: The current study was conducted to investigate whether feed coloring red or green, could stimulate pigeons to consume more feed thereby enhancing both productive and reproductive performance. The statistical analysis used in this study was a completely randomized design. A total of 18 adult pairs of pigeons were used at the beginning of the experiment. In this study, the birds used were divided into three experimental basic groups: the control group, the red-colored ration, and then the third group, was fed the green-colored ration. Each treatment had 6 adult pairs for three consecutive nesting cycles. The results indicate that under the condition of this experiment, a significant difference observed in body weight at 4 weeks (BW4) among the experimental groups, with means of 385g for the control group, 406g for the red group, and 355g for the green ration group, Moreover, significant differences were observed in total weight gain, with means of 366, 398, and 341, feed intake with mean values of 90.0, 93.9, and 88.4, and relative feed conversion ratio of 5.72, 4.26, and 5.91 for the control, red-colored ration, and green-colored ration groups, respectively. However, there were no significant effects of red or green rations on egg weight, body weight at hatch, fertility, hatchability, egg-laying cycle, or the period between hatching and the next laying. Based on the results observed from this study, consumption of red-colored food gave better results with regard to productive performance, while there were no effects on reproductive traits in a short time. Further researches are needed to study the effect of more colors in pigeon feeds to determine their impact on both productive and reproductive performance.

: Insects like Schistocerca gregaria , the desert locust, are becoming recognized as possible poultry feed. More and more scientists are becoming interested in using insects for poultry feed, especially as a novel and sustainable source of high-grade protein. This study investigated the effects of desert locust dietary supplementation on the growth performance, carcass quality, and blood biochemistry of broiler chickens. A total of 320 1-day old broiler chicks (Cobb 500) were randomly divided into 4 treatment groups (3 levels of locusts' supplementation and 1 control group) and fed diets with varying levels of desert locust inclusion (control, 1, 2 & 3%). There were four replicates of each dietary treatment resulting in 80 birds per treatment group (20 birds/ replication). Birds were arranged in a completely randomized design. The trial lasted six weeks, growth performance parameters were evaluated. Ten birds from each treatment were slaughtered for the carcass analysis at the end of the experiment. Additionally, 10 blood samples from each dietary treatment (from the slaughtered birds) were collected for biochemical parameters to assess the physiological parameters (plasma total protein, albumin, total cholesterol, triglycerides, creatinine, and uric acid) responses to the dietary treatments. Significant variation had been observed in the growth performance at 5 th week of age (P< 0.01). Broiler diets supplemented with 2% locusts were found to improve body weight and kidney function while having no negative impact on carcass and organ weights. The results indicated a substantial increase (P< 0.03) in the antibody titer against the Newcastle disease virus in the chickens fed 3% locust meal. The findings provide insights into the potential utilization of desert locusts as a sustainable protein source in broiler chicken diets. In conclusion, the use of desert locust meal in broiler chicken diets presents opportunities for the poultry industry to enhance sustainability, reduce costs, and improve feed efficiency.

: This study aimed to evaluate the egg quality traits of Golden Sabahia (GS) and Silver Sabahia (SS) as new developed Egyptian chicken strains at 36, 46, and 56 ‎ wks of age. Four hundred–eighty eggs were randomly collected from GS and SS chickens to determine external and internal egg quality traits and to calculate the geometrical egg parameters. Results showed that the(GS) strain had significantly greater egg weight, diameter egg (DG), and egg surface area (S) compared to those of SS strain. The yolk (weight and index %), albumen (weight, height, and Haugh unit), and eggshell weight values of GS eggs were significantly higher than those of the SS strain. As expected, internal and external qualities were increased by advances age. In conclusion, the geometrical parameters of egg quality for GS and SS strains may be taken into account for improving the hatchability of the expected commercial breed. Also, it is expected from the mentioned results of egg quality that Silver Sabahia could be valid become maternal line and Golden Sabahia as paternal line for producing commercial egg-type breed.

: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of dietary licorice supplementation on productive and reproductive performance with physiological response of Inshas local chicken strain in summer months. A total of one hundred and ninety two laying hens of Inshas local strain at 36 weeks of age were housed in floor pens and randomly distributed into four treatment groups. Each treatment consisted of 48 females in three replicates, with 16 hens per replicate. Birds in control group were fed on a basal diet without any additives, while, other treatments were fed basal diet supplemented with 0.5% , 1.0 % and 1.5 % licorice powder, respectively. The experiment was conducted under summer condition in Egypt and commenced eight weeks through July and August months. According to the results, supplementation the diets of laying hens with licorice powder significantly increased productive performance (egg production, egg weight and egg mass). Also, feed conversion ratio was improved for all treatments compared to control group, while there were no significant differences with regard to feed consumption. In addition, all studied concentrations of licorice powder significantly improved percentages of fertility and hatchability of fertile eggs compared to control. Besides, concentration of 1 and 1.5% licorice powder significantly enhanced hatched chick weight compared to those for control group. Moreover, some egg quality traits such as yolk index, shell thickness and Haugh unit had been significantly improved with all concentrations of licorice powder supplementation, while yolk colour had been improved with 1.0 % and 1.5 % licorice powder only. Values of s s , Hb, globulin, total antioxidant capacity and HDL were significantly increased by supplementing the diet with all experimental concentrations of licorice powder compared with those for control. Moreover, values of packed cell volume and plasma calcium represented the same significant increase response of licorice except that with 0.5% , while, H/L ratio, total lipids, cholesterol and LDL were significantly decreased due to all studied licorice concentrations compared to control. In conclusion, supplementing the diet of laying hens in summer season with concentrations of 1.0 or 1.5 % licorice powder could be a good tool for maximizing productivity and reproductivity coincided with improving blood parameters and lipid profile.

: This experiment was carried out to study the effect of ultraviolet light on growth performance, carcass, body organs, body measurements, bone characteristics, blood parameters and behavioral status of broiler chickens. A total of 225 one-day-old broiler chicks divided randomly into five treatments (3 pens per treatment with 15 birds per pen). Three light types; (LED, UVA or UVB) were followed, each group was exposed to 24 h light/day. The UVA and UVB traits each turn on for 5 h/day “UVA5 & UVB5” and 10 h/day “UVA10 & UVB10”. Treatments distribution was as follows: Treatment 1; Light-emitting diode (LED), Treatment 2; Ultraviolet light A5 (UVA5), Treatment 3; Ultraviolet light A10 (UVA10), Treatment 4; Ultraviolet light B5 (UVB5) and Treatment 5; Ultraviolet light B10 (UVB10). According to the findings, compared to the other groups, utilizing UVB5 lamps had a favorable impact on marketing body weight compared to other groups. Regarding cumulative feed consumption, it was shown that the UVB5 and LED groups each consumed more feed when compared to the other groups, and this difference was highly significant. In comparison to other traits, birds exposed to UVB10 had highest dressed carcass values and lowest relative levels of abdominal fat. The LED and UVB10 groups significantly increased in shank length and those exposed to UVA wavelength for 5 hours had higher value of keel bone length compared to other groups. Chickens exposed to UVA5 had a higher value of tibia Seedor Index. Besides, there was increase in plasma calcium level in broiler that exposed to UVA wavelength for 5 hours. Birds exposed to UVB lamps revealed better footpad status compared to other groups. In conclusion, the obtained results reported beneficial impacts when using UVB light for 5 hour per day in most studied measurements.

: The current design was conducted to investigate the impact of dietary Habarachad (HR) seeds as a dietary supplement on reproductive and economic performance of local rabbits in Egypt (Black Balady Rabbits). Rabbits were divided into four equal groups, each containing three female replicates and one male. The control group received commercial basal diet only, while the other groups received the basal diet supplemented with 2.5, 5, and 7.5 g/kg diet, respectively. The rabbits fed diets supplemented with both 5 and 7.5 g HR/kg diet recorded significantly the lowest feed intake than the control group. Litter size at birth significantly improved due to feeding on diet supplemented with 5 g HR/ kg diet followed by the diet contained 2.5 g HR/kg diet compared to the control diet. The kids from rabbits fed on diets supplemented with 5 g HR/kg diet had significantly the highest weight at birth and number at 21 day followed by the low level of HR as compared to the HR-untreated group. Litter size at weaning (35 day) was significantly increased by feeding on diet supplemented with 5 g HR/kg diet and the diet contained 2.5 g HR/kg diet came second followed compared to the control group. There was a significant improvement in feed conversion ratio due to feeding on diet supplemented with 2.5 and 5 g HR/kg diet compared to the control group. All different levels of HR had significantly higher value of serum globulin than the control group. Also, no significant alternations were detected in serum low density lipoprotein compared to HR-untreated group. On the other hand, it should be noted that both superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity were significantly increased by feeding diets supplemented with 2.5, 5 and 7.5 g HR/kg diet especially level of 5 g/kg diet compared to the control group. Conclusively, according to the results, it is concluded that dietary HR supplementation up to 5 g/ kg diet for Black Balady rabbit’s does could be used to improve and maximize reproductive performance and economic efficiency.
