Background: Preventive knowledge about soil-transmitted helminth infections of ethnic minority is still limited. With women in reproductive age, soil-transmitted helminth infections that affect pregnancy cause anemia, premature birth, underweight children, and even death of mothers and babies. Method: The cross-sectional study conducted interviews technique for 309 ethnic minority women aged 15-49 who were systematically randomized. The study period was from January 2021 to July 2021 and it was located in Dak Wil Commune, Cu Jut District, Dak Nong Province. Results: The percentage of women who knew about ascaris lumbricoides accounted for the highest rank (50.48%), followed by ancylostomidae (34.95%) and finally trichuris trichiura (26.86%). 89.81% of people who joined in the study had poor knowledge of soil-transmitted helminth infections. The proportion of people accessing information and communication was still low (56.31%) while most people (98.38%) wanted to receive information about the prevention of soil-transmitted helminth infections. The majority of information received was confirmed by health workers (62.64%). Conclusion: The percentage of ethnic minority women who lack knowledge was still quite high. Most participants did not have good enough knowledge of prevention. Nearly half of the study participants had never received any information about the prevention of soil-transmitted helminth infections, while most of the participants wanted to receive information about the prevention of disease. Recommendation: The authorities and commune health stations should strengthen communication on preventive knowledge of soil-transmitted helminth infections, especially those with low-educated, the Dao ethnic minority women and 36-49 years old females. Focus on communicating to people about information related to the prevention of soil-transmitted helminth infections.

Background and objectives: Pesticides were used more and more in agriculture. They were difficult to control, leading to an increase in the number of acute and chronic poisonings and pesticide residues in food. The improper use of pesticides in crop cultivation in Luc Ngan might cause adverse effects on public health. Research object and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study to assess the knowledge and practice of using pesticides among people in the fruit growing area of Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province. A total of 160 fruit growers with exposure to pesticides within 6 months were interviewed using a questionnaire to learn about their knowledge and practices. Result: Knowledge about pesticide use and correct practice had a high rate (93.8% and 84.4%). The people (88.8%) would understand the harmful effects of the practice if it was not harmful to people who came in contact with and receive crops. The rate of fruit growers using labor protection when mixing and spraying pesticides reached 100%.The use of labor protection at the study site was very high at 100%. The rate of correct practice on labor protection when mixing and spraying pesticides was low at 10%. Conclusion: The people's knowledge about using pesticides was quite high, but the correct use practice was still not good. Therefore, it was necessary to strengthen the propaganda and guide the community on the effective use of agricultural equipment in agriculture.

Background: It is estimated that about 7 million people around the world die from exposure to air pollution every year, and the majority of those deaths are due to exposure to outdoor air pollution. In Vietnam, air pollution is one of the top five environmental causes of disease burden and premature death. The study objective is to calculate the disease burden associated with long-term exposure to PM2.5 in Hanoi. Methods: The study used mortality data, population data combined with a map of the average PM2.5 in 2019 by district in Hanoi. Global Exposure Mortality Model – GEMM was used on BENMAP-CE software to estimate the study results. Results: in 2019 the average concentration of PM2.5 in the grid cells ranged from 22.9 µg/m³ to 39.5 µg/m³. The premature mortality rate among people over 25 years of age due to exposure to PM2.5 was 35.5/100,000 population and contributed about 12% of all deaths among adults (25+) in Hanoi. The life expectancy lost due to premature death related to PM2.5 exposure was 908 days, or about 2.84 years of age reduction. The ratio of years of life lost was 992.5 years per 100,000 population. Conclusion: This study indicates that Hanoi authorities need to take urgent measures to improve air quality and protect public health. In addition, it is urgent to develop a strategy to conduct studies to assess the long-term impacts of ambient air pollution on health in Vietnam as a whole.
