The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the National Head Start Association (NHSA) are working together to advance the success of student-parents and enhance the school readiness of young children from low-income families. In 2024, the Kids on Campus project set the goal of establishing at least 50 new partnerships between community colleges and Head Start programs by 2030.

I wanted to write a column about leadership being a journey. So, I started by looking for a perfect quote. We learned in 8th-grade speech class: Find a quote, and write a speech based on it. I found a website with “850 Powerful Leadership Journey Quotes to Inspire You.” It claimed to be a “71-minute read.” Well, that's a little over the top. I didn’t really want to commit an hour and 11 minutes on a holiday weekend trying to find the perfect quote among hundreds.

One of my favorite graduate courses to teach was Adult Development. We covered the lifespan but spent most of our time discussing the last three phases of life (as defined by Erik Erikson). We studied other psychologists as well, but Erikson is the one to whom I can most relate. Erikson worked primarily in the 1950s through the 1980s.
