Nursing department orientation: are we missing the mark? 护理部门培训:我们是否没有达到目标?

Hospitals routinely provide orientation for the new nurses they hire. The evolution of nursing practice is not reflected in the current teaching methods of nursing orientation. The authors examine the past 60 years of nursing department orientation and assert the need to move toward more effective and innovative teaching strategies.

Clinical competency, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction: perceptions of the staff nurse. 临床胜任力、自我效能感与工作满意度:护士长的认知。

This descriptive study obtained survey data that explored the perception of staff nurses regarding their clinical competency, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to identify nursing professional development issues, data that can then be used to develop evidence-based educational programs.

Standards of professional performance for nursing professional development. 护理专业发展的专业绩效标准。

P rofessional practice in any specialty includes continually increasing knowledge and maintaining competence to best serve constituents, whether those constituents are patients of a specific population, staff who are being led by managers, or learners who are being taught. Those who successfully practice Nursing Professional Development (NPD) as their specialty have a unique body of knowledge and skill set, just as those nurses who practice in other specialty areas such as renal dialysis or neonatal intensive care. Clearly, nurses are not easily interchanged, and competence in one practice area does not automatically ensure success in another. Recognizing the unique knowledge and skill set of each area of practice, whether it be a clinical specialty or a specialty such as administration, education, or informatics, is essential. Defining standards of practice and professional performance is critical to the advancement of the specialties and the individual’s practice.

Professional nursing burnout and irrational thinking: a replication study. 职业护理倦怠与非理性思维:一项重复研究。

This expanded (n = 648) replication study examines job-related burnout in practicing nurses in relation to five maladaptive thinking patterns at eight northeast Florida hospitals. Data supported the hypothesis that maladaptive thinking patterns may be related to nurses' burnout thoughts and behaviors. The focus of this research spotlights the individual nurse's thoughts, emotions, and actions and suggests that these burnout tendencies can be mitigated if not changed.

Nursing students in Gwinnett Hospital System's summer Nurse Extern Program participated in an innovative initiative that promoted critical thinking, prioritization, and teamwork. A collegial partnership between the Gwinnett Hospital System Learning Resources Department and the Georgia Perimeter College Department of Nursing used simulation as a patient care teaching methodology. Simulation may be one methodology that hospital-college partnerships can pursue in developing and achieving nursing excellence in future nurses.

Findings from a nursing student CPR study: implications for staff development educators. 一项护生心肺复苏术研究的结果:对员工发展教育工作者的启示。

This article reports a secondary data analysis of a year-long study with 606 nursing students involving brief monthly CPR practice with voice-activated manikins versus no practice. Findings indicate that even with monthly practice and accurate voice-activated manikin feedback, some students could not perform CPR correctly. Implications of these findings for staff educators are discussed.
