Indonesia is in the area of equatorial latitude which is known as a tropical climate country. On the other hand, many Indonesian people are prone to suffering typical tropical disease such as typhoid, dengue and malaria. With the motivation to curb disease, they should be informed about awareness, treatment and knowledge regarding to tropical diseases such as the symptoms, causes and early prevention. Web-based expert system is one well-known solution, which can access online via internet. Usually, traditional inference engine is possible to make misdiagnosis in medical domain. In addition, modern inference e.g. Bayes theory are complicated plus insufficient to substitute complete human brain reasoning activities. Therefore, this study aims to hybridize Forward Chaining and Certainty Factor method for diagnosing common tropical diseases suffered by Indonesian people. We have used ten types of tropical disease namely typhoid, dengue, chingkungunya fever, malaria, chicken pox, tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis, SARS and elephantiasis along with 38 symptoms for representing every disease into a knowledge base. We compare the results between expert’s diagnosis and our proposed web-based expert system after running ten times consecutively. We can conclude that hybridization of Forward Chaining and Certainty Factor methods during developing the web-based expert system, can significantly diagnose tropical diseases properly.

Positive lightning contributes less than 10 % of cloud to ground lightning activities worldwide. Despite the low percentage, this discharge had attracted considerable attention from scientist around the globe because of some reasons, which among them are; higher current amplitude as compared to its negative counterpart and found to be related to transient luminous event known as sprites. Since Malaysia lies in the equator, the number of thunderstorm days is very high and numerous lightning activities had been recorded every year. Unfortunately, studies on lightning activity in Malaysia especially the positive type is very limited thus the characteristics of this discharge remain poorly understood. This paper served to review all findings of positive lightning research that had been conducted so far in the temporal region and some in the tropics to fulfil the needs of a comprehensive research on positive lightning especially in Malaysia. Data from USA, Sweden, Canada, Sri Lanka and Malaysia were compiled, compared and presented in this paper. It was found that the characteristics of positive lightning recorded in the temperate region is different than those data in the tropics. Therefore, a profound and extensive study is suggested to be conducted to further understand the mechanism that leads to this disparity.

Currently, the Klaten Furniture Cooperative consists of 50 members located in Serenan Juwiring, Klaten, Central Java. Management of cooperative activities is still manual included in the marketing of MSMEs furniture products. Based on the results of preliminary research, which becomes difficult for MSMEs furniture is a matter of marketing the products of MSMEs furniture, where during this every sale is done by using a second party or broker/intermediary. With this sales system, manufacturers have weaknesses, including a small profit margin, can not determine the price directly with consumers. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to have an information system that can be used as media / sales media of the furniture product directly to the final user. This study aims to build an information system that can be used as a means for sales of products produced by MSMEs. It is expected that with the sale by online system that can be used can increase SME Furniture revenue and strengthen the value and competitiveness of similar industries. The information system is developed using the general data needed to store the ordering information and the transactions performed. This information system development method is Rapid Application Development (RAD) which is supported with PHP programming language and MySQL database.

One of the ways to improve the efficiency of Wind Turbine Generator system (WTGs) is by control the output power to the maximum point at any wind speed variation. The maximum power of WTGs can be obtained by several methods, one of which is the optimum torque method. In this paper, a maximum power control of stand alone WTGs based on optimum torque control is proposed using dc-dc boost converter. In this method, the generator power is regulated at maximum point by controlling the electromagnetic torque at the optimum point. The electromagnetic torque is controlled by regulating the generator current through the boost converter. WTGs are designed to supply a single phase load through boost inverter. Battery energy storage system (BESS) is added to regulate the dc bus voltage, so that voltage fluctuations due to wind speed variations can be avoided. Simulation results show that the proposed system provides good response. The output power of the generator can reach the maximum point on any wind speed variation.

This study aims to analyse and evaluate the intructional design of a three dimensional animated physics learning media on the atomic core material by using blender application at a Senior high School. Three dimensional animation is still rarely found in education and need to see more how it can affect the education. Three-stages of development research was applied in this study. The first stage is the design stage of the media by using instructional design model type ADDIE. The second is the stage of media development using the blender application. The third is the stage of validation and reliability. Data were obtained from questionnaire filled by 54 respondents, consisting of 5 experts (Expert), 11 teachers (user experts), 20 teachers (users) and 18 students (users). The aspects assessed are pedagogical, content and technical aspects. The results showed that the validity score of experts was 4.515 which means that the learning media is valid with very high category. The Cronbach alpha values of both teachers and students as the users are 0.950 and 0.889 respectively. This indicates that the media is reliabel.

Wind energy is a promising alternative energy source that can be used to produce electricity. Wind energy is converted into electrical energy by the principle of converting the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy. This working system is often called the wind energy conversion system. Work equipment for this conversion process occurs at wind power plants. One part of the wind power generation system that is no less important is the monitoring section. Monitoring section functions to determine conditions and to control wind power plants. In this paper, a web-based monitoring system has been established. By using Arduino and a data logger system to store data on wind speed and voltage generated by the generator. Data obtained from the anemometer sensor and voltage sensor are processed by Arduino. Then the sensor data is stored on the SD card connected to the data logger shield. Furthermore, data can be viewed through the website based on data sent by GSM Shield sim900. So that users can monitor wind speed and voltage data through the website.
