The Trapezius Plane Block: Extended Use in Perioperative Pain Management in Nerve Transfer Surgeries 斜方肌平面阻滞:神经转移手术围术期疼痛管理的扩展应用

Nerve transfer surgery has emerged as a promising approach to restoring function in paralyzed muscles. The trapezius plane block (TPB) blocks the thoracic branches of the posterior primary rami, providing extended analgesia in nerve transfer surgeries. The case report describes the analgesia profiling of a young man who suffered a traumatic pan-brachial plexus injury and underwent a spinal accessory nerve to the suprascapular nerve transfer. TPB was utilized as a part of multimodal analgesia. TPB represents an advancement in regional anesthesia, providing extended analgesia and reducing opioid consumption. TPB can promote patient comfort and facilitate early mobilization.

: Ultrasonography (USG) is a resourceful tool in the perioperative period. A structured training curriculum during residency can enhance the utilisation of USG among residents. : This cross-sectional online survey was conducted to evaluate the utilisation of USG in the perioperative period and to assess the adequacy of current training. : A questionnaire was formatted consisting of 15 questions. The questionnaire was sent to the participants through email or any electronic mode of communication. This was an electronic survey conducted after obtaining informed consent from the participants.: It was found that although the availability of USG has increased, its use in the perioperative period is limited due to various factors such as time constraints. The adequacy of training is significantly different depending on the frequency of training (p-value < 0.01). The majority of the residents (N=82, 81.2%) felt that they needed more training in the utilisation of USG.: Integration of a structured training curriculum in USG as a part of anaesthesiology residency can aid in enhancing patient care in the perioperative period.

Objective: To show that the addition of Quadratus Lumborum Block (QLB) to multimodal perioperative pain management decreases perioperative opioid use, decreases pain scores, and facilitates same day discharge after robotic assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomies (RALP). Methods: We performed a retrospective comparative of patients who underwent RALP for prostate cancer from 2016 to 2020.
