This paper tries to develop, in a theoretical aspect with the means of the philosophy of law and politics, the idea of applying the concept of ‘disease’ to these most important areas of social relations. This concept entered our lives rather aggressively along with the global pandemic and the decree-based rule initiated by global factors. It would be interesting to answer the question of whether we can find a symptom of an overall disease of modern politics and law in this ridiculous situation. The analyzed symptoms of the serious illness of today’s law and politics lead to the conclusion that present-day society needs very serious, revolutionary transformations to restore the perspective that these important spheres of public relations serve to solve the problems and conflicts of citizens. They will lead to the collapse of the system of today’s neoliberal authoritarian order and to the return of the nation-state to the protection of the people’s interests.

The article examines the underlying philosophical and existential questions, as well as the moral dilemmas related to the management of restrictive measures imposed during a pandemic. The issue of trust in the management of experts, which is relevant during the social crisis, are examined, and their deep meaningful connection with the philosophical teachings of Plato and Kant is noted. The paper also addresses the issue of human rights and freedoms and ways to interpret them in a situation of limitations and restrictions in order to curb the power of the COVID-19 virus infection.

The text traces the ideas of the modern Protestant theologian Dorothee Sӧlle (Mystik und Widerstand) on the relationship between active and contemplative life (represented by the biblical characters Martha and Mary respectively) in relation to her conceptions of a socially oriented Christianity. A parallel is drawn with the famous ideas of Hannah Arendt (The Human Condition). Commonalities are sought in the appreciation of the active, operative aspect of life (in unity with its contemplative aspect).

What is the role of stereotypical thinking and does it have a single mechanism? This article proposes a theoretical framework and an explanation of why thinking in stereotypes has become one of the biggest obstacles to achieving progress and building a just society in Bulgaria, as well as in other countries in transition from socialism to capitalism. Today’s party ideologies, media messages and mass expectations are woven from stereotypes, and that is why the topic is important. This type of thinking is present when the generic concept is identified with one of its species. This analysis also emphasizes the role of stereotypical thinking in dissociating with the great hopes of Bulgarian people for change and a better future, which were strong at the beginning of the transition, but today are on the verge of freezing. They were also the basis of the belief in the civilizational values coming from the West, which were supposed to replace the old backward socialist values of the planned economy and authoritarian socialism. The dream of them and the disappointment that they came to Bulgaria too slowly or even at all caused about 1/5 of the population, mostly young and active people, to look for sustenance and prosperity in the West. At the same time, poverty, social inequalities, and corruption settled in the country.

This paper reflects the relationship between contemporary media and games in the context of aesthetic research and the existing practice of digitalization of culture. The essay aims to explore and re-examine how the traditionally conceived notion of game can be considered and applied in theoretical terms in our time, taking into account the prevailing digital media culture and the presence of artificial intelligence in it. Furthermore, the essay deliberately addresses a possible critique of digital culture from the perspective of freedom and the general humanistic worldview.

The paper traces and analyses the main highlights in Hannah Arendt’s political ideas as reflected in her various writings. It examines her main concepts of politics, totalitarianism, power, freedom, and violence. With her interesting and unconventional research approach, she established a dominant position as a political thinker of the 20th century, and she continues to be a highly relevant and widely read author in the present day.

The article’s task is to generally clarify the grounds for the theoretical reversal in Asen Ignatov’s concepts by diachronically pointing out the main theoretical changes in them. At the same time, synchronic analysis is related to indicating general attitudes, ideological and political frameworks, and actions during the fixed time period. This would allow us to go beyond the personal reasons for such a transition, and to build a more complete picture of this inversion respectively, both in theoretical and socio-political terms. The article seeks to reveal what the consequences are of perceiving the dogmatic limitation of Marxism in socialist countries, as well as Ignatov’s position on this. In this way, the synergistic action of the various factors studied would expand the possibility of a truer understanding of the events in Ignatov’s creative life after his emigration in 1972.

Nowadays, it is increasingly difficult for us to construct the world as a result of the erosion of values in all spheres of society. The normalization of social deprivations, such as justice and security, positions fear in people’s everyday life. In his Rhetoric, Aristotle associates fear with the expected evil that can befall us. In the current situations of a pandemic with a possible restart and of closely positioned hostilities, the media multiply fear on a large scale.

The article analyzes the process of group-dynamic change and the way of leading a training group in the transition from an on-site to a virtual form of work. This change is analyzed in the form of a case study, which describes the specifics of the pandemic crisis and the need to move to a virtual form of leadership. The change in the group dynamics is commented on, and the interventions of leaders are described, which make the crisis functioning more adaptable and functional in relation to the task of the training group.

Communication can be defined as the process of sharing ideas, experiences, attitudes and knowledge by transmission of symbolic messages. Dental medicine is an area where technical skills are not the only prerequisites for being a good health care provider. Soft skills, such as active listening to the patient, appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication, empathy, and respecting ethical rules are significant in the dentist–patient communication process. Consequently, they influence patients’ attitudes, satisfaction, and ongoing health-related behaviour. Therefore, a training course on communication skills has been introduced at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the Medical University in Sofia. The aim is to improve students’ soft skills, and to form a behavioural design pattern concerning dentist–patient interactions.
