "bruxism", "occlusion", "trauma", "combined" and "normal" groups. The groups were compared with each other for the relation between anxiety, TMJD and age. A positive relationship was demonstrated between anxiety and TMJD but statistically significant correlation wasn't found between age and TMJD. Also, the results didn't show any correlation between bruxism and anxiety levels.

Several index systems have been used for the identification of periodontal diseases and assessment of periodontal treatment needs up to date. In 1982 World Health Organization and FDI have developed a new index system for the assessment of periodontal treatment needs "Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs" (CPITN) which was well adapted for the field studies. Because of it's being an universe and practical system, it has been the common language of periodontists in a few years. Our study which was carried out on the 271 students of Ankara University from each sex group using CPITN criteria have shown a wide spread of periodontal diseases among these students and 50 percent of code 2 treatment needs.

When identifying a specific tooth, dentists list the dentition, arch, quadrant and tooth name. There are several systems of naming and coding teeth. It is necessary that the dental team be familiar with all systems so that communication between dental offices is possible. In this article, the most popular systems are reviewed and their advantages, disadvantages are discussed. These systems are Universal, Palmer and FDI. Also, other systems are summarized. The Palmer/Zsigmody notation have been used widely in the world, but caused problems in typing and printing. And also, it is not suitable for computer processing. The FDI two-digit system helps to prevent errors when differentiating between right and left sides of the mouth or between upper and lower dental arches. It also has advantages when typing and is capable of being incorporated in computer languages.

A general character of porcelain is the firing shrinkage which creates some problems in the fabrication of porcelain restorations. To overcome this matter, a well condensation which increases the strength of porcelain and decreases the shrinkage, is recommended. Taking this point into consideration, a moulding system is developed and it is found that pressing the porcelain in a mould, minimized the shrinkage, strengthened the structure and increased the compression strength. As a result we can say that this technique has important advantages in porcelain work.

Bonding of two different materials, like porcelain and metal, is affected by many factors during the firing process. Thermal compatibility is one of the prerequisites in metal-porcelain bonding. Plus, the geometric differences are also accepted as an effect in thermal compatibility. In this study it is observed that the metal framework designs that we used had no effect on the strength of porcelain; however the thermal compatibility of metal and porcelain had an important effect. Besides, it is also witnessed that in metal-porcelain restorations, structures in similar strengths are achieved with hollow type pontic designs as with solid type, if they are prepared in proper conditions.

Present investigation was designed to evaluate the regenerative potential of the periodontal ligament tissue in degree III furcation defects. The upper 2. and 3. premolar teeth of 3 dogs were used. Periodontal breakdown was induced around the teeth by experimental periodontitis model. After the breakdown occurred, mucoperiostal flaps were elevated and granulation tissue removed. The roots were curretted and cementum of the periodontitis involved parts of the roots was removed. The resorbable material was trimmed to approximate size needed to cover the root surfaces. The material provisionally adapted to the both buccal and palatinal root surfaces and flaps were sutured. After 42 days of post operative period histological examination of experimental and control groups showed that chances of obtaining new connective tissue attachment may be enhanced in treatment of Cl III furcation defect by Guided Tissue Regeneration.

The effects of a cavity varnish and two bonding agents on marginal microleakage at the interface of amalgam restorations and cavity walls in extracted teeth is investigated with a dye penetration technique. Marginal microleakage associated with amalgam restorations can be greatly reduced by paintings a bonding agent on the inner wall of the cavity.
