Premarketing trials of olanzapine reported an occurrence of peripheral edema of 3%. Olanzapine belongs to atypical antipsychotics and is considered superior to its traditional congeners. Here we document a case of bilateral pedal edema which was developed secondary to olanzapine use, where all the systemic causes of pedal edema were ruled out. Pedal edema regressed on decreasing the dose of olanzapine and completely gets resolved after stopping the drug. So, we attribute the pedal edema to olanzapine drug therapy. As the definitive cause of pedal edema along with its consequences are not known, so stringent monitoring of this drug’s adverse effects is needed.

Eye disorder is the most common issue in today’s era. Hundreds of various eye disorders and eyesight issues exist. Some diseases are incurable, while many others can be treated. The modern system of medicine works incredibly with advanced techniques and formulations relevant to eye disorder but has certain limitations. Electrohomoeopathy is a new system of medicine founded by Dr. Count Cesare Mattei where the plant is the main source of preparation of medicine. In Electrohomoeopathy we study individual and combination plants show the synergistic effect when specific essence is rationally mixed together to form an effective group against the eye disorder. Spagyric medicine is an old form of natural medicine that has been tested, researched, and practiced for decades. In this article, we are going to discuss the pharmacological activity and the effectiveness of the Scrofoloso-12 group of Electrohomoeopathy medicine with the help of the animal model. Subsequently, we are going to evaluate and correlate the efficacy of Scrofoloso-12 group use in various eye disorders during clinical practice. Hence, the present study focuses on the scientific investigation of the effectiveness of the S12 group against Atropine induced corneal, light reflux, and mydriatic effect of rabbit models.

The beginnings of modern scientific ideas are frequently overlooked in today’s scientific education. We were curious about how early philosophers combined the ancient tradition of alchemy with rational thought and reasoning to lay the groundwork for modern scientific disciplines like chemistry and physics. Alchemy, the forerunner of modern chemistry, inspired the development of several scientific principles and experimental procedures that form the cornerstone of empirical science. It has been postulated that Alchemy had philosophical, astronomical, and religious foundations. It went beyond empirical science to grasp the complexities of nature by merging spirituality with experimental observation. Alchemy was obsessed with creating new materials, such as transforming basic metals into valuable metals like gold. In this article, we are going to discuss a scientific approach for the preparation of Electrohomoeopathy remedies via the Cohobation process with the authentication of modern Alchemy. Here we have also discussed Alchemical Cohobation. This article also included a pre-chemistry alchemy technique of multiple distillations, myths, facts, scientific evidence, and philosophy behind tria-prima, the three alchemy primes, and their importance in creating the Electrohomeopathy plant extracts and their potential effects on the human body.

Background: Rapid industrialization and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture are causing heavy and varied pollution in aquatic environment leading to deterioration of water quality and depletion of aquatic biota. Drinking water that contain high amount of heavy metals is a serious threat to the health of humans. People are exposed primarily to heavy metals through water consumption; however, few heavy metals can bioaccumulate in the body and may induce cancer and other risks. The objectives of this study are to assess the quality of packaged water marketed in Abuja metropolis and to compare the level of conformance to quality standards based on different processing technologies employed by packaged water manufacturers in the treatment of raw water. Methods: Different samples of both sachet and bottled water along with their raw water were randomly collected from different water production companies, coded and analyzed using the flame system of the atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) for elemental contents and also compare results based on production processes from the different companies. Results: The results obtained showed that 13.3% of the raw water sample were contaminated with lead, 46.7% of the samples contain nickel above WHO limit, while 40% of the sample had concentration of cadmium above the WHO limit. Conclusion: The study showed that the reverse osmosis and activated carbon filtration technique are highly efficient in removing unwanted particles/ contaminants. The study further revealed that some of the finish product had substantial amount of metals which are above WHO and NAFDAC limit for drinking water.

Background: Health literacy is the ability to seek, understand, and use health knowledge, is considered crucial to successful management disease and to determinant of health status. This study aims to determine factors which influence health literacy of older adults attending outpatient clinics at a teaching hospital in a middle-income country. Methods: A convenient sample of smartphone users aged ≥55years, recruited from the hospital outpatient department,, were recruited. HL was measured with the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q47) was utilized. The cut-off value of above 33 was considered adequate for the overall general HL index (GHLI) and well as individual domain indices. Results: Of the 580 respondents, mean (SD) age 67.9 (8.0) years and 319 (55.0%) women, 240 (41.3%) had GHLI score >33. Education, occupation, hypertension, high cholesterol and eye disease were associated with lower GHLI scores. Multivariate logistic regression models revealed that <5 years of education, homemakers and hypertension were independently associated with poorer GHLI scores, while all domain indices were additionally associated with ischaemic heart disease and DPI ≤33. Conclusions: Three out of five individuals aged ≥55 years scored beneath the desired cut-off for HCI. Lower education levels, homemakers, hypertension, high cholesterol and eye disease were independently associated with index scores ≤33 in at least one domain or the overall scores Future studies target individual with lower education levels, hypertension, high cholesterol, ischaemic heart disease and eye disease for interventions which enhance HL.

A pet has been share the environment for many times and also they are bringing major psychological well-being for society. However, dogs and cat was a carrier microorganism that pathogens for human infection, like viral, bacterial, parasitic, and others. From those pathogens they are the emerging or re-emerging viral zoonoses for human being, such as rabies, cowpox, rotaviruses and others. From bacterial infections include scratches, pasteurellosis, Staphylococcus aureus, Leptospira and tuberculosis leading to severe case for people because of their different factors which are occurs form pets animals. Similarly parasitic infections including hydatidosis, leishmaniasis, are also recalled as pet related zoonotic disease. Lack of Veterinary care, good personal hygiene and pet hygiene, absence of health education are the factors such a risk of zoonotic infection.
