Biometabolic effects of different nutrients on embryonal cultures. 不同营养物质对胚胎培养物的生物代谢影响。

It has been valued the effects of different nutrients (glucose, phospholipids and ethanol) on the growth and morphology of chicken embryo cells, cultured in vitro by "pendent drop". Considering that the basal nourishing substratum used in these studies is the best medium that may be supplied to the cultures for the growth of this kind of tissues, the entity of damage induced by different nutrients has been shown. It may be said that the less negative effect is induced by 2.5% ethanol and by the association: "glucose + 2.5% ethanol", that the damage induced by only glucose seems to improve in presence of 2.5% ethanol, that in presence of phospholipids the cells appear all full of big lipid drops (especially in the condition: "phospholipid + ethanol") and that 5% ethanol deeply appears to impair and alter the cultures, as it was been observed in our previous experiences.

Multiple forms of monoamine oxidase in chronic schizophrenia. 慢性精神分裂症中多种形式的单胺氧化酶。

Reduced monoamine oxidase was found in the sera of fourty five schizophrenic patients with enzyme level (10 units), only five of these patients show enzyme level identical with minimum range of normal controls. Michaelis constants of schizophrenic patients show great difference from that of the normal controls. Our result suggests that schizophrenic patients possess a qualitatively different monoamine oxidase with an altered molecular structure. Four and five multiple forms were found in sera of normal human and schizophrenic patients respectively, using sepharose 6B, indicated that these different forms were of different molecular weight. Each multiple form is identified by cellulose acetate electrophoresis as they attached to different fraction of serum proteins.

After briefly outlining the biology of Toxoplasma gondii the authors discuss the resistance of the parasite in body liquids and tissues under certain environmental conditions. Parasite resistance and its consequent risk of human infection, particularly for the pregnant woman, is emphasized. Toxoplasma oocysts, the sexual expression of the parasite, and the cyst facilitate the diffusion of Toxoplasma, as they are much more resistant than the trophozoite.

In the rabbit striated muscle tissue the free and biostructured water content have been investigated using the pressing-out method. The following percent values have been found: 20% bound water to cell colloids and different cell particles, 61% biostructure-integrated water and 19% free water.

Seven different tissues of the fish, Rasbora daniconius are analysed chromatographically for their free amino acid contents. Alanine and Cystine followed by Glycine and Glutamic acid are the most common amino acids found in the tissues. On the basis of sex, no apparent difference in amino acid pattern in various tissues is found. Up to 70% of the amino acids of the pools fall in the range of pH from 4.5-6.5. Thus it appears that the pools have some bearing on the maintenance of the tissue pH.

Effect up to 72 hrs stages was evincible and varying occurrences of chromosomal irregularities.

Expression of thymidine kinase activity in hybrids between human leukemic cells and a TK-mouse cell line. 胸苷激酶活性在人白血病细胞与tk -小鼠细胞系杂交中的表达。

A series of actively proliferating clones have been isolated after PEG-induced fusion of a thymidine kinase deficient murine line and white blood cells from two leukemic patients. Their hybrid nature was proved both cytologically and biochemically. All the hybrids tested showed levels of TK activity significantly higher than the TK- mouse parental cell line and comparable to those exhibited by replicating TK+ cells.

Kinetics of lactate dehydrogenase and other enzyme studies in human serum in leukemia. 白血病患者血清乳酸脱氢酶及其他酶的动力学研究。

The activity of some of the clinically important enzymes was investigated in leukemic sera at 37 degrees, using the Beckman Enzyme Activity Analyzer were found to be slightly elevated in some untreated cases of leukemia (1.), while ALP was found to be frequently elevated. Untreated patients with l. had normal or below normal SCPK activity. The most characteristic and significant rise in activity, was found to be associated with SLDH and SHBDH in most cases of acute l. (86%) and in CML, while any elevation observed in CLL, was very slight. The general kinetic parameters of SLDH and SHBDH, were investigated at 37 degrees in acute leukemic patients. These included optimum substrate concentrations (NADH, pyruvate, and 2-oxobutyrate), the rate of pyruvate and 2-oxobutyrate reduction, substrate-velocity relationship, Km (pyruvate), Km (NADH), Km (2-oxobutyrate) as well as the effect of temperature and pH on the kinetics of the reaction. These kinetic characteristics were found to be differently affected by the leukemic process.
