Our studyaimed to explore the effect of the interaction between brand attachment and nicotine dependence on the motivation to quit smoking. Contrary to our initial hypothesis, whichsuggestedthathighlevels of brand attachmentcombinedwithstrong nicotine dependencewouldlead to low motivation to quit smoking, ourresultsrevealed an unexpected trend. Participants lessattached to a specific cigarette brand wereactuallylessinclined to quit smoking, indicatingthatindividualswho are not stronglyattached to a specific cigarette brand maybesonicotine-dependentthat the type of cigarette itselfbecomesless important. Thus, theymaybelessmotivated to quit smoking. A comprehensiveunderstanding of thesemechanismswouldoftenrequire a multidimensionalapproach. This shouldbeinvestigated in future studies, integratingvarious variables to obtain a more holistic perspective of the phenomenon.

This study investigates the interplay between stress perception and its intensity concerning performance in a professional setting. Contrary to our initial hypothesis of an interaction between stress perception and intensity, our results reveal that individuals perceiving stress as a challenge exhibit higher performance levels, while those viewing stress as a threat experience significantly lower performance, irrespective of stress intensity. This underscores the importance of how individuals interpret stress in the workplace. Our findings have crucial implications for management, employees, and human resources, suggesting that fostering a positive perception of stress as a challenge could enhance overall performance. Drawing on Lazarus and Folkman's transactional model, stress is viewed as a dynamic relationship between individuals and environmental demands. Stress emerges from the subjective appraisal of events rather than the events themselves. This study distinguishes between threat and challenge appraisals, positing that threat perceptions decrease performance, while challenge perceptions enhance it. Additionally, Hanin's stress intensity theory suggests an optimal performance zone unique to each individual. Eighty-five participants (62 men, 25 women) completed a questionnaire assessing stress perception, intensity, and professional performance. Stress perception was manipulated using the Appraisal of Life Events Scale, measuring threat, challenge, and loss. Intensity was assessed with a single item. Professional performance was measured using the Attainment of Sport Achievement Goals Scale.Contrary to expectations, there was no interaction between stress perception and intensity. Threat perception correlated with decreased performance, while challenge perception correlated with increased performance. No significant effects were observed for loss perception. Satisfaction with performance did not align with increased performance levels. Our hypothesis of an interaction effect was not supported, highlighting the impact of stress perception on performance. Positive stress appraisal correlated with enhanced performance, aligning with Lazarus and Folkman's appraisal approach. However, high-performance levels did not necessarily translate into satisfaction, potentially influenced by self-critical tendencies associated with positive perfectionism. Limitations include subjective performance measurement and reliance on self-reporting, suggesting the need for future research combining subjective and physiological measures. This study emphasizes the influence of stress perception on workplace performance, urging managers to consider employees' interpretations of situations. Fostering a challenge perception and providing clear goals may enhance performance and well-being, acknowledging the unique responses of individuals to stress.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, the Philippine government declared a lockdown of cross-border supermarkets and educational institutions, affecting library services around the world. Academic libraries struggle to choose the specific services and methods they offer, from minimal dialogue to no user dialogue. This study aims to assess the functionality of academic librarians during COVID-19 pandemic as a basis for enhanced guidelines for academic libraries in the Philippines. Researchers used a qualitative approach, specifically the phenomenological study and interviewed a total of five academic librarians. Participants from the study are from selected Adventist institutions chosen through heterogeneous purposive sampling. Interviews were video recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. Results revealed that COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges to the libraries such as internet connection issue, budget constraints, usable platforms, and limited online resources, yet they continued their operations and services through via online. Five out of seven librarians consider the COVID -19 as positive because despite the current situation, they continued receiving support from their administrators that speeded up the digitization for their collection.

This article aims to study gender relations in the workplace and the different strategies employed by both men and women through the theory of social categorization. In a patriarchal society like Morocco, where men outnumber women in the workforce, what identity strategies will women implement in the workplace? And what social categories will both genders align themselves with in order to gain a favorable position? Following our study, we were able to validate our hypotheses that men would tend to align themselves with an expert-novice partition, positioning themselves as experts compared to women perceived as less competent. Meanwhile, women would align themselves more with an oppositional partition, in which they are seen as bearers of more positive values compared to men who are associated with negative values.

Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) is an important synthetic textile fiber used in various industries, including apparel, home furnishings, and industrial textiles. Bangladesh, a developing country with a growing textile industry, has the potential to become a major producer of PSF. This journal manuscript presents an in-depth analysis of the scope, opportunities, and challenges of PSF production in Bangladesh. The scope of PSF production in Bangladesh is vast due to the country's low labor costs and availability of raw materials. Additionally, the government's support for the textile industry through incentives and infrastructure development provides further opportunities for PSF production. However, there are several challenges that need to be addressed, including the high cost of importing machinery and technology, the lack of skilled labor and technical expertise, and the need for investment in research and development. Moreover, environmental concerns related to the production process, such as waste management and energy efficiency, need to be addressed for sustainable development of the PSF industry in Bangladesh. The manuscript presents an overview of the current state of the PSF industry in Bangladesh, including production processes, raw materials, and export markets, as well as an analysis of the industry's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Overall, the manuscript highlights the potential of the PSF industry in Bangladesh for growth and development, provided the challenges are addressed and a strategic approach to the industry's development is taken. The manuscript concludes with recommendations for policymakers, investors, and industry players to promote sustainable and inclusive growth of the PSF industry in Bangladesh.

The paper aims to explore the efficacy of collaborative written corrective feedback (CPWCF) on EFL students’ business English writing performance. The author designed the quasi-experimental research, and deployed class observations, content analyses of English major students’ weekly papers in combination with their pretest and posttest results to understand how CPWCF influences students’ business English writing performance. In addition, he adopted Bandura’s Social Cognitive Learning Theory(1989) as the analytical framework to view the experimental results. The findings indicate that the experimental group students are motivated by giving and receiving CPWCF, and they benefit from giving CPWCF more than receiving it. Moreover, they outperformed those in the controlled group in terms of task fulfillment, organization, vocabulary, and grammar. Regarding the writing process, CPWCF is influenced by different aspects of students’ behavior, their cognitive ability, and the learning environment. In short, CPWCF has led to students’ improved writing performance.

An experiment was carried out to identify the perfect dose of Flash hormone for induced breeding of Mystus cavasius at the Reliance Aqua farm hatchery during the period from 29th June to 25th August, 2015. Three treatments (T1, T2, and T3), each with three duplicates, made up the experiment. From the brood rearing ponds, 45 pairs of female and male were selected, with a male to female sex ratio of 1:1. A single injection of Flash hormone, specifically 0.166, 0.125, 0.1 ml/kg body weight for males and 0.33, 0.25, 0.2 ml/kg body weight for females respectively in three treatments, was given to the brood fishes. The T1, T2, and T3 treatments showed a fertilization rate of 79.0, 88.7, and 77.51%, a hatching rate of 56.61, 60.03, and 37.78%, and a survival rate of 40.56, 50.86, and 32.07%, respectively. For all treatments, the incubation times for fertilized eggs were between 23 and 28 hours. The findings of the data analysis reported that the use of Flash hormone in T2 treatment resulted in the highest rates of fertilization (88.7%), hatching (60.03%), and survival (50.86%). When comparing the three Flash dosages, there were notable changes (P<0.05) in the rates of hatching, fertilization, and survival. A single dosage of Flash hormone (0.125 ml/kg body weight of male and 0.25 ml/kg body weight of female) in T2 was the hormonal combination that produced the greatest results for M. cavasius induced breeding.

This research’s goal is to give a better understanding of the heart rate of dogs & humans, and how hearing affects the heart rate. According to the medical experts of Small Door Veterinary, nearly 10% of pet dogs develop heart failure causing more and more dog owners to be concerned about this issue. Also, research and studies from the doctors in Mount Elizabeth have shown how stress is one popular reason why people suffer from heart problems to anxiety (Abel, Kelvin and En, 2023). One example of what people do to relieve stress is by listening to music. Researchers at Stanford University have noted that music is something anyone can use and is a great stress-reduction tool (News Center, 2007). Colorado State College of Veterinary Medicine study has also revealed that easy listening music has a soothing, therapeutic effect on dogs and may mitigate stress (Classical Music Calms Shelter Dogs, New Colorado State University Study Says | News & Media Relations | Colorado State University, 2012). Our participants listened to 2 sets of music in each genre. Then checked the average heartbeat rate by using the PISCO nursing practice stethoscope. After an analysis on the average of the two music in each genre, it shows that songs that fall into the category of pop or rock increased the heartbeat of the dog compared to the average heartbeat after listening to calm genres such as jazz.

This article examines the comparative study on ethnic conflicts in Northeast India and Balochistan of Pakistan focusing on the political actors and factors of the insurgencies. This article argues that ethnic conflicts in Northeast India and Balochistan in Pakistan have become institutionalized form of armed violence due to economic deprivation, political domination, cultural injustice, lack of communication, resource competition etc. Moreover, the politicization of issues like governance, political economy, colonialism, role of central government, foreign intervention and media coverage significantly promotes ethnic insurgencies into nationalist movements with a view to achieving their self-determination in their respective territories. The article looks at the representation of these political causes of ethnic conflicts as well as how and to what extent ethnic conflicts in Northeast India are different from that of Balochistan in Pakistan.
