This paper describes the ohmic contact formation of polycrystalline 3C-SiC thin-films deposited on thermally grown Si (100) wafers. In this work, the TiW (titanium tungsten) film as a contact material has been deposited by RF magnetron sputter and annealed with vacuum furnace process. The specific contact resistance of the TiW contact was measured by using the C-TLM (circular transmission line method). Contact phase and interfacial reaction between TiW and poly 3C-SiC at high temperature were also analyzed by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and SEM (scanning electron microscope). TiW/poly 3C-SiC thin-films did not show cracks on the TiW film and any interfacial reaction after annealing. Especially, when the TiW/poly 3C-SiC thin-film was annealed at 800deg for 30 min., the lowest contact resistivity of 2.90times10-5 Omega-cm2 was obtained owing to the improved interfacial adhesion. Therefore, the good ohmic contact of poly 3C-SiC thin-films using the TiW thin-film are very suitable for microsensor applications in vehicle engine fields.

This paper presents the central heating network of Erdenet city. This central heating network is in heating network plant at thermal power plant disposal and its is bounded by central heat distributing wall. Also, the paper presents steps that must be implemented for the heating supply plant to be in perfect working order. It is imperative that the heating system is completely up-graded in order to cope with individual adjustment of heat consumption and to control energy limits with regard to the internal and external factors.

The bending problem of an anisotropic finite plate with smooth boundary containing defects like nonintersecting through thickness curvilinear cracks and rigid inclusions is considered. The problem is solved by the Lekhnitskii method of complex potentials written in the form of Cauchy-type integrals along the defect contours with unknown integrand density function which has the root type singularity on the defect tips. The boundary-value problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations subject to the conditions for the displacements to be single-valued upon circulating the closed contours around the cuts and equilibrium conditions for rigid inclusions. To illustrate the efficiency of the method proposed, some specific plate bending problems are solved. The stress distribution in the vicinity of the defect tips are studied for various plate configurations and orientation of defects. For isotropic plates, the solutions are obtained by setting appropriate numerical values of the anisotropic constants.

This paper describes the architecture and design procedure of a DSP (digital signal processor) for the digital audio applications. The suggested DSP has fixed 24bit data structure, 6 stage pipeline, and 127 instructions. Some of the instructions are specially designed for the audio signal processing. Almost instructions are completed within a single cycle. The designed DSP has been verified by comparing the results from CBS (cycle based simulator) and those of HDL simulation through the single instruction set test and the instruction combination test, and real audio applications. Finally, we confirm by the HDL simulation that the DSP carried out successfully out ADPCM and MPEG-2 AAC decoding algorithm. The DSP core is implemented in FPGA using ALTERA Excalibur device and operates at 4MHz.

Road vehicles, such as cars, trucks and buses, can produce significant amount of particular matter (PM) in urban areas. This study analyzes the correlation between air concentrations of PM (PM2.5, PM10, TSP (total suspended particulate)) and traffic volume near road sides in the metropolitan city of Ulsan, Korea. 9 road sides or areas selected for the study included a traffic rotary, 2 circulation roads (an industrial road and a car road), 4 downtown roads (including city hall) in Nam-gu, 1 residential area road in Chung-gu, 1 residential and industrial road in Dong-gu, which might represent major traffic density in Ulsan. A beta-ray attenuator and a high volume air sampler were used for sampling of PM during 3 classified time periods (morning, afternoon, evening) in a sampling day. Traffic volume has been counted using a manual counter during each PM sampling. High correlations were identified between PM concentrations and traffic volume [PM2.5 vs (heavy duty vehicles (HDV) + small vehicles (SV)), PM2.5 vs SV, PM10 vs (HDV+SV), PM10 vs SV, and TSP vs (HDV+SV)]. Also, significantly high correlations were obtained between PM concentrations [PM2.5 vs PM10, PM10 vs TSP, PM2.5 vs TSP, afternoon PM2.5 vs evening PM2.5, and afternoon PM10 vs evening PM2.5]. However, the correlations between PM10 and HDV and between TSP and HDV were very weak. PM concentration characteristics obtained from the circulation road that its traffic mostly consists of small cars and its environment has a lot of green areas were quite different from those obtained from the road sides passing downtown or residential areas of Ulsan.

In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm that can be detected impact position on LPMS using the characteristic of RMS (root mean square) values and analysis of frequency. The proposed estimation algorithm of impact position uses the arriving difference time method using the analysis of frequency and the RMS value. The LPMS (loose parts monitoring system) are used for detecting and evaluating metallic loose parts in reactor systems. On experiment, we use the modeling steel drum instead of real reactor and 4 accelerometer sensors for acquiring the impact signal. And the computer is connected the accelerometer sensor input and used for monitoring and analyzing of impact signal with Lab-view and Matlab programs. It is efficiently used for reducing processing time and estimated impact position.

In the present work, the microstructure and properties of Cu-based composites with 4.5 vol.% dispersed TiB2 particles developed by a combined process of mechanical alloying (MA), self-propagate high temperature synthesis (SHS) and spark-plasma sintering (SPS) will be reported. The microstructure of the composites revealed that the TiB2 dispersoids with the particle size of smaller than 250 nm uniformly distributed in Cu matrix. The sintered samples obtained approximately 99% in relative density after sintering at 650 degC for 5 min. The fine dispersed TiB2 dispersoids in Cu matrix was the main reason to improve the mechanical properties of the composites. The hardness reached a value of 74 HRB. The result of tensile test showed that the ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and Young modulus increased from 187 MPa, 158 Mpa and 119 GPa for pure Cu to 485.7 MPa, 355.3 MPa and 157 GPa for the composites, whereas the electrical conductivity remained a high value of 83 % IACS. After soaking at 850, 900 and 950 degC, the hardness of composites decreased to 62, 61 and 55 HRB, respectively. The softening temperature was determined to be higher than 900 degC.

One of the two spindles in the X-lift broke suddenly during normal operation. The location of the breakage is where considerable stress concentration occurs and moreover the bending moment is at the maximum. Macrofractographic features associated with rotating-bending fatigue are evident on the fracture surface. The measured surface strain of the spindle varies cyclically as the spindle rotates and supports the rotating-bending fatigue. The X-lift is not perfectly symmetrical with respect to the horizontal plane. The unsymmetrical deformation can occur and cause the bending of the spindle. The 3-D finite element analysis of the X-lift revealed the bending of the spindle.

A new approach to synthesis of asymptotically invariant optimal algorithm for detection of a signal with selective fading was developed. Synthesized algorithm has such useful property as the invariance of its characteristics with respect to statistical dependence of the quadrature components of noise at coinciding time points. When using the algorithm we can put no attention to such dependence of the noise.
