An analysis of replenishment policies for perishable inventory system with postponed demand and multiple vacations 具有延迟需求和多假期的易腐库存系统的补货策略分析

In this article, we consider a perishable inventory system with postponed demand and single server. The server is allowed to take multiple vacations during stock out period. The demands that arrive during a stock out period or server vacation period either postponed their demand or considered to be lost according to a Bernoulli distribution. The postponed demands are sent to a place called pool and its capacity is finite. When the server is not in vacation and the inventory level is above s, the demands in the pool are selected one by one with FCFS discipline. The waiting time distribution for demands in the pool is derived for both (s, S) and the variable ordering policy. System performance measures for model with variable ordering policy and (s, S) policy are also computed under steady-state case. And these performance measures are used to calculate the total expected cost rate for both policies. Finally, using numerical results, we compare the optimal total cost rate corresponding to two policies and also we compare the expected waiting time of the pooled demands.

Closed-loop supply chain simulation with disruption considerations: a case-study on Tesla 考虑中断的闭环供应链仿真:以特斯拉为例

Performance impact of severe disruptions in the reverse part of an automotive closed-loop supply chain is studied with the use of a discrete-event simulation model implemented in any Logistix software. A hybrid case study-simulation methodology is applied in this research to analyse the six-echelon closed-loop supply chain of Tesla from positions of resilience. Based on the secondary data, an example for the German market has been created and investigated. More specifically, the results help to show how a disruption in the reverse supply chain may affect the financial and operational performances of the company. Different recovery policies have been simulated in order to analyse how each might recover the supply chain from disruption and restore its operation and performance.

Analysis of inventory and financial performances of Esprit based on its corporate financial reports 根据Esprit公司的财务报告分析其库存和财务业绩

Esprit is a leading fashion brand and principally engaged in wholesale, retail, fashion, lifestyle products. Esprit reached its peak in 2008, then fell constantly and decreased 98% net profit in 2011. According to its 10/11 financial report, inventories continued to increase, the risk gradually accumulated. The inventory amount increased from HK$ 2.46 billion to HK$ 4.22 billion, inventory turnover in the number of days grew from 65 days to 75 days. Motivated by these industrial evidence, we explore in this paper the reason behind the decline of Esprit and the high inventory level through summary of its corporate financial reports from 2008 to 2015 (since Esprit reached its peak in 2008). From this study, we identify the key factors affecting Esprit's success through various analyses based on different frameworks. We identify the strengths and weaknesses of Esprit's operations and propose recommendations from the 'systems optimisation' perspective.

Single-vendor multi-buyer game theoretic model under multi-factor dependent demand 多因素需求下的单卖家多买家博弈模型

Market demand for any single-type of products depends upon multi-factors. Demand is increasing day-by-day due to the globalisation of products, customer's choice and finally, priorities are now changing according to these factors. In this scenario this paper deals with a single-vendor multiple-buyer supply chain model with imperfect production dependent-demand. This model has been solved by using decentralised and centralised policy and Stackelberg game approach is used to find optimum profit individually in decentralised case. Total profit has been maximised when multi-factor dependent demand is consideredin a single-vendor multi-buyer sustainable supply chain model. Numerical examples and managerial insights are delivered to illustrate the model numerically.

When unit item costs are high and expected demand during leadtime is low, it may be desirable to implement the (0, 1) inventory policy which calls for ordering one unit when the inventory falls to zero. Under this policy, when demand arrivals constitute a renewal process it may also be desirable to delay the order release (but expedite the orders occurring during the delay period). This paper examines the (0, 1) model by focussing on its probabilistic properties. We first present explicit expressions for, Using these results, we introduce a (service-level type) chance-constraint on the number of expedited orders and determine the optimal and finite order delay. We also consider a case where the cost of expediting an order may be difficult to estimate and compute its implied value. More general models that allow non-monotone renewal density and random leadtimes are also presented and analysed.

A replenishment control system with uncertain returns and random opportunities for disposal 具有不确定回报和随机处置机会的补货控制系统

We consider a replenishment control system in which product returns play an important role in inventory planning. We focus on the inventory of an individual item that is stored at a single location to meet a constant demand over time. We assume that the total amount of returns accumulated over a period of time can be represented by a compound Poisson process. We further assume that opportunities for inventory disposals or relocation arise occasionally in accordance with a Poisson process. We not only seek to resolve the issues of when to order and how much to order, we also consider the question of when to dispose of excess inventory and by how much. Inventory reductions occur when the opportunity for a disposal arises and the inventory position is deemed too high. After each disposal the inventory position is restored to a specified base-stock level. We develop a cost model of this system and highlight its properties through an extensive numerical study.

Joint planning for spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance in a multi-echelon network 多级网络中备件库存与预防性维护的联合规划

Spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance play a vital role in ensuring operational availability of capital equipment. This paper investigates the cost-reliability benefits from jointly optimising preventive maintenance and spare parts inventory. Due to the problem complexity and the mathematical intractability, we propose a simulation framework to tackle this joint planning problem in a multi-echelon network. The general simulation model developed in this paper allows a closer-to-reality analysis of joint decisions on spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance for a fleet of equipment with increasing failure rates. Both block- and age-based preventive maintenance policies are considered. We also adopt a performance-based contracting approach to analysing the trade-off between inventory cost and target availability in different incentive mechanisms. Numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the joint policies.

This paper investigates the cost-reliability benefits from jointly optimising preventive maintenance and spare parts inventory. Due to the problem complexity and the mathematical intractability, we propose a simulation framework to tackle this joint planning problem in a multi-echelon network. The general simulation model developed in this paper allows a closer-to-reality analysis of joint decisions on spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance for a fleet of equipment with increasing failure rates. Both block- and age-based preventive maintenance policies are considered. We also adopt a performance-based contracting approach to analysing the trade-off between inventory cost and target availability in different incentive mechanisms.
