A case of post-traumatic temporomandibular joint ankylosis is described, and the technique of the treatment is detailed. Previous review of the literature was made in order to know the advantages of the treatment. There are several reports of children who have suffered facial injuries and fractures of the facial bones that became into ankylosis, characterized by the formation of new temporomandibular joint surfaces. The patient was a five years old girl who presented ankylosis of TMJ due to a car accident six months before. The symptom were: Limitation of motion, persistent close lock of mouth (2 mm) muscle pain that causes the patient to avoid eating foods, and the gradual loose of phonetic function. Condylectomy of the left mandibular condyle was performed to correct the mechanical problems associated to ankylosis. The patient had an uncomplicated postoperative course, and now are waiting the outcome of the treatment by a follow up study.

This paper describes an epidemiological-clinical study performed at the Iztacala School of Professional Studies, a dependency of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Records of 2,733 patients treated over a four year period were analyzed so as to examine the relationship between pulp and periodontal diseases, both of which are extremely prevalent in the Mexican population. On the basis of results thus yielded, it was possible to make specific recommendations regarding dental care following diagnosis.

This study presents a statistical review of corrective surgery for cleft palate, based on cases treated at the maxillo-facial surgery units of the Pediatrics Hospital of the Centro Médico Nacional and at Centro Médico La Raza of the National Institute of Social Security of Mexico, over a five-year period. Interdisciplinary management as performed at the Cleft-Palate Clinic, in an integrated approach involving specialists in maxillo-facial surgery, maxillar orthopedics, genetics, social work and mental hygiene, pursuing to reestablish the stomatological and psychological functions of children afflicted by cleft palate, is amply described. The frequency and classification of the various techniques practiced in that service are described, as well as surgical statistics for 188 patients, which include a total of 256 palate surgeries performed from March 1984 to March 1989, applying three different techniques and proposing a combination of them in a single surgical time, in order to avoid complementary surgery.

An erupted cystic complex odontoma's case is reported. Histological, radiographic and clinic/fractures were considered. Erupted odontomas are unusual lesions; we did not find similar case reported in the literature.

Although radiological diagnosis is easily and readily performed by orthopanthomography, with lateral oblique and anteroposterior projections, the image of dentigerous cysts may, on some occasions, be confusing. We submit the case history of a patient whose computerized tomography data may be useful in differential diagnosis.

This paper presents a statistical review of corrective surgery for cleft lip, as performed at the Maxillofacial Surgery wards of the Pediatrics Hospital, National Medical Center, and the General Hospital, La Raza Medical Center, Institute of Social Security of Mexico. Frequency of occurrence, as well as most commonly used classifications, are described and correlated with results reaped from our study, which covered from March 1984 to March 1989, with surgeries performed on 116 patients suffering from unilateral and bilateral cleft lip; 120 plastic reconstructive maneuvers were performed by the Millard advance rotation technique or the modified Tennison Randall technique with triangular flaps, with Le Mesurier's square flaps approach for unilateral fissures and the Verdeja and Cronin techniques for bilateral clefts, thus defining criteria for treating children with cleft lip and cleft palate.

The objective of this project was to establish a comparison between methodology for evaluating pulpar responses, in order to establish clinical diagnosis and actual condition of the pulpar organ as analysed under photonic microscopy. Accordingly, 54 specimens of single-root, teeth, from patients attending the Endodontics Clinic, were used for study. Clinical diagnoses were correlated with histopathologic findings, having found only one case (1.85%) of clinical and histological similarity.
