Low back pain (LBP) is a common symptom among older adults and a major cause of functional disability due to its high prevalence and persistence. Pain-related disability affects functional and psychosocial status which leads to poor quality of life of the older adults. Cupping therapy has become common approach used for management of LBP which has several advantages; as it is simple, cost effective, and safe method with low side effects than other current therapeutics. Objective : to determine the effect of wet cupping therapy on low back pain severity and functional ability among community dwelling older adults. Design: A quasi-experimental research design was used in this study . Setting : the orthopedic outpatient clinic of Damanhour National Medical Institute, El-Behaira Governorate, Egypt. Subjects: The study subjects comprised fifty (50) older adults with LBP divided randomly into two matched groups of 25 subjects. Tools : three tools were used for data collection:1) Socio-demographic characteristics and Clinical Data of the Community Dwelling Older Adults with LBP Structured Interview schedule ,2) Iowa Pain Thermometer (IPT), 3) Modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire. Results : the wet cupping group had a highly statistical significant reduction in pain severity (P= 0.008) and significant improvement in functional ability (P= 0.001) post cupping therapy compared to pre cupping therapy with a statistically significant difference between the wet cupping and control groups . Conclusion: wet cupping therapy had affected positively the severity of LBP and functional ability among older adults in the cupping group. Recommendations : Coordination with different health care settings and heath care team members to facilitate integration of wet cupping therapy in care of older adults with LBP as an effective treatment method

Background : The achievement of learning goals via practical laboratory could be limited by laboratory time, incurred cost, safety, self-efficacy and inadequate staff so prior preparation of learners is very important in maternity nursing field. Hence, virtual laboratory simulation (vLAB) may be an appropriate E-learning tool to overcome these restrictions and the accomplishment of competence. Aim: To assess maternity students’ perceptions of virtual Lab education environment based on DREEM Questionnaire. Design: This is an analytic descriptive study. Subjects: A simple random sample technique was used to recruit 132 Maternal and neonatal health nursing students registered in the 3rd year at academic year 2022-2023, Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University. Setting: This study was carried out at Virtual lab learning environment that allocated inside E learning platform for maternal and neonatal health nursing department at faculty of nursing, Ain Shams University, Egypt. Tool: two tools were used a self administrative interviewing questionnaire and the DREEM questionnaire. Results : The total mean score for maternity students’ perception of the virtual lab education environment using (DREEM) Questionnaire were 115.0±.23.02 and 110.3±17.4; for female and male students respectively. Indicating a ‘more positive than negative’ perception of the virtual lab educational environment, also there was statistical significant deference between male and female students regarding their' perception of the virtual Lab learning domain ( p=0.02). As 45.5% and 38.9% of female and male students respectively viewed that virtual lab learning is more positive. Where there was no statistically significant differences were detected in other domains. Moreover regarding the students' perception of staff responsible for virtual Lab, (44.7% and 44.4%) of female and male students respectively viewed that staff providing good direction for virtual lab. In addition regarding the students' academic self -perceptions after using virtual Lab (43.8% and 43.5%) of female and male students respectively were Feeling more on the positive side after using virtual Lab experiment. Regarding to the students' perceptions of virtual Lab atmosphere (44.6% and 44.4%) of female and male students respectively had positive attitude with Virtual Lab learning. Concerning students’ social self-perception with using virtual Lab according to DREEM subscale (67% and 67.6%) of female and male students respectively mentioned that Virtual Lab learning isn't a nice place. Concerning percentage distribution of the maternity students regarding total DREEM score .This study showed that 46.9% and 47.2% of female and male students respectively viewed that virtual lab has plenty problems Conclusion : The total mean score for maternity students’ perception of the virtual lab education environment using (DREEM) Questionnaire were 115.0±.23.02 and 110.3±17.4; for female and male students respectively. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on women's sexual health, particularly their desire to become pregnant, mass media can play a crucial role in promoting awareness, intention, and usage of family planning methods Aim: This research aims to explore the effect of media exposure on women's utilization of family planning methods & their attitude during COVID 19. Design: A cross-sectional, descriptive study design was utilized on 334 married women. Sampling: The snow ball sampling technique was used. Tools of data collection : 1) women’s sociodemographic characteristics questionnaire, 2) Women perceived fears (WPF) questionnaire regarding the effect of COVID-19 on pregnancy,3) The Desire to Avoid Pregnancy (DAP) scale, 4) Source of information & effect of Media Exposure to Family planning message/campaign, 5) Women Attitude toward using family planning methods through media exposure. Results: 53.3% of women have a low desire to avoid pregnancy during the Covid-19 pandemic, 64.7% of the studied women reported that they didn’t use family planning methods after exposure to mass media family planning message and the majority of women (76.6%) highlighted holding positive attitudes towards utilization of family planning methods after media exposure and there was weak positive correlation for the mass media and use of family planning was found for traditional media messages Conclusion: The study concluded that women exposed to different types of media which impact their attitude positively although they did not use family planning methods during COVID-19 as they had low desire to avoid pregnancy. Recommendation: further quantitative researches should be done.
