Nicht-medikamentöse Therapien spielen in der Behandlung von Menschen mit Typ-2-Diabetes mellitus (T2DM) eine zentrale Rolle. Eine seit mehr als 100 Jahren bekannte Ernährungsstrategie zur Verbesserung der Stoffwechsellage bei Diabetes sind die sogenannten Hafertage. Hauptverantwortlich für die Wirkungen des Hafers ist vermutlich der haferspezifische Ballaststoff Beta-Glucan, der aktuell in den Fokus des wissenschaftlichen Interesses rückt.
