The Impact of Variable Fluid Properties on Biomagnetic Maxwell Fluids Past a Stretching Sheet with Slip Velocity and Heat Generation/Absorption 变流体性质对生物磁性麦克斯韦流体通过具有滑移速度和热产生/吸收的拉伸片的影响

The impact of variable fluid properties (viscosity and thermal conductivity) and magnetic dipole on biomagnetic Maxwell fluid past a stretching sheet with slip velocity and heat generation/absorptionhave been studied. Similarity transformation technique is adopted to obtain the self-similar coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Using similarity variable, the basic governing equations with boundary conditions are transformed and solved in bvp4c technique with MATLAB software. The contribution of different pertinent parameters such as viscosity, thermal conductivity and ferromagnetic parameter on the flow profiles with physical quantities are analyzed and examined through graphically. Results shown that with increasing ferromagnetic parameter, slip parameter, Maxwell parameter, velocity decreases but temperature increases. For accuracy of the proposed model to compare our numerical results in numerically and graphically with the previousliterature under some limiting cases and a good agreement is found.Dhaka Univ. J. Impact of Horizontal Grid Resolutions for Thunderstorms Simulation over Bangladesh Using WRF-ARW Model 水平网格分辨率对WRF-ARW模式模拟孟加拉国雷暴的影响

In this paper, an attempt has been made to study the physical and dynamical characteristics of three thunderstorms that occurred on 06 May 2017 over Mymensingh, Chuadanga, and Sylhet in Bangladesh by the WRF-ARW model of 5 and 10 km horizontal resolutions, and to find out the impacts of horizontal grid resolution for simulating thunderstorm events. The model was run for 48 h using global Final Analysis (FNL) data. Various meteorological parameters such as Mean Sea Level Pressure (MSLP), wind pattern at several pressure levels, relative humidity, and radar reflectivity along with the atmospheric instability index are analyzed and compared with the observed data of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The model has captured the low pressure area, the conjugation of easterly and westerly wind, the presence of strong convection, high magnitude of vertical wind shear, marked dry-line, updraft, and downdraft reasonably well for the finest grid resolution. But the convective available potential energy (CAPE) value is found almost similar near the places of occurrence for both resolutions. Physicochemical Properties and Metal Ions in Water and Sediment of the Dhaleshwari River 达利什瓦里河水和沉积物的理化性质和金属离子

This study was aimed to measure sediment and water quality parameter such as moisture and ash content, pH, TOC, TSS, BOD, TOC, DO, Electrical Conductivity (EC) and Na, K, Ca and Cr metal ions from Dhaleshwari River close to the Savar Tannery Estate (STE). The moisture and ash content of sediments were 23.45-31.42% and 2.09-5.80%, respectively. The pHs of sediment and water samples were 5.20-6.21 and 7.68-8.03, respectively. The average of Ca-hardness, DO and BOD in water were 885.9±88.8, 1.80±0.10 and 16.70± 1.43 mg/L, respectively. The EC of the sediment and water were 24.60-374.00 μS/cm and 32.80-39.50 mS/cm, respectively. The amount of TOC in sediment and water samples were 1.29-3.25g/100g and 2.28-2.70 mg/kg which are very low indicating the fewer amounts of plant and animal residues and sediment biota. TSS in water was 776-936 mg/L which is higher than the permissible limit (600 mg/kg). The Cr content was determined by AAS which implies that the sediment has significantly higher Cr content (38.78-681.62 mg/kg) compared to water (< 0.005 mg/L). Determination of Stability Constants of Iron(II) Complexes of as-Triazines Containing Ferroin-Yielding Chromogens 含铁生成色素的三嗪类铁(II)配合物的稳定性常数测定

With the aim of determining stability constants of iron(II) complexes of 3-(2-pyridyl)-5,6-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazine (PDT), 3-(2-pyridyl)-5,6-bis(p-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine (PBMPT) and 3-(2-pyridyl)-5,6-bis(4-biphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine (PBBT), these organic reagents were prepared from commercially available relatively cheaper reactants. The absorptiometric characteristics of iron(II) complexes of these organic compounds; λmax and molar absorptivity (€max) were determined. The composition and stability constants of these iron(II) complexes were determined by both molar ratio and Job’s continuous variation methods. The mean logK values for iron(II) complexes of PDT, PBMPT and PBBT were found 16.48, 17.48 and 15.54 respectively reflecting the formation of very stable complexes. These are well comparable with the reported values for the iron(II) complexes of 2,2’-bipyridine, 1,10- phenanthroline, Ferrozine and Ferene. Higher sensitivity and stability constant values reflects the possibility of application of these compounds as promising chromogenic reagents for iron determination. Dhaka Univ. J. Determinants of Unmet Need for Family Planning in Bangladesh: Analysis of Matched Case-Control Survey Data of Bangladesh 孟加拉国计划生育需求未满足的决定因素:孟加拉国匹配病例对照调查数据分析

Unmet need for family planning (FP) is responsible for lowering contraceptive rate which elevate unwanted pregnancy that have adverse effects on maternal and child health. This study uses Bangladesh Demographic Health Survey, 2014 data in order to identify the factors that are associated with unmet need for FP in Bangladesh. Since the survey is observational, a case-control data has been used matched by age and education of the respondents and the analysis was carried out by using a conditional logistic regression. Unmet need for FP was found to be higher in the rural area, among Muslims, among women who were not exposed to media or not member of any NGO, among couples having no sons. Dhaka Univ. J. A Procedure for Scheduling Inventory of an Industry by Merging Forecasting and Linear Programming 结合预测与线性规划的工业库存调度方法

In this paper, we develop a mathematical model combining forecasting and linear programming for a business organization of Bangladesh to calculate optimum order quantity and inventory cost. We test the model using raw data of the demand for the raw materials and spare inventory for the industry and find out minimum total inventory cost along with ordering cost and inventory holding cost. The developed model make a match between the forecasted demand of raw materials and spare inventory and the minimum total cost of inventory. Finally comparing minimum cost, we observe that our estimated appropriate forecasting method gives optimal inventory cost. Dhaka Univ. J. Sci. 68(1): 65-70, 2020 (January)

The Impact of Cumulus Parameterization Schemes on the Simulation of Tropical Cyclone “Roanu” Over the Bay of Bengal Using WRF Model 积云参数化方案对WRF模式模拟孟加拉湾热带气旋“Roanu”的影响

A sensitivity study has been made on cumulus parameterization (CP) schemes of Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model for the simulation of tropical cyclone Roanu which formed over Bay of Bengal during May 2016. The model was run for 72 hours with different CP schemes such as Kain–Fritsch (KF), Betts-Miller-Janjic (BMJ), Grell–Freit as Ensemble (GFE), Grell 3D Ensemble (G3E) and Grell–Devenyi (GD) Ensemble schemes to study the variation in track, intensity. The landfall position error is minimum for BMJ scheme but the time delayed only 1.5-5 hours for all schemes except GD scheme. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of minimum sea level pressure and maximum wind speed is smaller for BMJ, GFE, GD schemes. The RMSE-MAE of rainfall is minimum for BMJ and G3E schemes. Except GD scheme all the other schemes give the better result. Dhaka Univ. J. Sci. 68(1): 87-94, 2020 (January)

Design and Simulation of a Dual Conversion Transformerless Online and Line-Interactive UPS 双变换无变压器在线互动式UPS的设计与仿真

In this paper, a dual-conversion online static UPS and Line-Interactive UPS system was modeled and simulated using PSIM software. The components of the proposed design were specified based on pre-defined constrains, and the dynamic behavior of the system was modeled through state-space equations. With the system components characterized, a suitable controller was developed for closed-loop control of the buck and boost circuits. A battery charge management controller was also developed to ensure the robustness of the design. Overall system performance was analyzed under varying load and line conditions. Conversion bypass switching was simulated and the overall system performance was analyzed while observing the state of charge – SOC behavior of the battery. Dhaka Univ. J. Maternal Health Care Seeking Behavior in Urban Area of Bangladesh: Does Migration Create Inequity? 孟加拉国城市地区孕产妇求医行为:移民是否造成不平等?

The main aim of this paper is to find potential sources that affect maternal health care seeking behavior of women of urban areas in period around the birth of their children using data extracted from Bangladesh Urban Health Survey 2013. To examine the maternal health care seeking behavior among women,antenatal care, place of delivery and postnatal care are considered as dependent variables and several demographic and socio-economic factors are included as independent variable. The study reveals that the recent migrant women and slum dwellers have a tendency of being disadvantaged in context of maternal health care. There is still plenty of room to work on maternal health care among women in urban areas especially among recent migrants so that significant improvement can be initialized to achieve an equity in overall health care system in Bangladesh.
