Maxillary and/or mandibular osseous alveolar reabsorption that occurs after teeth loss is a continuous and irreversible process that, in authors opinion, seems to affect more women than men and more the mandible than the maxillary. In our country the epidemiologist profile of the problem is unknown and previous published studies at this respect was not found by this author in domestic literature. In this paper maxillary mandibular Alveolar Atrophy Syndrome characteristics are studied in a group of patients of the Departamento de Cirugía de la Escuela de Odontología de la Universidad del Bajío on the perspective of its prevalence in relation of sex, problem seriousness and its topography.

A colorimetric and opacity percentage study was carried out to compare experimental prototypes of resin at different die and additive concentrations with commercial prototypes. A simple and reproducible method was used. Through this study the optimum die and optical brightener formulas for a new dental resin were found and compared with available commercial dental resins in the national market.

The Tests described in the American Dental Association Standard No. 27 were carried out with five commercial dental resins available in mexican market. These are: Adaptic, Concise, Miradapt, Degufill and Finesse. Two of them are of the macrofilled type (II), one is of the hybrid type (mix of macro and micro particles; type II) and two of the microfilled type (I). All the resins tested met satisfactorily the specifications of the A.D.A. standard No. 27 for dental componsed resins, according with their classification.

The histological diagnosis of parotid gland tumoral pathology is difficult in some cases. Morphometry provides a possibility to quantify the histopathology minimizing the risk of a misdiagnosis. On this basis, a morphometric study of the normal parotid tissue and 13 types of parotid tumors is carried out and nuclear Area, D. Circle, Form. PE, and Form. AR are calculated. Statistical analysis the results is made using the Student's "t-test" and significant differences between benign and malignant tumors and between each tumor and the remainder are obtained. Contribution of the results to the histopathological diagnosis is discussed.

In this paper the nylon-resin technique is proposed as the idoneous fixing technique of dentary displacement treatment and/or radicle fracture due to dentoalveolar traumatisms, of high incidence in children. In order to probe the effectiveness and advantages of this technique a comparative study against the wire-resin technique was done. The fixing time proposed for both procedures was 14 days. The techniques were applied in the same number of patients indistinctly in age, sex, affected teeth, and type of lesion. After evaluation we observed that the proposed technique is superior in several aspects: fulfils with the requirements of an ideal ferule, is aesthetic, easier to elaborate, more resistant, more compatible with tissues, and because of their semirigidity, more functional.

To adequately organize the assistance services of the Departamento de Estomatología of the Hospital Infantile de México, it was selected at random a group of 260 patients, that attended for medical stomatological attention, to determine which was the systemic disease and the oral problem that were more frequent. This longitudinal study was realized in an age group that covered infants and adolescents (1 to 20 years). The largest group was children between 4 and 6 years (45 to 8 = 119), the sex distribution was boys 25% and girls 20.8%. It was observed that the most frequent was the hereditary anomalies (74 cases), followed by respiratory disease (58 cases) and the same for nervous system disease.

In the present time the high value of panoramic radiography on diagnosis is recognized in all odontology areas. Panoramic radiography shows in one picture upper and lower arches and numerous adjacent structures that is why it has a special value in pediatric patient radiography examination.

Five hundred orthopantomograph radiographs of mexican children and adolescent from 7 to 18 tears old were reviewed in order to establish the third molar formation and calcification stages and the most frequent anomalies related to these teeth. We find that tooth bud presence is between 9 and 11 years; Third molar is absent in 32.4% of the population; 7.4% of the molars presented early formation stage malposition; Therefore oligodontia diagnosis and third molar malposition can not be done before 13 years of age.
